GW2 or New Campaign/Expansion?

According to the wiki, there only seems to be one concept drawing for GW2. Rather disappointing for something that's been in development for two years now.
Is this it?? I'm beginning to loose hope in ever seeing GW2 ... same as Wheel of Time 2, a Wheel of Time movie ... Finding out who killed Asmo...
Seriously though, GW 2 was supposed to be out a year ago. Just how far behind schedule are they? Is there anything seriously that community members can do to assist? Artists, programmers, coders, surely there are some of these talented people in the GW world who are willing to assist if needed.

Don't go too much with what wiki entry says about Utopia. Some things were recycled into GWEN but if you look closely somethings were not introduced or couldn't have been introduced. Theres concepts of 3 different mounts. We do not yet have mounts. Some ideas for poesses wizards and warriors, well we could very well have possessed aspects in gw2, ie a character can become possesd and have aditional powers for the time duration.
I suppose we may never know but I am willing to bet Utopia wouldn't have gone to waste- the ideas or what little exists. Its too much time and money to have been trashed.

I would much rather have Guild Wars 2 but I'm just disappointed in Arenanet for not including the fans in the developement of Guild Wars 2. They been working on it since late 2006 and have yet to share anything new with us. They showed some concept art but those art pictures were out way before people discovered them. Arenanet just didn't say what it actually was.
What the hell? I think you're the only person that thought that.
Stop bitching, that would probably help.
It doesn't work like that dude. Don't get you knickers in a twist over a game.
They're a lot more than that. Yes in the past two years they've only made 1 piece of concept art, are you retarded?

I have to go against the grain here. I know it's not going to happen, but I'd rather have more Guild Wars content than GW2.
I *like* the way Guild Wars plays, the H/H system, the 8 skill limit, and especially the instanced world and, most of all, the lack of #$!! Elves (No, I don't care if you call them "Sylvari." Dragon Lance already tried that dodge. They're RedEngining ELVES).
I can afford to play WoW. I don't because I don't like it. I play GW because I like it, not because it's "free" to play. Cloning WoW's worst features for GW2 isn't progress, AFAIC.

The marketing people at NCSoft decide what to market, not what to develop. And GW2 is not getting any marketing while Aion is nearer and set to gobble large sums of money. Anet can assign a few people to develop GW1, but they still can't say a damn thing about GW2 because that's where NCSoft wants all the hype to go right now. If that causes some people to "quit" GW and subscribe to Aion... that's a hell of a lot better for their bottom line than the alternative.

I am so sick of people who keep whining about Guild Wars 2. Seriously, it'll get here when it's done.
Regarding new content to Guild Wars 1; sure it would be nice, but I'd rather have them work on Guild Wars 2 since they've already started.
Also, the article in the May 2007 edition of PC Gamer also explains some things regarding chapter 4.
An excerpt of how it eventually became Guild Wars 2 can be read here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Utopia

No it isn't. Linsey has stated what creating a new area entails, and it's more than a four-person job. She'd like to do it, but she simply doesn't have the resources.
Many of the updates we've had involved cribbing people over from the GW2 effort and/or using stuff that had been made but not yet used. |
They could easily take a map that already exists and tweak it a bit for a sorrows furnace style area, set a gate into it from somewhere so it's stand-alone, borrow mobs that already exist and tweak them (color shift some of the textures for a slightly different look.). Writing the quests and setting up all the scripted scenes/pathing would take more time but then I'm not saying they would only have 3 months to do it in. I'd be happy if a new area came out and it took them 6 months to do.
If Anet's team is so specialized that each person is only capable of doing a single job (freddy only knows how to rig models, Janey only knows how to animate a freddy-rigged model etc..) then they need to higher multi skilled people for a game-maintaining-team.

So which would people prefer?:-
a.) current GW2 - AI, mechanics built and running. Current UI 1 skill bar with 2 skills. Graphics - matchstick men.
or
b.) wait until something a little more polished is available to be screenshotted.
ANet would be shooting themselves in the foot if they released anything sub-standard at this point. Games takes years to develop, if memory serves correct GW1 was 4-5 years in the making.
Lack of information is always a problem for anything in life. And it's something you have to grin and bear. As many have said, wait for ANet to show us something by going and playing something else. GW1 is dead, no new content really is going to get people coming back in their droves. EoTN was a prime example - fun while it lasted....
PS: Option a.) is not confirmed

I'm patiently awaiting GW2. A new Campaign in Guild Wars would just be ROFLstomped by people, including me, in like a month or so. After two months, I would be bored again.
And then what? People would breeze through the area using SF, Discord or whatever, and the area will fall into ruin pretty soon. Only to be visited by the farmers. Everything the Live Team will conjure up will be stale the moment it is released. In my opinion, Guild Wars needs something entirely new, like GW2

The marketing people at NCSoft decide what to market, not what to develop.
|
After those decisions are made, the marketing people decide HOW to market the stable of games, given the directives from on high and the number of resources they were provided.
My suspicion is that we don't see microcontent bridging the gap because ANet didn't set those wheels in motion long enough ago for those projects to be bearing fruit now. The other issue is that the personnel at NCSoft making the strategy calls don't get promotions or bonuses by selling GW2 two years from now. They get those rewards by selling Aion NOW.
There's a simple strategic explanation for the secrecy surrounding the GW2 project. Making stuff for public consumption during development eats up a lot of time. If you're convinced that you've got to beat the big hitters to market in order to sell as many games as possible, then you just can't afford to waste that time. I'm sure that the people at ANet are thinking the same thing I'm thinking - they can't possibly compete with the marketing muscle of Blizzard AND EA/Bioware at the same time. They've got to beat them to market, or at least not lose the race to both. The best way to do that is to focus resources on development and worry about marketing when the game is closer to fruition.

both could be so awesome.
