Actually Black Library publishes a lot of the more recent movie tie in books under its Black Industries label and also has a few big name game titles on its books

Not only that, but the Warhammer license is only licensed to Mythic to produce, Games Workshop don't do any of the games themselves, they stick truly to the table top games and licence out to companies like THQ and Mythic to do the video games

and honestly in this day and age, good licensing can lead to better outcomes as the Black library has a ton of amazing writers on its books too, NC Soft especially could end up with some amazing books and could also get some actually well written quest chains in the games (all of them, not just GW) as CCP recently did with EvE Online and getting actual writers from Wizards of the Coast to write quest chains and story archs for the games recent massive update (and they are spectacular btw)

I thought Black Industries was closing down.

I honestly don't know what happened to the DC game they were working on.

Good to know that WoTC is writing for EvE, did not know that. But frankly, WoTC is in no way competing with EvE, and it makes since for them to branch out (is an EvE collectable card game in the works?)

The problem for Guild Wars is the fantasy market is saturated. GW already makes Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Lord of the Rings miniatures to name a few.

WoW has a miniature game out, as do countless other companies. Guild Wars is not going to be able to break into that industry, so there really is no reason for them to pair up with Games Workshop.

The only synergy I can think of is if someone makes a Guild Wars pen & paper RPG. But who would take that on?

ah yeah, missed that about black industries, but black library is still very much going and cross licensing is good for business in this business climate and neither are competition for the other so why not?
