How did you name your character?

come from books that i have read and like a lot. well, they come from one book in particular

Elizabeth Genevieve - Really, I don't know how did the name came up, I just know that every time I pass through LA and some all chat trader starts buggin me, someone whispers me sayin :'What a cute name!'

Elizabeth Lifegiver - Meh, ma Monk.

Tha Roofz On Fiah - gogogogo Coal Chamber! (the original song isn't by them, is it? ._.)

Ms Spike Alot - Ma AB sin.

"xxx Dreikki" with xxx replaced by a word that somehow represents the class, like Blessed (monk), Arcane (mesmer), Angelic (paragon), etc.

However my old characters had some pretty awful names like Pure Pwner, who has 2 sets of 15k armor and some maxed out Cartography titles. However the main reason I started out a new main character was because his name was so terrible...

And Dreikki yeah, I've been using it for over 10 years (I hate the name now) but I just use it everywhere so it's pretty hard to think of a new name.

Demonic Elf- first character ever. Elves are cool, dark elves are cooler. Dark Elf was taken... hrmm.. Demonic Elf fck yeah!

Savior De- Demonic Elf = DE

Bomb Soldier- Smash Bros., name of a Japanese Falco player

Hylian Nightmare- Smash Bros. again, The Germ is amazing.

Warcraft Buddy- Used to have a finger-puppet elephant next to my computer for good luck when I played WC3FT

R U I Q- ARE YOU iQ??

Captain Rujiyo- NPC name

Cultist Mercenary- NPC name

Lemming Swimstar- hahahahahahahah

Japanese singers for my females.

Anti-hero movie type for males.

Necro Judgement - I dunno, it was my first char and I decided to make something epically melodramatic lol

I Divine Darkness I - See above, but I wanted to include divine in there somewhere because he was a monk.

I Divine Ashes I - Actually I named this after a girl I kind of fell for on gw (and am currently living with and dating). The Divine thing kind of became my moniker after a while, so I kept it.

Arrow Onslaught - my departure from the Divine moniker. This actually became my main. See first two entries for reason behind name :P

Gospel Of Shaun - I thought it was clever, and that people would actually call me by my name rather than Divine :P.

I Divine Armor I - perma-pre char...decided to just stick with the Divine thing.

I Divine Speed I - permasin char...once again playing off of Divine thing.

I used Diablo as inspiration, Meph The Cursed (necromancer).

I was so into fable at the time right, i loved that game, i wanted to name my warrior Nostro so bad but nearly sharted myself when i discovered you had to have a "last name". So i'm looking around for ideas, i see the box... Guild Wars Prophecies... prophecies... like nostradamus... Nostro Dahmus! Awwww helllll yeah, he's a champ.

I like to include music references in my names.

The Power Of Fear (Ranger) - Random name on a 4 year old character that I hate now.
Signs Of The Zodiac (Ele) - Random.
Suffocating Sorrow (Necro) - From when I liked Bullet for my Valentine a few years back. I still like this name though.
Energy Block (Mes) - I block people's energiez, short and simple.
In Mourning (Monk) - Named after one of my favourite bands.
The Rose Will Decay (Rit) - Named after an album by Adept.
Bringer Of Autumn (Sin) - Pretty.
Killing With A Grin (Warrior) - Should've been Killing With A Smile (the name of an album by Parkway Drive) but that was too long.
Why Am I A Paragon - Paras are boring and/or bad.
Everlasting Anguish (PvP) - Everlasting Pain (a song by Deadlock) was busy so I just slapped a similar word at the end.

Oh, and I did eventually find out that I did spell "Abdelmalak" correctly.

EDIT: Oh, and though I was too cheap to change the actual character's name, Medea the Younger is now Medea Okoro, since she married Ebia.

Arden Greyleaf - R (surname="arrowhead"..sorta).
Arden Kindlecorpse - Ele (was originally Ele/Nec..plus he's a trifle pale).
Arden Machnamh - Mes (surname = "thought").
Arden Gloomharvest - Derv. Yep a play on Grimreaper, SO original.
Arden Soulstrummer - Rit.

Noci Nightbringer - War (playing with the death concept).
Noci Dirgesinger - Nec (was originally Nec/Mo).
Noci Lann Damsha - Sin (surname= "Blade Dance").
Noci Bhikshuni - Monk (it's a title for a fully-fleged monk/nun).
Noci Aureus Dea -Para (surname = "golden goddess").

The first few were made without any idea about ascension and secondary swapping (and with much more anguish than the later ones).

Arden came from a dusty old 3d chat program I used to inhabit with the same name (putting the IGN at over 10 years old O.o).

Noci came from "nociception", effectively the sensation of pain from noxious stimuli, NOT the pasta (that's gnocci)

Phase 1:
Used names of Egyptian gods. People I played at that time all knew that, so they always expected me to do a god-like name. They laughed their asses off after meeting my pet bear, expecting another god's name, only to find it named Sweetypie.

Phase 2:
Moved onto Asian names. Chinese and Japanese.

Phase 3:
The one I am currently in - Middle Eastern names. I love the fact that the names contain a bunch of "h"s. Sounds much rougher.

"Raziel" I pretty much got from Legacy of Kain, and the last name "Selisur" came from the Neverwinter Nights name randomizer.

Revrend Uncle Pappy..(Monk) character from Redneck Life Board Game
Turkey ofthe Forrest (ranger) from a SNL skit with Jessica Simpson

my newest character is Hola Nerd Migos from a greeting on the Big Bang Theory TV show.

To check names I typed them into my Ignore list and if it was rejected the name was good. Some of my rejected names that were available:

I guess they are still up for grabs.

Judge Judas is my first char and main. I like alliteration. Almost all my other chars are also called Judge Ju...., to be recognisable.

My character naming system is pretty basic.

First names came from either books, games, or movies, with the exception of my Ele (whose was made up), so perhaps look to your favourites of those for inspiration.

Dryden Eldmere - Warrior - Dryden was a name I had always liked from the poet of the same name and Eldmere is a slightly altered street name that I had seen before and liked.

Koji Murasame - Assassin - This had been an online alias of mine for a long time. A fairly standard Japanese name that I made up for role-playing games.

Toshiro Kakita - Ritualist - Toshiro came from the famous actor Toshiro Mifune and Kakita came from the Legend of the Five Rings crane clan surname.

Kveldbar Beornson - Monk - A name I made up for Guild Wars 2. I want to make a Norn so I made a Norse name. "Kveld" is the Norse word for evening or night, "Bar" is a word for bear. Like Kveldulf is the Norse word for Werewolf this is a made up Norse word for Werebear. Beornson is from the Lord of the Rings character Beorn.

Tenar Arha - Necromancer - I got this from the Earthsea book series the priestess of the Tombs of Atuan her known name is Arha and her true name is Tenar.

I naed my first char, Fate Crusher, because he was a W/N and i thought (with my noobie brain) that he would forver use a hammer and create bone minions from the battlefield! i had an amazing dream the night before... lol

Well, my two mains are easy enough.

"Siren" for the lovely mythical gals who lured sailors to their deaths on the rocks, and "Aradia" after the neo-pagan goddess. I thought it worked pretty well for my neutral Necro.

"Pepper" is a name my guildies started calling me when I joined, so I wanted to reflect that, and "Gemdaria" used to be a generic character last name based on a character I created years ago for personal writing.
