While it is true that the maps are mostly Saltspray, Grenz and Ancestral, I highly disagree with the 'luxons being superior'.
The last 3 weeks, I've played every morning, and getting like 12 victories straight, and maybe 1 loss. In the kurzick outposts, there are alot of groups waiting, and when I ask a friend to check out the luxon outpost, it is almost empty. (this is around 12 A.M. GMT+1 until 4 P.M. GMT+1). |

I am one of those "not so hot" Kurz players (PvE Ranger on your team in AB? I recommend resigning), and I'm fine with Ancestral. Fun map.
I've never seen any other map than Grenz.

It's already been stated, I think. JQ and FA are easy wins for the Kurzick (because of a multitude of reasons, including leeching on the Luxon side, small advantages in favor of the Kurzicks, and the fact that there are just a lot more Kurzick then there are Luxon)
It's just a big toilet. The number of players on either alliance will never change, and there's nothing the devs can do about that (the problem relates to personal taste, if that helps). A host of problems stems from it, including our AB problem and the alternative JQ/FA easy win situation.

Grrr post eaten by my daily 9.30am disconnection (screw you BT! /shakefist). I think what I said was... I had an 18-hour day ABing as a kurzick on Friday and didn't lose more than a handful of matches, but still the map only switched back and forth between Ancestral and Grenz. I can't believe that my personal win-loss ratio is *that* far out from everyone else's so I've no idea what's up with the map rotation.

I think AB will be the next form of PvP due for a revamp if it keeps going this way.

I play on the Luxon side and no matter what we always lose. I must be on at a bad time then if someone is saying Kurzicks suck at AB.

Other than that, it's easy modo.
Try playing at around 8pm PST to around 12am PST.

I also agree with the guy that is a few posts above me, that I myself also can't believe that my personal win-loss ratio is that far away from the total win-losses, especially when you're getting over 40 timer restarts (not exaggarating here!)

The reason the line is always in Kurzick territory is because Kurzick monks don't equip Shield Bash or Balanced Stance so they keep dying to WC/PS assassins every 30 seconds. I've seen many a Kurzick group (and one Luxon group, surprisingly) with no healer, which is suicide.
I've played Saltspray I believe a total of three times. The Kurzick side has won once while I was present. I've also played Etnaran once (I almost had a heart attack when I realized we were in Luxon territory), and we lost then.
I've played more matches in Ancestral's or Grenz ALONE than I could count to before I got bored.
I'd say that the Luxons win more because they run better and more synergistic builds than the Kurzicks.
But this is all just mere speculation. The reason the Kurzicks' side sucks so bad is because my guildmates and I are on the Kurzicks' side. There we go, mystery solved.

Hmph, this thread sounds like the situation got even worse compared to spring (last I played GW and I kept statistics of AB maps for a couple weeks)
I've been saying that AB needed a random rotation practically since release, but anet obviously likes this "territory control" stuff and won't get rid of it.

I am personally do not care if they change around the map rotations. No matter what the map is, the better team wins, theres really not that big of a bonus to either side.
After being luxon for ~2 years and kurzick for about another year, I feel it is safe to say that the luxons are superior at AB. This is of course relating to pugs - luxon pugs tend to be generally bad but they at least understand how to stay together and cap. Kurzick pugs on the other hand are even worse and tend to mob/split easily; I hate nothing more then being a kurzick pug group leader and having every single person in the group completely ignore me and go join the general mob.
I will say though that the win:loss ratio is much different in guild play. On both sides, if I was running with guildies then my win percentage jumped from 1/4 (kurz)|2/3rds(lux) to the mid 90's. If you can even have a single group on your side who knows what their doing (ab is srs bsns) then you have a much higher chance of winning no matter what side you are.

I miss 2007, when the good Kurzick players still played.

JQ outputs much, much better faction rewards for the Kurzicks, so those left behind in AB are hardly representative of what it used to look like when there were a bunch of good players on both sides :/

The passage of a month and a half has not altered the fact that the problem is intractable. You can make it such that players on both sides play AB. But there will then be a thread about how both JQ and FA are empty within hours.
The only way to get people on both sides to play AB is by Smiter's Booning the faction gain in both FA and JQ, leaving both ghost towns (eg: first year after Factions release). The only other possible outcomes are that AB is a ghost town and that AB is dominated by one side.
One thought is that FA and JQ could provide some other desirable reward than Luxon/Kurzick faction. I bet people would play them (and ABs would also stabilize) if FA and JQ gave away zkeys like they were RR.

An easy and effective solution would be to make the maps change randomly. Nobody actually cares if the kurz or lux are "winning" at the present time...
kiddster
Every day more and more Luxons are winning on Kurzick maps, And the more they win the more tactful they grow in learning how to win on those maps. Ancestral Lands is no longer an issue, The likelyhood of Luxons winning is pretty much the same as any other map, If you have good players. It becomes unfair for Kurzick, And the low faction gain makes alot of people just not interested in AB. Simply, Just increase the faction gain and an Automatic Rotation would help, Because i personally get incredibly bored winning over and over again. Let's add a little challenge now..

Everyone knows that all the kurzicks sit out at JQ and things will always remain this way until something it done to shake things up a bit. Honestly, it's time to throw JQ and FA into the AB rotation to determine their use.
Solution, if either are behind enemy lines, your faction gains ain't worth **** until you pull some weight and get your territory back. With luck, this will get those bots out of the equation as well.

A few weeks ago a well known Luxon AB alliance went Kurzick and helped move the maps all the way to Kaanai. They got bored playing with other shitty Kurzicks and went back to Luxon, so now we're back in Ancestral.
It's proof it's all about the players. Kurzicks don't have them.

I honestly believe, as others have commented, that the solution lies in nerfing the faction gained from JQ/FA while the line is inside your territory. End result? Less players in them while the line is inside one side's territory. And we'd see Grenz/Saltspray/Etnaran (Or maybe more likely Grenz and Saltspray) frequently, but Kaanai or Ancestral would be less frequently seen, as the better PVPers on both sides would start playing more AB as soon as their faction gain started taking hits...

MANY guilds that began as Kurz, have gone Luxon...because we have maxed the title already. (Kurz)
That could be causing a few ripples in the fabric.
