I know the last topic was closed, I'm purely making this because I want to see if people have tried yet, please no senseless flaming.

Has anyone who has preordered Aion through the NCSoft store attempted to contact NCSoft to cancel or obtain a code? I was thoroughly pissed to read that the digital copy didn't get the wings. As silly as the emote is, I'd really like to just have it. I sent in a ticket to try and cancel my order so I can buy it retail instead (I preordered a few months ago). I just feel like because I was early to support Aion, I'm now being screwed which I feel is not right.

EDIT: Check my post on the second page for details of how this is turning out. It turns out you can get a refund, but it looks like you need to go to support. Click here for more details: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...81#post4824981

I didn't think about that, i did buy the aion in Ncsoft store.
But, in my opinion, they won't accept b/c :
_ they can't?
_ I already used the key and played too
_ .. yeah only 2 opinions sorry..

Totally agree.

I a little mad to. 1-10 about a 7. Can you pm me and let me know how that goes for you? Cuz if it works I'd much rather buy it at a store and get my code for silly wings. Seriously tho. Slap in the face for pre-ordering online. What was I thinking.

I was buying the game because I wanted to play it, not because of the emote (hence why I preordered it awhile ago). And to be honest, I'm not going to care about the emote too much once I get it. More than anything, it's the principle of the fact of what's going on that gets me riled up (that and the fact I've only gotten 7 hours of sleep the last 2.5 days). The way I look at it is that I'm one of the people that's helping the game get off the ground in NA (along with many others). I don't feel like I should be treated like royalty or anything, but I feel that I do deserve some respect as a paying customer that believes in the product and is trying to chip in to help get it off the ground. I feel I should receive same treatment as the person that buys the same game in a different place. That's all, and I don't think it's too much to ask.

I know that the NCSoft order is supposed to be non-refundable, but I've seen plenty of non-refundable things (plane tickets, concert tickets, etc) be refunded in the past if you put up enough of a fight. If I get a response, I'll let people know.

Not likely, I'm not getting scammed by local resellers for a physical copy.

Pre-order comes with a 48 hour bonus headstart (5 days for european players), the retail version with a useless emote in guild wars 1, which you might not even play anymore if you get Aion. I think it would be quite clear which to choose

I hope they will re-think their Aion wing crap again.

I mean I got nothing but a CE code, and was willing to play the same price for it as for the boxed version. I bought it directly from NCsoft's store.

The bonus I get for making them more money than other buyers who also got a box, even if they only buy a standard steelbox in a store and no CE:

-NO- GW wings. :P

You cannot cancel your order from the store, the keys are already attached to your Aion and NCsoft accounts.
But yeah, I think it is really good to tell them what we think about the way they do their promotions!

Edit: I would at least like to have the Aion wings in GW. After playing through the Closed Beta events I feel bad enough already that I bought it early... I fear the game will not even have one quarter or 1/8 of the longevity that Guild Wars had for me, I played and enjoyed it for years, after all.

Hm I wonder.. i had preordered the CE trough another site but not the boxed CE, only the online keycode.. so that should probably still count right?

It seems like only Asmodian wings will be available for GW characters?

I did preorder the CE offline, but I won't use my wing code or give it out. I know it's there, & that's good lol Please don't ask why lol.

Seems like the code for wings will be printed on a paper/card inside the game box. You purchased a CE code only. Not sure, but probably no wings...?

Pre-purchased Aion anyway so this is a right slap in the face.

Currently trying to contact support as my Aion account hasn't been created yet.
Well silly me for having any faith in NCsoft and pre-purchasing their new game 2 months before released.

[Edit]
Unless the DD people got Elyos wings or something this si kidna messed up

That's exactly how I feel.

I've asked Regina on the wiki if she knows why digital copies are exempt, as they've been able to send beta codes via email so there's no reason why they can't send the emote code the same way, but I don't know if she'll come back with an answer or not. If this thread is still open if/when she does, I'll copy/paste her answer here.

In the meantime, OP please let us know how it goes.

well it is kind of pathetic, I bought CE by digital as amazon were having problems with beta key rollout and I wasn't bothered abut having a plastc figurin and box.

but to me Collectors Edition is Collectors Edition, so any digital content should be included for all versions of CE regardless of whether it is in a box or not

regardless I bought Aion as I will be leaving GW to play it, but why should anyone who are literally the first to support a new game miss out?

Not going to try and cancel. It doesn't mean enough to me. Besides open beta is way to close and I don't want to miss it. It's to small a thing to be fussed about.

Well I have raised a ticket with support about this.

Like some other guys I was directed to ncsoft as at the time play.com did not know anything about beta keys.Ncsoft themselves on a ticket directed btw

Its the principle that concerns myself

As far as I concered all they have to do is..add a code key to your Master account so that you can add it to an existing GW account. Theres nothing hard in doing that.

I realise I was very vocal on the other thread about this subject and for that I apologise. I got sent an invite to Aion Beta and as a result I haven't had to purchase yet. My feelings still stand on this promotion but I thought I'd play devils advocate today and went into my local GAME store to see what their plans were for launch and review what options are open to me.

The very nice man behind the counter looked very confused when I asked about Aion ("Whats that? Never heard of it..." ) and looked through his book to find out about it. Its not in there. Bearing in mind that GAME are meant to be one of the retailers highlighted by NCSoft to purchase the game, I'd expect that a month before launch they would at least be aware of an upcoming promotion, even if it wasn't available yet. Needless to say it hasn't calmed my fears of getting screwed over by deciding to get a physical purchase.

If you're thinking about switching what you have, try to scout your options ahead and decide what is really important. Right now physical retailers in the UK aren't offering anything at all. For me there's too much to lose by deciding to go physical.

physicals may not be as upto date as play.com ect as they the supply box ect ect

the point is guys like play, amazon ect in UK you get the full package .

that will include wings ect as its a box you receive.

I stand by my previous post there is nothing difficult in adding a key code to your master, I have unused keycodes for linage ect sitting there so they can offer it without any added problems

I sent a mail to NCsoft support and pointed out that their promotion basically tells people not to preorder or buy from NCstore and that people who did so feel betrayed.

I am not sure if pissing off good customers is part of a psychologically highly complex master plan to increase sales and customer satisfaction. :P

This thread is going to be heavily moderated to keep it on topic. This is not the place to express your opinion on the wings or Aion itself.

This thread is about questions or concerns regarding the Guild Wars wing promotion if you pre-purchased Aion and that particular subject only.

I may be completely mistaken, but...
it seems the wing idea was a last minute thing and that the "wing-codes" were shuffled into the CE and Steel boxes just in time for shipping. If that is the case there is probably no link between the CE game code and the "wing-code" whatsoever and if that's the case I see a lot of these "wing-codes" make their way onto ebay... for real money... a few hours after Aion launch. O.o

Just one more reason for NCSoft to consider handing out these "wing-codes" to all online store Limited Edition customers.
