Missions are like primary quests, only the location is typically specifically meant for that mission, with the objectives built in. They are more relevant to the story than most normal quests and often have cutscenes and such. Just try it; after you do a few you will get to understand the difference.

The upgrade components are mods or inscription on the weapons which you can put on other weapons
This is the links to them:

Wiki is an extremely useful source of information:

It explains about the game mechanics and modifiers as well as hints and maps for missions and quests.

Getting rid of your pet. Really, searching things on wiki is very very easy. Most of your questions are readily answered there.
Any profession is a good 1st profession. Check the wiki page for any profession to see tips on secondary professions for them. Like secondary professions for a warrior or choice of secondary professions for a warrior.
Maybe you should spend a little time getting familiar with the wikis.

A Ranger/Elementalist with Conjure Lightning can be really good, since you can get a bow early in the game that causes Lightning Damage (which triggers the Conjure Lightning skill).
You can then remove the modification from the bow that causes it to deal lightning damage, and then add it to another bow, when you get a better one. |

How would i go about adding skills to weapons? and moving the skill to a different bow (Conjure Lightning skill for example)
You don't 'add skills to weapons'. You use skills with the right weapons.
For example: Conjure Lighting.
This skill makes you do extra damage if you use a weapon that does lightning damage.
If you use a bow, you can add a shocking bowstring to it. This will change the damage the bow does to lightning damage. If you then use Conjure Lightning, you will do extra damage with that bow.

If you don't have a skill equipped, you can't use it. In PvE, you learn skills from skill trainers, quests, or tomes if the skill is unlocked.

Look under acquisition to find where to get the skill. If you type /wiki XXXX in chat, where "XXXX" is a search term, then the game will open a web page on the wiki and search that term for you. There is a lot of information on the wiki; it's a great tool for beginners.

The removable buffs on weapons are called "mods'. They can only be obtained by identifying a colored weapon to see the mod and then you remove one by using an Expert Salvage Kit. This most likely will destroy the weapon. (You have to get title ranks to increase chance of not destroying weapon, so will be much later in game for that.)

Some important tips for a new player:
-Some towns have a mission. You'll find the "Enter Mission" button in the bottom-right corner of the screen, unless you've changed your settings. If you can't get a primary quest, you'll probably have to do a mission to advance.
-Talk to collectors! It's often easy to find the collectables they want, and they offer quite good weapons and armor in return.
-Never EVER accept a run anywhere. Playing the game is very fun and rewarding, why would you want to skip a major part of it?
-Don't accept too much help either, don't even accept too much advice. Figuring things out for yourself is more fun.
-About the only items of value you can find in the early game are black and white dye. Just store the crafting materials and merchant the rest.

If you don't have 9 points in Marksmanship, btw, the Nevermore will "act" like a starter bow.
At any rate, "better" weapons would normally be gotten as drops, or out of chests, or from [weapons] crafters, or collectors. However, at the point in the game where you probably are as a level8, those sources would all have less-than-max weapons. As far as Flatbows are concerned, you won't find a "better" one - just a "different" one.
As far as armor goes, check in every town you visit to see if there's aa [armor] crafter with better armor and/or check wiki for the location of crafters and collectors. Also, check what the max armor level is for your class - once you get to max, it's all just cosmetic after that.

Hello again. If you are still in pre-searing (nice pretty Ascalon), you get slightly better armor through collectors who will trade you for certain drops. Each collector has only one armor piece.

If you have gone through the Academy and continued the campaign then, as Quaker said, look for NPCs with (Armor) after their name. If you see more than one, check all out as they will have different offerings. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor
