I don't see the value in items

In all honesty, I wasn't talking about any person in particular. It was just a rationalisation of an observation.

Besides, you liking the black color does not mean that everyone else with black armor likes it. Most of them are just flaunting their money, lying to themselves about liking black or suffering from delusions of leetness.

I hope you're aware this assumption itself is slightly arrogant, ergo: a slight delusion of leetness?

I jest.

Honestly though, black has obvious connotations of bad-ass (leather jackets, dark shades, ninjas, The Nazgûl, etc..) in all types of fantasy/sci-fi/fiction... that it's coveted after in game is no surprise.

Stop with the superiority bs, guys. We all like what we like. There's no need to have a dig to make ourselves feel all big about ourselves.

And yes, even the BDS scrubs deserve a break!

I guess you could call it an assumption, but in truth it's just... Experience with GW players.

Someone said in a previous post that people will buy the most expensive stuff just because it's considered cool and good looking. While, in fact, it's hideous beyond belief. It all reminds me of a story about an emperor and his new clothes...

Thing is, 'hideous' is a snarly but subjective creature. Opinions are like arseholes, mostly they stink of poo.

I love spending all my money on rare weapons. Not this cheap inscribable crap though, REAL rare weapons that are from Tyria and Factions years back. I take great pleasure in amassing weapons like that, it is what makes me happy to play. I can switch weapons and shields on almost all of my characters and know that I have an assortment to choose from. Keeps the variety up to par.

I spend 100's of Ecto on weapons that are no better than Droknar's Sword simply because I can, and I want to. If you can't afford a Ferrari, don't call those who can idiots for not buying a Mazda 3. It's not your place to gawk at those who spend differently.

You score some points there, but there are some universal definitions of beauty, elegance and proportions.

While one is perfectly free to say that, say, a miniature monkette in black obsi with chaos gloves wielding a giand Bone Dragon Staff looks beautiful, it's like saying the same thing for a redneck with ginger mullet and buck teeth. Freedom of speech and opinion does not neccessarily guarantee their correctness and truthfulness.

There are scales to measure beauty, but we're considering the 'cool' factor here more. Ugly is cool for necros, some people think ugly looking items seem more badass and dangerous, and so on...

Plus there really is no universal marker for quality; you'll just have to live with the fact that you have much better taste than the majority.

Superlost, I'm surprised that you're the one saying that people can't make their own statements regardless of aesthetic value when you're the one wearing that very, ah, tasteful avatar lololo

To the OP: why are you so concerned about this issue?

Indeed, the "cool" factor and peer pressure seem to be forces behind the most ugly of combinations we see.

P.S. The avatar is merely a statement.
And I haven't said anything against voicing statements, I just said they weren't neccessarily true just because they were stated.

Oh smeg, team almost wiped in Gloom. Better get back to bondage.

Why do you care? Life is about questions and answers. ) It wasn't as much of a concern as it was just my opinions on the values of things in THIS game. They really have none as opposed to ingame items like an Everquest or WOW or those that give you more power or more +1's to things. I spend my money/ectoes also, but, I spend them on things that give me more power not pretty pictures. I buy consumables and those event items that take away death penalty and things like that. Those have INGAME effects and +1 values. A skin doesn't.
