The second quest was super-tough. I hated that sinking feeling in my stomach as soon as I saw the red-colored "Master" in front of the quest dialogue. -.- Is there a prize for slowest time? 43 minutes, woohoo...
XD Thanks for the laugh. I just about sprayed my monitor with soda.

Died on my first attempt to do pits,
Finished the quest the second time I tried it, even tough I have never been into uw and had no clue where all the reapers were.
But in the end I had more trouble with the large pop up of mindblade spectres on my way to pools then I had with bonepits.
I am kinda surprised that nobody noticed that.
Large group of spectres popping up, hexing before you can do '4", and 4 annoying dryders directly after.
Especially on the way back I thought: Man, I just created an impossible spawn to pass.
Was more luck then skill I passed there anyway ( KD on all dryders, 4 on spectres, and run like hell)

I'm a casual player.
This quest was easy.
I died that first time after rubberbanding and getting pinned against a wall by two attaxes. That was frustrating, I admit, but I was only 2 minutes in, so I didn't care too much. Second run I completed it, slowly but surely, no cons. It really was good to learn the layout and see the environments of UW, as I rarely get the chance. Twin Serpents and Spawning Pools were my favourites to run around in, due to the lack of threatening enemies, and Bone Pits really kept me on my toes.
I am looking forward to something other then running for the next quest though. I wonder if we'll be using those Phantasmal Tonics for it?

Well, I failed this 2nd quest 2x before completing it 3rd try, and just finished doing it on a 2nd character (1 more to go). Anyway, while I was running my 2nd char I got to thinking, maybe Anet isn't planning a quest every single day because they knew that some people were going to struggle with a quest or 2, give the players a couple days to work through the tougher 1(s) that way more people would have a chance to FINISH the quest chain and get whatever may be at the end. What I mean is, they said this is a one shot only deal, that's it, no more... so if they have a quest every single day that puts huge pressure on what I would imagine to be a fair chunk of the playerbase to finish them every day, now for whatever reason be it a challenge with the quest, school, kids, work, whatever everyone may not get the quest done every day and thus miss out at the end. Could also be a reason for the tonics as part of the reward for the 1st easy quest, they knew people were going to need a few tries at the next quest. I'm actually glad they did it this way.
First try on this quest, I did it in about 17 minutes. I used a red rock candy and that's it. I don't see why people have problem with Pits...it's fairly easy to c-KD-Tab-KD for the groups and the 20 second shut down for groups larger than 3 or 4...using it under the bridge especially helps. Besides this all the other areas went swimmingly. I actually have very little prior knowledge of the UW (I only went through most of the areas once on my sin...solo). I had a close call in the spawning pools until I figured out the 1 sec recharge on the 10 second KD...and on the quest prior I almost died in the Frozen wastes...no problems in the pits though.
People look at it this way. What better way to familiar yourself with UW then this? You get Imba skills to help you navigate yourself throughout the Underworld. Not only that but some of the creatures were removed i.e Charged Blackness. Complaining for lack of experience is not an excuse now that you have some tools to go out and get that experience.

Are you all actually arguing about the difficulty of an optional holiday quest that actually makes you think?
I mean, I hate messenger pidgeon quests as much as the next guy, but when I have to Dash, DeepFreeze, Gale, and call mobs my bitch to get there, I'm having fun. Especially when I find out that people can't get through an area 'cause of hexes...

My advise for the 2nd quest is go to the bone pits first, and watch the patrol path of the mobs. Try to use the 4th skills when they are all bunched together.
There is a far amount of luck involved as well unfortantely.
If anyone is looking for a map of the Reapers, one can find in my event thread here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10408977
Also use as many skill boosters as possible, +10% Moral, health items like Candy apple and movement boosters like Cupcakes.

I'm not a pro uwsc-er, far from it. The only area I've ever tried was vale, me being a vale necro. I don't do uwsc, I don't know the layout of the UW.
My favorite areas are the wastes (smite crawlers are SO pretty), and plains (the mist there looks awesome, and so do those ghost riders).
I did the quest on all my characters now, can't wait for the next one ^_^
Complete it 2nd time - 21 minutes
Weird most damage came from the Behemots and their projectiles
Pits: for groups of 1 or 2 foes use the KD when surrounded by patrols use 4th skill
Plains: use mostly jsut snare and speed boost; save 4th skill for the pop up mesmers with heavy degeneration
Pools: I used 4th skill just for 2 groups; rest is avoidable and if not you only need 3rd skill
mountains: jsut dont hug the behemots and play dodge.
The rest is easy.
and again my first time in pits and pools...never completed UW... so is not that hard even if you dont know the place

No it's not. I've never used tab. He's a stranger from that dark, shady side of my keyboard that my fingers never stray towards (in games) that looks like he's hiding something sinister under that coat. :/

No longer is it dark and shady and wearing a trenchcoat. It is now brightly lit, playful and fun on the blessed side of your keyboard!
(Numpad 1 for me.)
I really enjoyed this second quest. Kinda reminded me of droks running back in 'ye olden times' So long as you look at the radar, watch the patrols etc there really is no need for consumables and all that stuff. The KD skill is your friend, and the 4th skill is there to rescue you if you need it.
They removed a lot of mobs and patrols too., I expected to be swarmed by the usual critters, but most of them had gone.
Looking forward to the next one.
I really do hope they introduce Dhumm as a new boss for the UW, but i'm not getting my hopes up. It may be we end up closing the doors again and trapping him back inside until next year when he will threaten to come out again like some halloween boogy man
