After much analysis and discussion, we’ve decided to permanently retire the Xunlai Tournament House. |

Do people really care about the may Zkeys? That's just sad. I forgot about it 1 month after.

Lol, when I announced this to friends, quite a few were surprised. I still never understood why they decided to revamp it in the first place. Unless this was all some elaborate scheme to get players to buy more accounts and then once multiple people have bought 5+ accounts for monthly zkeys, have it "break". Oh the conspiracies!!!! D:

We can probably expect this level of commitment when GW2 comes out.
Everyone, remember this day well.

Good news, and no I'm not being sarcastic. I'm not a fan of huge rewards being given at no effort whatsoever.
Double good news in that people will finally stop asking about the XTH, it was seriously annoying.

Thanks for the info.
I'm glad that it never got fixed, it was ridiculous to begin with.

XTH was fine for 99% of us as it was introduced the first time
why the f*** did they try to improve it ?
btw, am I the only one who's getting seriously pissed off at the usual "sorry, we can't, we're working on GW2" excuse we're hearing all the time ?

yeah don't bother working on the game u already have.. tht is a great way to restore player faith after bare-faced lies about account security, guild wars 6 month campaigns and regular skill balances

Not a fan of the way they handled this whole mess, dont care too much about the xth although it was nice, it would be nice to get our may points too but i doubt it will happen...
didnt expect anything more than this.
Trader of Secrets
Somewhat expected. I still dont understand how the reformating of how XTH looked like made so much errors. I mean it was fine until that, wasnt it?
Greedy Gus
Good decision. Predictions system was flawed, and let zkeys & RPs be for actually pvping.
Devastating Flames
Good glad to see anet rather work on the gw2 then go and fix old items that will not be used after a few months pending the relase of guild wars two taht is. for them to actually go and fix the house could delay the realse of gw2 by a month or two if not more. two thumbs up from me
Pandora's box
I'm afraid it will be more like a 2nd Prophecies, without heroes, a small skillset which won't grow because that makes it 'unmagageble' and with a new underwater level (do we really want that?) as compensation...
Eragon Zarroc
meh, w/e. it's been down long enough that it doesn't even matter that its just now been decided to be retired permanently. oh wells.

Anyway, nail in the coffin ftw.

Meh, my 3 extra accounts have been filling in nicely as mules etc for a while now.
Don't particularly care now, seeing as we haven't had it in forever. Had pretty much forgotten about it tbh. Still a fail though.

Finally a slight sign of functioning braincells.

I was assured that there was a record of what I was owed and that it would be made right.
To TPTB, you have the records. Why can't you simply put the keys into the accounts? What is the big deal to make this right?
I'm woefully tired of empty promises. And as you can see from other comments here you can see that others are as well.
I appreciate that the team is working on GW2, but that isn't an excuse to abandon the people who are participating in the current version of GW.
This is easily fixed. Why won't you fix it? Put the keys into our accts.

Thank you for letting us know for sure Regina. I guess I will forget about the 150+ points I was due on my primary account and the 130 on the secondary account.
Aussie Boy
Well I don't care about the house being up or down really but as many have said already including yourself Regina.
You have a record of who needs the points and promised we would get them so "I wants me points "
Easy way IMO "but then i don't know code" is add the points guy for a week only and give us all 100 points or something like that
if you don't get to him in that week it's tough luck.

Really? It took you this long to make this decision? You did an "extensive" review of the code? Instead of doing the intensive review, why not just rewrite?

While I am sad to see the XTH go, I have to say, I doubt anyone is surprised by this development. After all, it has been MONTHS since the XTH shut down, and there have been many posts about how they were trying to fix it, but other posts saying how a lot of the team was working on GW2 and the inordinately late skill balance (aka, the death of Shadow Form farming).
For me, the XTH was just about getting free z-keys and working on yet ANOTHER title. Just like Red Resign day, I knew that it would, eventually, be removed. So, what does this mean for me? That if I want a Z-key, I have to actually EARN it. This game used to have certain aspects that were laudable. I used to look at people with the rank emote and think, "wow, I'll NEVER be able to get that." Mainly because, it required skill in PvP, which I do not have. I looked at Obsidian armor and thought, "wow, I'll NEVER have the cash for something like that." Mainly because I didn't farm enough.
It is my OPINION that Z-keys were added as a reward for PvPers to use their fairly won Balthazar faction or Tournament Reward Points on after they've unlocked everything. The player base found ways to earn Z-keys in the easiest fashion, which made their "prestige" drop dramatically. Yes, the XTH allowed us to grab a ton of keys, but, if getting keys is important to a person, there are many other ways to go about it. And it is why I have chosen to look at the daily Zaishen Missions and Bounties as the new XTH. 1 gold z-coin = 1 z-key, as simple as that.

I hope the whole XTH database on the web page is removed.

I'd assume by the fact its been 5 pages since the question was 1st asked. Regina wont be replying saying we will/wont be getting our points from the may predictions. So that's that idea out the window.
but GG on the keys being back for pvp'ers.

please stop removing stuff! its not like we have a lot of new things to look forward to before gw2, aside from a skill balance here and there and some minis. sheesh, in 8 months, i could have recoded a new XTH 4 times over...

The very least we should be expecting, is that the last month's award is given out in light of the path of abandonment they've selected.
Unfortunately the least we expect, will turn to us expecting the least.
MagmaRed
Eitehr Regina is horrible at her job, or Anet screws her over royaly. Anyone who paid even minor attention to the XTH fiasco knew it was not coming back. The delay on them telling us could NOT have been because they were still working on it. It does not take that long to code or test something like that. Should have taken a month AT MOST to learn the system wasn't fixable. Should have taken a month AT MOST to code something new. I could care less that it is gone, but the info provided about it has been disastrous.
And as already noted, we were told points for May were KNOWN, and would be given when it was fixed. Since it isn't getting fixed we won't be getting those points. Yet surely Anet staff knew people would want to know this. Did Regina fail to tell us that info, or did they want to hide it for some reason?
I'd be happy, yes, truly happy, if they told us they were screwing up big time, making drastic mistakes, and not planning on fixing them. Instead, they are telling us nothing and expecting us to be patient. Do they realize this does not bode well for GW2 sales? Surely they must realize they are shooting themselves in the foot.
Anet, come clean. Tell us what the hell is happening, when it is happening, and stop hiding. The info we have gotten has been WRONG or nonexistant. Time for some accurate info that comes when it should. And GW2 production has been slow.... how about info on why it is so slow, and what we can expect from the game. The previews look nice, but we don't know any details about how the game plays, how GW and GW2 will connect, or anything that would help us decide if we want to buy it.
I pity Regina.... she has to be the one to look stupid for her companies mistakes.

Who cares, really? Anyone getting this butthurt over something from their online game needs to evaluate their priorities. |
Oh wait ...
Well, maybe GW2 will have PvP then.

Now they just need to remove the Zchest and Zkeys all together and titles and everything will be back to being awesome.

2 thoughts:
1) They suckered all those people into buying the xmas 2008 special deals on guild wars accounts at $10 a pop, because most of those were bought to do the xth each month. Any refunds coming?
2) Now zkeys will retain their value or go higher, the new bots for pvp which are being used to amass fortunes in faction/zkeys are going to be even more attractive to the mainstream player. These new undetectable super bots for pvp/festival/(soon to be applied to pve no doubt) that everyone is talking about should grow exponentially now there is going to be guaranteed good money in it. It is always about following the money trail. Good bye guild wars, hello bot wars. The end life of a game is always precursored by a rise in bots and this new undetectable bot signals the end to me. Bring back xth, kill zkey prices, and the bots are not as attractive. Kill xth, keep zkeys high priced, and bots will flourish. The strategy is clear: kill xth, keep silent on the new type of bots, monkey ---- around with skills that will piss of half the customer base having fun farming with them, and pray to god that the customers follow them to the gw2 promised land. (a smart sounding techie guy in the bot thread said that unless they change the gw2 engine, the new bots will be coming to gw2 also... maybe that is where they should divert the xth programer (single, not plural)).

lol...
Refunds?
The game accounts were never meant to be purchased just for you to get multiple TRPs each month. You're not gonna get refunds for something you volountarily decided to spend your money on, only because you planned to abuse it and now can't anymore.
Oh conspiracies!

Anyone holding out hope for those May points... the problem with XTH was always distribution, not recording predictions. If they couldn't fix that problem, they obviously can't distribute the May points. Demanding these isn't really any different then demanding the XTH be completely restored.
GoF
So now if I want the Zaishen title I'll only need over 100,000k gold.
Hilarious.
