Just keep playing and ignore them. Then when they abuse the report feature to get you dishonorable, screenshot the text showing up that you were reported with the party's full name list also. Send it in to Anet. Anet will look at the logs and take action. Might ban them.

This is sadly a standard when it comes to any game with some PvP side-action in it.

If it comes from an enemy, ignore it. Talking back could get you reported, and asshats love nothing more than to get that to happen.

If you're not doing so good and your teammates are a bit upset at that, let them know you're new to the game and be just be polite about it. This is what I would do when I started getting into Dota, and I was completely surprised to see them have such a change of attitude. It could go from "WTF YOU GODDAM NOOB" to "well...I'd get this item, it'd improve your survivability a bit". Show that you're willing to improve and you'd be surprised how nice people can become.

And, of course, turn of Local Chat ; ) If you feel that things'll get REAL intense, you can either go off-line or on Do Not Disturb (I wish *every* game had that feature...)

Once you're able to comfortably ignore all the shenanigans, then you can enjoy some of the most unique and fun MMO PvP out there : ) Good luck, kid!

You will get that type of treatment on any free game and community board like this one.This why I avoid the pvp areas.

I'd have a hard time recomending this game to anyone new to guildwars and
the PvP kit even more so.

The irony is that some of the people in this thread regularly do alot of what the op is complaining about on these fourms.

Really you call yourself a gamer you must only play single player games if you have been playing games all your life. Let me be the first to welcome you to online gaming. Also guild wars does not receive the reward for worst gaming community that would probably go to Heroes of Newerth.

Random arena is the absolute worst place to start this game

Unfortunately it is the easiest. It is one of the very few accessible arenas that do not require any type of networking or team formation, just a simple push of the button. It used to be a good arena, filled with new players, players testing out new (sic bad) builds, and player goofing off with known bad builds; after glad point title got introduced it instead filled with serious business players that made the arena unenjoyable and forced the former population out. While some might find enjoyment in that arena, a new player definitely will not.

I've been playing online games since Starcraft in 1995ish and Guild Wars has absolutely the worst community of any online game I've ever played. I don't bother pvping (or playing for that matter) because of all the 100% pure stupidity that flooded the AB I had to do for factions quests... not to mention all the asshattery in general & trade chat in towns and outposts. The only reason I can think kids feel the need to do this is because it's a free game and hey, mommy paid for it so who cares if they get banned? I've played various other free MMOs and every time I come back to check out Guild Wars I'm still hit by a wave of stupid when I enter a town.

OP, give up now and try to get a refund, this game isn't worth it. The game devs abandoned it over 2 years ago and will likely do the same to GW2 when they get bored with it.

The actual top players did that thing that the Elves did at the end of Lord of the Rings. Got on their longboats and left all the peasants in the dust.

The top players are more than happy to stick to the international or Asian districts, as well as H/Hing. They never have to interact with anyone but their own, leaving the populated servers for the 12 year olds to throw their tantrums.

The biggest problem with the internets is that it's a perfect democracy. Age, intelligence, freedom from undesirable mental or emotional defects doesn't figure into anything. There's really no way to slap that cretinous 12 year old upside the head unfortunately. Not in GW, not anywhere else.

I've been playing 2 years and I'm still a noob, handy with a Necro but noob at pretty much everyother prof. The noob callers are usually angry kids who don't know that caps lock can be turned off, just ignore them.

95% of the folks I speak to/play/trade with are decent, but there always one stupid moron who comes along once in a while, just have to get used to it I guess

Elitism leads to hostility. Hostility leads to rage. Rage leads to HA, GvG, and Solo/Dual SC PvE players who'd rather H/H, or simply quit/uninstall rather than play with a bunch of 12 year olds who just aren't old enough to know what "care" is to give it as well as play smart, and learn to play competitively at a competent level. There's always that one bad apple, and I see it time & time again. Who can blame 'em? I sure as hell can't.
