Apparently thou doth not remember the good ole days when you actually had to figure things out on your own. No pvx or wiki to tell you how to wipe your own A$$. I'm kind of glad they don't post exactly what is going on so people can't go 1-2-3-4 something and done.

I just need to make clear that anything said is all just forum talk, there is no real 100% fact yet about what is going to happen on April 23rd.
I was just trying to make some small points in how I understood things so far, if people think I made some mistakes than that's what the forum is for.
The EOTN completion is a theory I read on Guru2's 114 page topic on this so far so my information maybe a little outdated since yesterday.
@Garreth MacLeod, thank you for bringing that thread to my attention.

Actually Im pretty sure that anet cares they just need someway to make money. With a lack of new players coming into the game anet has no way to make money other then to offer microtransactions in the form of costumes now. It is either anet offers these transactions or we don't play a game anymore. Not only do they need the money to maintain gw1 servers they need the money for devolpment of gw2.
|
If Anet has no way of making money to develop GW2 besides Macro-transactions (not a typo, look up "microtransaction"), it's their own bloody fault. They made an error in allocating too many development resources to GW2 at the expense of GW1, probably because they underestimated the time it would take to complete GW2, or they grossly overestimated the time that minor content addition that was EotN would keep people interested.
Now they push disproportionately-priced "perks" (including ones that affect gameplay) and beseech us to support them so they can finish GW2, about which they still won't give us any information resembling something concrete. If they're this far in and still haven't determined things like how the HoM is going to tie in or what the combat system will be like, then there's no way the project can do anything but crater. And even Anet isn't that bad (I hope) which says they know they're just keeping it to themselves.
Do I have a problem with things like costumes available for microtransactions? Hell no. But when a costume costs $8, someone is smoking some really good stuff.
I'd say being jaded/cynical about the birthday update is more than warranted at this point. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me 5 times...

You people talk about a lack of new players as if it's fact.
It's not. Also hi.

Do we have an IRC channel for all this #dismantle #obey?

That's right, because you can 1234 your way into a mysterious campsite (that has no use as of now) out in the middle of nowhere in Kryta, right ? To most players they have NO IDEA such things take place mostly because for one, they took this update right after the April 1st prank which led a lot of players to believe that the update had the original build prior to April 1st. They could have given out a LOT more hints to the casual gamers.

In the meantime, the people who are scouring the wiki, facebook and fora are getting a deserved teaser taste of things to come.

I haven't seen any game on guru? Guess I need to browse other forums outside Q&A, riverside and farming .

# affixed words are hashtags, which in Twitter are 'To group posts together by topic or type'.

Alright, but what does facebook have to do with twitter? (sorry for my stupid questions, I'm no facebook or twitter pro ).
P.S. I know how twitter works with hashtags now (thanks for the post below me), but still: why do people post with # on facebook?

The cool thing is that these tags are tracked, so if a ton of people start using the same hashtags in their posts, it may cause the topic to becoming a "trending topic". Trending topics appear on a list on the main site, so you can see the hot topics that people across the site are talking about.
Here's a link to a cool Twitter help article that explains the system in a little more detail.
And now you know! (As a sidenote, I'll probably post random bits of info like this on occasion, because I personally geek out over social stuff like this )

I sure would appreciate one of the Community Managers giving us a clear idea of what needs done in order to trigger the dialogue between Thackeray and Gwen, the Shining Blade Camp in Talmark Wilderness, and any future things such as these. Restricting players' access to this new content on account of not knowing for certain how to get to it is not nice... not that I think they're restricting this information on purpose (read: to be spiteful), but it would probably eliminate a lot of concerns and theorycrafting on how to activate these things to just be told how it works.

To see the Shining Blade Camp in Talmark Wilderness, you must have completed Prophecies or Eye of the North. We were not waiting for any sort of external trigger (on social networks, for example) before adding that to the actual game.
Those two in-game additions were scheduled by the Live Team. We on the Community Team and on Web have been running a small-scale teaser campaign (as you may have seen on Guild Wars 2 Guru) to support Live Team additions to the game. You will see in the coming weeks that the web site will have some more content that will support whatever it is the Live Team has in store for later in the month...

I only use one character and have done the three campaigns and the expansion with her, so I'm not asking for myself, I know I'm fine and I've seen the camp-- just asking for general forum information purposes.

It wouldve sucked so bad if it did. But I also wonder if this quests is limited to some date.
Am betting there will be more quests, perhaps a follow up on this GW soap.

Some people (including one of my guildmates who I know is trustworthy) are reporting being able to see the camp after completing EotN instead of Prophecies. Is this an error, or should that be considered another legitimate option for seeing it?

If it's obvious that the two colored spots are the factions' banners I don't need to say much more about that. Only thing I can think otherwise that might be of use was that when I looked at the blurred banner section of the image....
...I noticed that the white pattern on it seems to be skewed, and if you turn it ninety degrees clockwise, it appears to be close to the correct orientation for the real banner.
Judging by the similarities of the white portions, I'd say that the second image was merely the first one flipped and made less obscured, and that the actual bottom of the image is either the left or the right side; given that it's Mantle versus Blade and given how graphic designers like to orient things, I'd say the Blade's banner would be on bottom of the image, but I haven't got any reasoning beyond that which I'd actually trust.
If that's true, though, then the white portions would seem to be glare coming from the side of the image. That makes me want to say the image is a screen from a location in-game. Beyond that I run into to many mental 'variables' and not enough viable reasoning to be worth sharing.

Is it possible....that the 2 banners in the fuzzy picture are actually just there to prevent us from seeing what the true picture is? Yes, we know that (98%) they are the banners, but what if they are they to just cover up a more important part of the picture? Just a thought.
Allamorph
I reason that if it's a promo ad, which it very likely is, then the image would also serve as part of the viral deal and be intended for player use, meaning the banners are the focal point, and that anything they might 'obstruct' wouldn't interfere with the background's clue.
Kityn
Those appear to be figures above each banner. Right side for Shining Blade and Left for White Mantle each facing off the other. No idea what is in the middle of them.

Wow. No need to get so touchy. I never said it was manipulated by the devs, so you can take back your assumptions.

So much going on with the Shining Blade and suddenly a Mursaat feature. There lies the irony.
