I'm sure you worked a lot on costumes, but as a complete GW chapter cost at their max price 50$ (despite the complete game is 20$ now) and costumes are 10$,
Can u faithfully tell that making the costumes took 1/5 of resources, time and money of makinf a complete campaing? Because if took, then i have no more to say, if wont took, then costumes seems to me like a rip off, but hey, if cows are happy with being milked that it would be dumb to not squeeze the cow!, thats how bussiness work: to get the maximum profit for the minimum investment.

And after all that, they still all clip horribly?
Well, "clip" is technically the wrong word, but I'm not sure how else to describe the annoyance of my feet going through my robes all the bloody time.

That happens with some armors as well. This means they probably don't test their armor art in anything but the character's paper doll pose...

I know. It's a regular thing for anything with long coats or dresses.
But it's impressive how they could get it right for the two Ranger long coats*, all Dervish armours, some of the Mesmer armours* but not all and not the Grenth costume and Mantle one (the latter two being things you have to pay for).

*Well there are some issues with these, but at least not when running.

As a software engineer i resent that comment. My Stick men are quite lovely thank you very much.

BTW, our designers weren't working on the costumes. I think it would be interesting if designers rather than artists worked on costumes, but probably not something we could release to the public.
I'm curious about something... did the artists and QA test the costumes with anti-aliasing turned on? The flickering that we see on the costumes and several EotN armors is not normal. Anet has alot of amazing artists working for them, but they are doing something wrong. I wish they could identify the problem and try to correct it.

Bleh, never noticed the flickering, white pixels until after I read your post and started looking for it

Ah, noticed something. Setting your Shader Quality to low lessens the amount of white pixels to a certain extent. It's mostly set to low at my machine as to strain it not too much. Though it is a bit foolish to tone down the graphic quality to improve another part of the visuals

I've never seen this flicker - those that are seeing it, are you all using nVidia gfx cards? I know one person said they were. (I use ATI)

Nvidia indeed.

I tried to capture a screenie, but the flicker and white pixels won't show up on the screenshot for some reason.

I'm using an Nvidia card right now, but I've noticed the flickering with older and newer ATI cards as well.

If you're not seeing it, I'm going to assume that you have anti-aliasing and shader quality set to low. Setting them to at least medium and going to a populated outpost should reveal a few glittery figures.

I have the Grenth costume and the hands are super easy to screenshot. The rest of the costume also does this, but as Arduin pointed out, it's not so easy to capture sometimes!

No - I have everything set to max, except shadow quality which is medium. And I don't see the glitter effect. I do have post-processing turned off though - I haven't tried turning it on yet, to see if it makes any difference. I also play in a Window, and I have DirectX 9 under Windows XP, not 10.

Edit: No difference with post processing turned on, or switching to full screen. I don't see any glitter effect.

Edit2: OK, I think I see the effect if I wear the Grenth costume, zoom right in, and look very closely between the fingers of the hands. It's clearly not as severe on my screen, as it is on other people's - because I have to try pretty hard to be able to see it.

That's because they linked the bottom of the coats to the bones of the character, no clipping but it looks like the coat hem is stapled to your boots as a trade off...

FWIW I'm definitely seeing bad flickering in the Blade costume, although I never really noticed it in earlier costumes. ATI Radeon, DX9, everything set to max. It's very distracting and disappointing, because I love the costume.

See it now with my ATI 5770 and saw it with my older Nvidia 8800 gts.

It's pretty bad. Only really noticeable with armors from EOTN and beyond.

Today I just logged in to GW after several months of absence.
Not finding anything new, I moved to the wiki to see what was the 5th year update.

This: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fifth...ry_Celebration
Then I compared it with this: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fourt...ry_Celebration

and saw a little link called "ADDITIONAL ADDED CONTENT". http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fourt...content_update

Last year the team managed to pull out Zaishen Menagerie, Zaishen Challenges, Nicholas the Traveler, Storage upgrades, Makeover Packages, Name changes and stuff (some of wihch had a price tag, and that was good).
That was an awesome content update.

This year the same team pulled out... what? a couple of costumes? (10 euros the two of them?)
Oh, wait... according to Regina, the costumes were made by the artists that are now working on GW2.

So... the thing the live team is doing is the war in kryta. I really hope that the things seen until now are just an appetizer.

As for the costumes, I like them but I think that they are way overpriced.
With 10€ I can buy a full game, that will entertain me more than 2 new skins for my characters.
For me, they should have been at no more than 2.5€ each.

Well, as great as the costumes look however, can we ever expect to see bug fixes like with the flicker being tossed around in this thread, and the clipping? This is future tenths and not being asked of a certain date, but we should know if it will be looked into considering we still payed money for it, and it is glitchy.

My Dwayna's Regalia looks okay with setting at high. Does this also show up on other people's characters and not just yours? There's a mantle disguise and blade uniform next to me but I don't see it on them.

Graphic quality of Armor on other character are set on low in towns. You wouldn't see the flaws.

Yeah, okay, thanks. Didn't think I would but wanted to make sure. I'll have to get a Grenth's costume and check that one.

There is more coming with the War In Kryta. Sheesh, how many times has it been said around here

What is in at the moment is an appetiser for what is to come which will roll out over a few months, though slightly delayed at the moment cause of Lindsey being sick

I wish that was true! The texture quality may be low, but they definitely flicker in outposts. It's really noticeable if you zoom out or put some distance between you and the crowd.

To be honest, I've never seen the flickering, only the white pixels on the edges. I'll look more closely next time I log on.

No option to set all peoples armour to highest quality in towns and KSmod doesn't work anymore, bah!

For a five year gift for would it be so hard to add a drop down box in the option menu that allowed maximum quality?

That sounds like a useful and practical idea that people might actually appreciate... but what I think you're really saying is that you'd like Anet to give us some new summoning stones for the 5th year Birthday celebrations...
