Is there that one character that you have on your account, you never use, but you just can't get yourself to delete?
For example, my main character for the longest time is a warrior and she is my oldest character, going on 5 in another yearish. Problem is, I now have 2 warriors, and never use her anymore. I just use my other since she is prettier, has a more original name, great armor, more skills, better geared heroes etc etc.
I wanna start a new warrior to start getting some titles. since both of mine don't have legendary survivor (before the title existed). My mes is at 26 (stopping there....no money titles for me.) and I just wanted to start over to hold me over till gw2.
Now to my problem, I just can't get myself to delete her! I don't wanna spend 10 more bucks on another slot, shes the closest to getting me a free 5 year mini (even though my hall is full and I don't care for minis much. ), I have so much fan fiction about her. I am just so torn up to delete her despite just being some data on a server.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there someway you can push me to delete her? What convinced you to delete this character of yours?
That one character....

If you don't like the character, delete it if you don't have any other options. Yeah, the 4 year old issue would be an obstacle. Oh well? Not much more I can say...i deleted characters until I settled on a set that I was happy with. It cost me 5 characters which would all have been 5 years old now (as well as many others at 2-3 years old) but que sera.
Iv been having this same problem with my dervish... Iv had him for over two years (he actually got me nice minis for the first two birthdays so i guess i can't complain) but he is only lvl 19 and i cant pull myself to delete him. The reason is because I got some nice weapons for him early on that I customized. Its gotten to the point that I just use him as a storage character now.
My advice for you is to go ahead and buy the new slot if you really want a new character that bad. Personally, I would never buy a new slot but I never wanted to create a new character as badly as it appears you want to and I always used my PvP slot in the past to create new characters (that I ended up deleting a few days later so I could make a new PvP character for whatever reason). If I were in your position though, I would rather pay 10 dollars than delete my oldest character, especially if he were almost 5 years old.

I like creating characters, and for the longest time was unable to allow myself to delete them---but I got over it and have deleted a bunch---none of them more than level 4 though (one was 2 years old, deleted her after she got her mini)....
with the stylist now I can 'change' the look of my characters (I just do the previews...no need to spend the money)....so that has gotten me kinda over my 'fix' of character creation---though I see a warrior and a ranger on my radar for deletion soon! (warrior is my pre-post character so she was created TO be deleted periodically anyways).
but my older characters no, I thought very long and hard before I made them so a hairdo make over was all they got (mostly because of clipping type issues).

I've got a Dervish who I made last summer as sort of a self-sustained challenge (no access to storage). I messed around with different builds and made a Lyssa Dagger Spammer for kicks. Sadly, she's not seeing much use these days as I've been focusing on getting GWAMM on the main. Seeing how fun the "challenge" was, I can't bring myself to delete her. That and I really like her name and style, as it fits a theme with my other two Dervishes (<Name> the <Elemental Color>).
My poor Monk hasn't seen playtime in years, but I can't delete him because I love the name, which is in reference to my favorite Korean food. Lastly, my PvP sin needs to get the axe because I maxed Kurzick last month, but like the others, he just has an awesome name that I don't want anyone else to have (subtle nod to a recent Republican presidential candidate that didn't make the cut).
Being so close to five years old, I'd keep the character.

I've got a level 20 elementalist on my account that I never play, but will never delete. He's maybe my second-oldest, if not the oldest on my account, so I keep him around for birthday presents and storage.
I don't play him because I don't care for playing elementalist, I hate how he looks, I hate his name, can't be arsed to pay for changing those, don't have room to jam all the stuff he carries into other places, don't see any exciting reason to start playing him again, don't really have the time to be dicking around with another character like that, I hate how little progress I've made with him over the years...
To think that I used to believe he would be my main. Then I deleted the first ranger I ever made, which was also the first character I completed Prophecies with, and then made Shayne, and he and I quickly became inseparable. The elementalist was left in the dust, and my last big push I made with him was completing Nightfall before completely ditching any efforts to do anything with him.
That's why the option to put your character names in your profile was removed. By now though, people should realize that revealing your character name is a level of risk. If people want to talk about their character names with anyone on here, doesn't seem like a problem to me.

I'm like that with my Paragon. I've got 1 of each class, each lvl20, and an extra monk that I just brought over from pre so I could 55 in Kryta without the WiK stealing my aggro. Anyways... That's the main reason I keep her. She's my only Paragon. I seldom use my ranger either even though it's fun to play.
Side note... Isn't it a bad idea to put your character's names on a public forum, given the rash of account hacks?

16 characters on my main account, some of them are hardly used, if at all.
Yet every character of mine has his/her own background story.. Some of them are pretty much mementos of different periods of a quite troubled life: it's fun to see how I came to utterly different styling choices through times, subconsciously reflecting my mood.
Every time I look at them, I remember the inspiration, the motivations that brought me to the creation of each of them, so I can't just delete any, I keep on buying new slots and accumulate...

My ritu. She's weak and boring, and for the moment I don't want to spend time changing completely her build and everything, and I dodn't even know if I would enjoy her even with another build. But I don't like deleting, I'd rather buy a new slot. And in the meantime an unused char can be a good mule.
my paragon he was my very first lvl 20 character ( and i had prophecies and factions way longer than NF) got him his hierophant spear and vabbi armor hes 4 years old and ive had the game for about 5+ years now took me a year to finnaly get a character i liked...i loved and still love the wings from the chants and such

I have 9 chars and I play all of them (all profs except para. nothing against paras, I just don't want to spend the money). I used to have two wars but I deleted the 1 year old one in favor of the four year old one. My sin is gwamm and the rest have all of their prof's skills and runed heroes and have completed all campaigns and eotn. I think the fact they are all very developed makes it really easy to pick up any one of them and just play. There's also never a shortage of anything to do, given how I have to juggle zaishens (and now wanteds) for 9 characters.
I enjoy playing each one because they all take different mindsets and all have different strengths and weaknesses. Experimenting with a different build is always fun too. Course..my monk is perhaps the most boring. Just roj roj roj. Thankfully anet said they are looking at smiting prayers.
