Worried about being banned?
Deakon
I just brought a monk from pre to use in Kryta to 55 without running into WiK. I know that Bergen Hot Springs used to be filled with bots before the ban. But now when I go there with my 55 to do some fairly easy farming, I can't help but feel a little paranoid that someone may be watching and think I'm a bot. From what I've gathered here on Guru, there's a lot of self-appointed GW police who like to report. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I've done my fair share of reporting bots and leechers in JQ. I'm just wondering if others are feeling as paranoid as I am about it. Am I just being silly or do solo farmers run a higher risk now (since the bans) of being banned?
P.S. I've never started a thread here before so forgive me if I did this wrong.

I was thinking the same thing when I went farming today.

I have done many feather farms from bergen.
You have nothing to fear. Simply repeating things does not a bot make. There's FAR more ways to catch them.
Such as when they say "F1cbah23" in chat when they break and so on. Playing the game normally will not get you banned.

Hahaha,
Yeah I hear ya. Well, I'd do the same as PowerRAV...
- Run around like a headless chicken in outposts;
- Make witted Gwen jokes in All Chat;
- Don't join a Guild with a [Bot] tag;
- Don't name your character Asdf Ghjk;
- Reply to random whispers (being friendly helps);
- Take breaks
- Lat but not least: Enjoy the game, stop being paranoid.

As long as your name isn't Asfj Kjksf or something similar and your not farming 24/7 (literally) your fine, its rather easy to tell the difference between a bot, and a human farming.
Lord Sojar
Yeh, farm all you want. They use upwards of 20 different metrics to ID bots manually. You are fine.
Eragon Zarroc
nah, not really worried about being banned. but then again, i don't play as much as i used too ;-)

haha ya I was drinking in my gh a while today and when one of our allies came in, i started runnin circles to show i wasn't botting lol. Dhuum makes me paranoid :P

Funny, but some of the old HFFF bots used to do "random" stuff like that... and that's one of the things that made it obvious they were bots. (HFFF was so tedious and repetitious, human players did not waste their farming time doing random stuff. If they weren't afk or interacting with other people... they just ran out the door as fast as their little legs could carry them).
Interact with people, if you really want to show you're not a bot.
Wicked Sweet
Well I havn't monk farmed Bergen since I recieved a perma ban for it even though I am not a bot (after two weeks of looking at my account they did give it back though).

I'm confident that Anet doesn't ban anyone just because they were reported.
Their records need to confirm that something "illegal" was taking place before they do.

paranoid, ya.....
now we worry about getting banned for no reason
we worry about getting hacked for the lax security.
yeah gw is probably giving me grey hairs already

I think most, if not all, of them contact support and they review the situation and revoke the ban. Most players, even running the same build and farm, will not act the same as a bot.
Lord Dagon
oh yea i got this big time.
creeped me out when i started working on my sin/monk when it hit me that if i farmed like i used to over the sumer9almost 24/7) then theres a good chance i could be mistaken for a bot not a bored teen pulling an all nighter feather farm to buy something.
so ye ai hear you :P

Sold a Miniature Princess Salma to a tattooed mini-monk in LA yesterday. As soon as I clicked "Accept", the fear of these ectos being the revenue of botting struck me.

I traded with a bot and now I have infected ectos :S

Nah. Unless you are a BEAST at farming, you're not gonna be ID'ed as a bot. Play along, citizen.

OT: No, I am not worried about getting banned. I used to occasionally /dance every now and then when I ran into a zone to farm, but I figure that the fact that I always do things a little differently proves me to not be a bot.

I farm in elite armor no matter what. So I'm pretty sure I won't seem like a bot, unless bots bot in elite armor.
Yo dawg I put a bot in elite armor, so you can get rich while you look rich
(And I'm not rich, just an addict to elite armor)

If you're not botting you shouldn't be worried anyway.

ANYONE that plays a monk and is in Bergen Hot Springs I report now just to be on the safe side. If you're not a bot you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Although I've never been a fan of that gimmick 55 monk build. So one side of me hopes you get banned for that opinion alone. Ban all the gimmicks and we'll have a great nice game again with fair players and players who don't cheat or exploit the mechanics of the game.

I agree that the 55 build is a gimmick but it's hardly a cheat or exploit. I understand your viewpoint I just disagree with the terminology you use.

Nope.
Main cash flow has been farming on a 55 and trading pets often involving large and repetitive transactions.
I have no fear of repetitive actions and give Anet the responsibility of segregating me from the botters.Has worked so far.
No need to be fearful, even if you got banned a clearly written email would solve the issue.

Honestly, it still isn't even remotely hard to avoid being labeled a bot, even if you actually are botting. The advent of Dhuum didn't stop botters. It just stopped script kiddies. (Bots actually take some effort to get working now, but not enough to be a bother.)
Yol
Every time you load into Bergen after farming, go to the npc's Andar, Dannel, Penelope and Josef so that it looks like you are doing the hot springs murders quest. Bots aren't programmed to do quests, so you'll stand out from all the monk bots who run to the merchant and then to the signpost.
