I have to say I'm really disappointed in the WiK stuff. They hyped it up to such an awesome degree only to let it plummet to a disgusting, splattery death.

The occasional bounty isn't any different than simply doing the Z-bounties. If I wanted to loiter around and wait for something to do, I'd just stick with that. Plus, the rewards are totally laughable. Trek all the way to Kessex Peak in HM for an extra one (1) war supply? Yeah, I'll get right on that.

I feel like a fool for getting excited over this, only to be let down in such a spectacular way.

According to unsubstantiated reports, the White Mantle is assembling their forces for a massive confrontation with the Shining Blade. I’ve heard reports from common folk fleeing south, fearful of being caught in the path of the huge assemblage if it marches on Lion’s Arch.

I will investigate these claims as best as I am able and provide more information tomorrow.

I was expecting WiK to be something epic because in most games they go all out if its a bridge over to their new game or expansion. Usually the goal is to leave a lasting impression and leave customers in anticipation for what will come next.

I'm just not getting that with this war But, I still enjoy the game I'm just not one of those people waiting for any small detail in the WiK

I love the new foes and quests. Their builds aren't perfect, but they've created many fond memories. Thank you Anet.

Get it right without rushing something terribad.

It takes months to make these quests and mini missions. Please give the devs a break. When new content is ready they will release it.

Wow what unrealistic expectations you have!

You expect there to be prompt and constant updates from a company that is going to release a game "when it's done?"

It'll happen...eventually. Don't bet on it every Thursday.

I agree with the people that Anet really hype the WiK content just to have it somewhat disappointing in the end result.

When the WiK first started all there was really was just the website with the guy talking about whats going on and the addition of lvl 24+ enemies to an area where henchmen are only lvl 10.. "PRINCESS SALMA DECLARES WAR" Hell ya did we have apart in that? NO. "SKIRMISH IN THE CURSED LANDS" again was the players involved? NO. Here is the best "CHEERS, TEARS AS SALMA ARRIVES IN LION’S ARCH" Holy crap the Shining Blades somehow drove out the White Mantle from Lion's Arch. I sure am glad I was there fighting side by side with them in this historic event. Oh wait I wasn't.

The first part just came off as if you were just watching TV. You hear about all the battles and other events but the player wasn't involved, which was a huge disappointment. It would have been awesome if Anet made it a new mission where you help the Shining Blades take Lion's Arch. The new "Wanted" was nice but it defeated the enjoyment when you kill the same boss for the 3rd time. OK new missions are nice when they become available every blue moon but it does suck how I have to take lvl 10 henchmen (with my heroes) to do a mission where they get killed in a second by a very overpowered Jade Cloak or a group larger than 2 things.

It's nice Anet is making new content, it's just that the new content is dull and sometimes really boring (the dialog you HAVE to sit threw). The War in Kryta just doesn't feel like this huge epic important war it was made out to be.

I got an idea. How about Anet remove all the free content and you erase it from your memory. We can all pretend it never happened, you'll have nothing to complain about and this thread will never exist!!! Brilliant!!

OK good for you if your idea of fun is standing in the distance watching stuff happen or reading about events instead of being apart of it.

Hey I put all 10 of my professions through it all. I've paid my dues, watched all the dialogues and put in the time. NOW I'm playing through the content and BEING A PART OF IT. I never said all the prerequisites to the WiK were fun but I sucked it up and did them. Now I am having fun. Believe it or not some people (excluding yourself) actually want a plot and a story line to what they are doing. The dialogues themselves were a breeze. I just did them each time I decided to step away from the keyboard.

And some people have real lives and only do this on 1 or 2 characters. Good for you that you are epic 1337 and appreciate the people that leave pennies in the tray for you at the gas station. That's free to right!

Yeah, he was in "captivity" for a while. Meaning that Anet forgot about him accidentally or something (like the Scribe).

Does anyone else think it's ironic that the Canthans are throwing a huge party while Tyria is at war? Obviously, they should be aware of the war. Murro was literally just there. But nah, they're getting drunk and playing dodgeball.

Just seems....out of place....

I work a full time job, hang out with friends, take care of my family and yet I still found time to do what I did. Good for me. These people whom are only capable of taking 1-2 characters through the WiK content should have less to complain about and less to do. What seems to be the problem with them? It's not like this content was released last night. We've had a lot of time and the bounties have recycled already. No one is missing anything and Anet didn't rush this content out. So don't give me none of that ,"epic 1337" crap. It is what it is.

In real life countries still have parties(Cinco de mayo, 4th of July etc.) while other countries are at war. However, Cantha must have some worry on the impacts on trade the Shining Blade's takeover must have...

Anyways I'm just not that interested in farming white mantle, thats not a war to me. I'm still waiting on the sidelines until the action starts up.

For the love of god! Can't you people just give Anet a break?

It's only been 2 weeks since the last WiK update . . . 2 weeks! Can't you people wait? Or does Guild Wars consume so much of your life that there is nothing else to do while waiting?

You got two choices:

1= Enjoy the content that you already have. I heard the Dragon Festival was this weekend!

2= Get a life.

The only grief I have is that anet *should* update proph henchies bars. White mantle are running bars from all campaigns, and its laughable how crappy henchies are. You're getting screwed by escape r/ds with scythes running gimmick Ha builds that are nerfed from backlash from players while alesia throws a healing breeze your way.

eh not that dissappointed adn i rather like teh quests.. even brough em to proph.. rare in and of itself.

the bars do need updating. maybe hold a contest for proph bars like what they did for pvp? jsut an idea less work or the team better builds for us. we all win.
but yea cut anet some slack. they got like 5 ppl and like 4 of them are illiterate janitors.

Yes , Dragon festival is fun if you never ever did it.... but for some people who did it already 3-4 times, ...
The announcement of the festival is exactly the same than last year , so do the quests , the mini-games ( not even costume brawl ... ) , rewards , etc.... However , they said the mask would be diferent ..

Anyway , yes , someone pointed a nice thing : canthan people making a festival while there's a war in kryta... . Maybe there will be a link with that " dragon " they're talking about , like this dragon festival make the dragon they talk about appear

Guess what? The Shining Blade did not drive out the White Mantle from Lion's Arch because the White Mantle were never IN Lion's Arch. We were told, all the way back when we first arrived in LA, that Firstwatch Sergio and the Lionguard do not allow Mantle inside the city itself, even though the Mantle are running Kryta. All Salma had to do was travel there and take up residence in the Keep. So, you didn't miss a bit of fighting.

And a valid grief at that, but unfortunately it won't happen because people who only have Prophecies will use those same henchies. To be able to fight those White Mantle, you must have MOX (for the Trial), which requires us to have all three campaigns and all the wonderful skills that come with them.

I just hope it gets better.

I'm not one to complain normally but the whole WiK thing is so exciting to me that I decided to do quests on 9 toons to get all of my missing EotN skills...yeah. I stopped doing WiK on all of them after Riverside. Wanteds are just like ZB's which also have grown tiresome from repetitiveness. Wow JK, QQ moar...

Just seems like a lot of effort to watch all the dialogue, get infused on my toons that are not, do the preliminary quests, and then do the mini missions for some rewards, one of which we don't even know the use for yet.

Idk, maybe I'm just getting cranky with old age.

Have fun at the Dragon Festival this weekend all...

it really doesn't make sense lore-wise! how can the white mantle arrest people when they're not in charge? surely people would notice them and call on the lionguard? why would the mantle be bothering with arresting citizens from following the krytan law, when they've been condemned as criminals? (from the wanted descriptions and occasional murrow posts). i really hope they pick up the pace soon and unbalance the rewards if they want anything. why are some wanted quests so frugal with rewardss whilst others may as well be giving you war supplies? seriousley i think just about everyone has got a mini from wik by now.
also adding tedious quests doesn't make WiK fun, before i couldn't be bothered to get all my characters through various dialogues, now i can't bear to trudge along divinity coast twice or plow through hordes of white mantle just so i can continue the story. seriousley this was late for the 5th annniversary but that was a long while ago, its sad to see something that was so exciting just become boring like this.

Anet has already exceeded my expectations regarding the amount of content provided for WiK. The existence of new enemies (the enforcers) alone means that more than just the live team was mobilized for it.

Anyone who expected more has significantly overestimated the resources devoted to GW by Anet.

All I would have hoped for was more text. I mean, double the text is easy to do, compared to all the other content forms.

I agree. I always said it suck how the new White Mantle and even the new Peacekeepers have skill bars that have more than just one class with a hard resurrection skill. I can't tell you how frustrated I got when I was doing the "Temple of the Intolerable" mission to be killed off just to come back to find the 15 enemies I killed brought back to life. Or how slow and aggravating some fights are (more so in hard mode) against the new White Mantle where you kill someone, just to have them brought back. You kill the person who revived them to have them brought back back a different enemies and so on.

Personally, I don't mind the slow updates. I've always defended A-net when they've been slow because the live team is tiny. No helping that.

My guff is that this "epic war" is both far from epic and war. They hyped it up to be something it can't be. All it turned into was a bunch of enemies to farm endlessly.

I may be wrong, but GW had plenty of enemies to farm and grind before WiK.

A little off subject but hopefully Guild Wars 2 won't turn out like the WiK. With all the "New" features that will be in game it honestly seems impossible to be able to pull it off. It's coming off as if I'm listening to the game details of Fable. They promise all these features never seen in other MMORPG's it just seems to be to good to be true.

OK back on subject what I meant in that comparison is hopefully Guild Wars 2 won't be like the War in Kryta, a very over hyped disappointment.

I don't find that a viable excuse because this is a prelude to GWII, it's supposed to build hype and it doesn't make sense not to have more resources devoted to it inorder to make it something remarkable to keep us excited for what is to come in the future.

The above post is proof of my point on how the WiK is our last feelings before GWII

It was painfully obvious that we wouldn't get a new update during the Dragon Festival. Splitting the playerbase when introducing new content is not a good idea. Chillax, they just updated Murro to let us know that something big is coming, presumably next weekend.

Build hype? The only people who know about the WiK are those who are already playing, and to a lesser extent those who read the forums. It's certainly not building the hype any more than the interviews and previews are doing / will do. The purpose of the WiK is simply to keep us somewhat entertained and engaged by the lore of GW, and to resolve some minor plot threads (most of which we already know the outcomes of, and this is just to show us how it happened).

This is not advertising for GW2. This is just being done to fill time, like MOX, and as long as they're filling time they might as well give us something that we'll be able to connect to GW2 when it finally releases.

Anet is a huge disappointment in this case. theirs no armies marching, no immersive story line just a bunch of senseless dialogs telling you the same sh*t over and over again.

the fact is untill theirs cut scenes, epic battles and missions this "end game content" or "guildwars and beyond" content is another zeshion rip off idea to keep players intrested
