Post Your Most Embarrassing GW Moment!
Timey
The first time I went raptor leeching I was like 'oh cool I can just sit here afk and get asuran rep' so I joined a group and then left the room for a few. Needless to say I probably went through a few rounds without actually talking to the bounty guy and actually getting any rep. When I came back the farmer had died, everyone else was gone (to the second shrine) and were yelling at me to zone. Pretty embarrassing u.u!

My most embarrassing moment...(and a really long moment it was)...was when I first started playing guildwars in the first week of factions release. I bought guild wars factions because I really liked the fact that they had assassins and it was free to play once you bought it (I was like 13, and my parents wouldn't have liked paying monthly subscription fees).
Anyways, I then played it for a while with my newly created assassin daily for about 4 or more hours a day. Shortly afterward, I heard how there was a much bigger region (mainland cantha) to explore once I got past the starter island I was currently in (Shing Jea). I heard it would take only a day or so to leave the island. Eventually, I reached the last little bit of the Island just before Zen daijun where you had to go to the aid of the teachers or something. It took me about a week to get this far due to me constantly dying... Due to how I thought the quest was so hard, I thought it must have been the last thing you had to do before leaving for the mainland. At the time, I remember pugging so much with lots of people for about 3 days before FINALLY completing it. I was wandering why so many people who were around the same level as me survived longer and why I kept dying. I also thought that most of the player base was horrid as I couldn't understand why so many people started leaving me before the quest ended and called me a noob...
So, when I did finally finish the mission ON MY OWN with henchies and luck, I was like, 'YES FINALLY!!!' but then I was like 'you've got to be joking...' when I found out that I still couldn't get to the mainland and that I had another mission to do, Zen Daijun. Thinking that no other quest/mission could be as hard and annoying as the aiding teachers from afflicted quest, I did it hoping it would be easy. It was not. I pugged a lot and died a lot. Most people left midway through the mission, though I do remember one pug attempt where we made it to the end but I kept death charging into the boss at the end and this monk had to keep rezzing me... and yeah...it really didn't help much...and they all left.
After many failed attempts I stopped for a couple days. When I came back on and continued to fail, I eventually found this one pug, which were quite err...skeptical... When we reached the end and our monk died trying to res me along with our only other non-res sig rezzer , and it didn't look good, they all became skeptical as to why I kept dying to say it in a nicer way...
One of them asked me what armor I was using and, not knowing I could craft armor yet, I said starter armor...they all left, but not without calling me a noob amongst other things...
So yes, when i finally found out about crafting armor...I was like...oh...that was an embarrassing 2-3 weeks. On the bright side...I finally made it to the mainland, in my new seitung armor, (which costed me most of my money)....before finding out you could craft max armor shortly afterwards
EDIT: I probably didn't help in giving assassins a better reputation than they had at the time.

I've done the wrong-secondary elite capping more than once (or leaving without a signet).
I remember one time I wanted to do this Z-bounty on all my characters. I grabbed my mule and jumped in a pug, last one for the day. I only realized when we started that I didn't have a weapon. I played almost the whole way unarmed, shooting fire bare-handed. I equipped the first staff that dropped and hoped no one had noticed.
I think the most costly embarrassment was the elite Kurzick mask. It clips out the back of my ranger's long, flat hair, and looks like I have horns. Completely wasted. Worse, I went into the HoM and when I put in my elite Sunspear (no mask purchased) I realized I could still display it fully. So, technically, I could have seen what I looked like with the elite Kurzick mask, if I had only known. Also, that clipping was shown on wikia images, I had only checked the wiki, which displays females with short hair.

Customized a Silverwing Recurve Bow during the first week of EoTN not realizing how much that skin was going to be worth.

Probably last night...some old friends of mine and me decided to do urgoz...and ofc they all asked me to setup builds for them and their heros (which took ages cause they dont have all the skills unlocked xD ) and we spent probably an hour and a half setting up builds. Then we finally go in and are rolling everything. Then, we get to the room were you need necrotic traversal...and they just hear me on vent say "shiiiiiitttttt"...as of course...I had forgotten to give anyone traversal xD

I merched a q9 Clockwork Scythe because I didn't understand the trade scene back then, and 400g seemed like a huge fortune to me.
Also ran the Zen Daijun mission way back in the day and was trying to help this low level player out. I kept asking him if he was ready, but he never responded back to me. It was only after the guy left that I realized I had the team chatbox unchecked. I must have made him red in the face, because he was apparently shouting and swearing on the other side of the chat box.

Few to share..
1. kept putting enchants on a NPC for my first 55 or 600 characters and getting pawned..
2. ruining UW team by accepting wrong quests (com'on it's not that i'm the only ppl here done this b4)
By far the worst feeling as a healer... it's getting rez'ed by a warrior ... just doesn't seem right =(
Thanks, OP.. i like this thread!!
Just remembered another one... running around in a town half-naked after trashing pant after salvaging a worthless rune

Well I started in Pre and leveled my Ranger to 17 IN PRE!!!!! IT TOOK three Months!!!!! Then moved him over to post.... and I was soo Noobish that I needed Help on the first few missions....at level 17...level 20 peeps would say You need help!!! Then I told them I just moved over form Pre they then told me I should have kept My char over there as a perma Pre cause it is soo hard to level up in pre..... I wasted three months of my life leveling up in pre to move him to post ..... Now I can get to level 20 in about 2 hours after creation.... and now I have 5 accounts and like 43 chars... But I still love Pre it was my home for so long....

1.when i started playing gw factions... I wanted to do some quests but it seemed so hard kill all the foes by myself. So i tried to add some players to my party by clicking on everyone around.
Finaly, someone joined!!! Weee. I was so happy and excited. My first team m8. So I started to chat a little,"how are you?Wanna quest together" ect. 10 mins later - he didnt answer. "Okey well...fine. If u dont want to talk... Lets go!" Outside, I realized it was a henchman npc >.>
2. My awesome super deluxe uber cool Warrior with sword and offhand. "FFS why dont u have a
shield?!" "Oh cmon please, I dont need a shield, I need ENERGY!"

Luminarus
Remaking my 3 year old, r2 koabd warrior with customized r8 15>50 weapons etc, because he had a terrible name, a month before they announced the name change update.

about 62 months ago when I just bought GW I deleted toons about 15 times when I was in Yaks bend because I was not statisfied with the second prof. Untill after 1,5 month or something someone said that I could change the second prof later in the game.

Levelling up in pre-searing by killing monsders, wondering why it was taking me so long to get somewhere and then realising that I hadn't done any quests.
Most costly was buying a perfect vamp string (old days before greens, etc) at a good price, adding it to my perfect gold bow and hoping to make lots of money. Only later did I realise that the bow had no damage bonus.....

It took me a while to understand how to start prophecies missions
Einherj3r
When I found out Anet is just milking the PvE scrubs after they released Nightfall. It's embarrassing because I already bought Nightfall.
Mintha Syl
Me too! When I first reached the northern wall I don't know how much time I spent looking around and talking to every single npc to find out what to do. Then I gave up and moved to make the secondary quests. Only after that I returned and found the "enter" xD So I think I did almost every single Ascalon quest+exploration before doing the first mission
Neky
I finished NF with 2 chars and then i bought the complete collection, went to Factions and spent 2 hours trying to start the Vizunah Square mission...damn those buttons are small.

Also, I once superior salvaged an IDS when I meant to do a perfect on it, and yeahhhh...
Voodoo Rage
I'm laughing at all the failed skill hunter attempts. I can so relate to those (but the Feast of Corruption one is just painful).
When I first started with a ranger, I was so desperate to get an elite. I saved up all my money in the Ascalon Area to finally buy an elite ranger tome not really understanding that you needed to unlock the skill first (embarrassing to myself but at least it was a re-sellable item).
I used to be one of those douche-bags who like to show off my wealth by dropping stuff on the ground and then picking it up again. I was getting a run to Droks and just as I dropped a Mini Destroyer, a mob of giants knocked me down. Some guy in the party managed to pick it up and then promptly log off. I felt like such a tool, I logged off too out of embarrassment (poor runner lost two customers). I also lost the name of the guy who picked the thing up so I couldn't even send him a dirty message. Needless to say, he get a mini-Destroyer (dedicated at least).

First time using Shield Bash so many years ago, wondering why nothing happened, until I realised I did not have a shield equipped.

lol I have read it all and had a good laugh. Now some from me:
It took me 1 year to find out how to make screens so I have none from that time
It also took me 1 year to get my first elite skill (Searing Flamez), another quite embarrassing fact is that I use the pretty much same build I used back then till today (3 years lol).
I used the reward shield you get from some ascalon quest for nearly 1 year before I realised that it is not good (someone explained that to me actually, would never realise myself lol).
Another time our 8-player party got defeated by a Norn bounty giver in Normal Mode, 4 were AFK but still a funny fail lol.
Completing Prophecies took me more than a year, even though I skipped all of Maguuma Jungle and has bought runs to several places.
I wore Shing Jea Armor for 2 years.
I terribly failed at Mad King Says.
I used Peace and Harmony back when it was totally useless.
I played Mending War in RA.
I also used Frenzy as a cancel stance for Primal Rage. Joking on this one
I have created a Warrior/Mo build that used Warrior's Endurance for Energy management and was full healer.
I have also created another build which is based on letting your teammates die and healing your enemies.
Back in the 600hp days, I usually forgot to change armor.
I fail so badly at HA that I STILL HAVE double Zaishen Quests active for it without a single win.
Hope you enjoyed some, theres more but I dare not say it

When I was first starting HA and got to halls, was getting pissed off that channeling and HB kept getting stripped and it took me a while to realize I kept running into well of the profane, luckily nobody noticed afaik...
Crystal Lake
When I was a noob monk in pre-sear I discovered the charr behind the wall. I would team up and try to heal my teammate by clicking on the name under his toon, instead of the red party bar. I thought this was how you healed. I can't tell you just how hard it was to heal by using my mouse to follow a warrior who was always darting back and forth, and me trying to hit the right spot to give them heals

After using Expert Salvage Kit lots of times getting stuff of of Hero armor, i used Expert Salvage Kit on an armor piece of my own out of habit. It broke ofcourse.
On occasion in the American district players will use their native language instead of english.
One time, someone was selling an item with a german name. I send a PM asking to translate it from german into english.
Later i discovered it was a green item with a german name.

Me and a guildie vanquishing an explorable area somewhere in Maguuma Jungle I think. I had 3 heroes guildie had one hero. We did well 'till around 75% and we started dying, again and again. Then I realized why: my heroes were all set on avoid combat (necro helear did a great job, but never used Xinrae's Weapon; ss necro never casted a hex; and MM necro did a great job making minions, but never used putrid bile or other hexes).

2. some guy agreed to pay me 60k for an item but put 60g in the trade window. i was too hasty to hit accept. never again! ;(
3. getting owned 4v3 in RA or any 4v4 arena is always disgraceful

Bloody IDIOT i am.
Just now.
Needed to take 2 mods of a sword and not break it.
Smartly i used a Perfect Salvage Kit for the first mod, BUT in haste used an Expert Kit for the second mod.
And OFCOURSE the sword broke....grrr.
Hmm, it was an r9 gold Elonian Gladius, worth 10-15k
Guess i need to buy a new one, oh well.....10-15k is survivable.

They were when i bought one say half a year ago.
But i am talking about the NF one that looks like a Roman Gladius, so NOT the sword that is called Gladius with the Short Sword skin.
And then only a gold inscr r9.

Well stupid me...i thought i remembered seeing that torm items couldnt be destroyed by salvage kits so i used a normal one to take a mod off my torm staff and it broke, i was mad and confused at the same time Q_Q then i looked back and saw that torm items arent salvagable, but still breakable xD
