East Coast USA running on wireless Verizon FiOS, and haven't seen any real issues of yet. I'm getting between 40 and 600 ms ping depending on the time of day, avg is around 200 ms.
My only worry is that I'll have to get my college to add the 64's IP address range to the campus packet shaper, and I don't know whether the lag issues people are complaining of on this thread will be present afterward.
They Moved the Server and it's Horrible

My ping is still in the 200-300s but I d/ced randomly while doing today's HM Wanted. First attempt at reconnecting failed, second one took about 10 seconds but I got back into the game at the end.

however bad it is now it'll only be +1 to what it was before.

guildwars is unplayable, last ping 149,266, average 16,262 southern england |
That's bad, anything over 200 and 1/4 second spells start becoming non 1/4 second spells and your ability to interupt 3/4 second spells severely diminishes.

It appears that the servers are back in Austin, Tx (at least that's what traceroutes to their IP addresses suggest, but I could be wrong). Some years ago I seem to remember them being here as well. Since I'm in Austin, my hop count has gone down by quite a bit (it's around 8 now, was around double that from what I can remember). Too bad my packets still have to go to Dallas before returning to Austin (that's an AT&T routing issue, though, and not under Anet's control).

I just got back from an extended vacation (my PC fried and I had to get a new one). Reinstalled the full game today (non-streaming) and my ping is astronomical. The rubber banding is making the game become completely unplayable and I've actually disconnected once.
Hopefully they figure out what the deal is.
I'm from America, usually have a green dot, but today its been orange+.
Edit: Make that two disconnects. Disconnected a second time while I was writing this.

Exactly the same thing a friend of mine and myself are experiencing, guess we know now that we got "hosed". We will be creating a website to inform people what they will do to you after you spend money on GW2.
I'll post some photos of the proof, I have always had a ping below 100 with an occasional spike to 250 but I am getting 2-3k constant now with spikes of 34k+. All info will be included on the website when we get it up and running. We have before and after photos of the server pings before and after this "move". We went through this before with another game company and we need to give them 7 days to respond to the problem. (We got legal advice last time due to threats) Their legal department will send us a letter that we can't post the screenshots on our website due to copyright infringement, at that time we will refuse to take them down and then they will contact the company that hosts the website and threaten them as well, once that happens we will be forced to remove the screenshots but we will keep them as proof of our claims. But the word will get out to the public, through our website as well as the youtube community. We are still collecting screenshots from others in the game in preparation. Outside of that there is nothing we can do about it, we got "hosed" and have to live with it. Our organization believes we have a responsibility to inform the public of dirty corporate greed, and that is what we intend to do. Good luck all, sorry this happened to so many of us, we can only move forward. |
I'm sure you and others are having trouble with your ping, but it seems like just so much histrionics to come out threatening to blow the whole thing open with a website dedicated to this. First, nobody but those already plugged into GW cares. Second, those already plugged into GW will form their own opinions without your help. Third, it's hard to take your issue seriously when you overreact in such a spectacular manner.
I hope you and everyone else having trouble gets your connectivity issues sorted out, but really, cool your jets and get your hubris under control. You're actually not as important as you seem to think you are.
Good luck.
