Raiment of the Lich costume fix = quality reduced
Mireles
I logged on today for the update, and found my costume looking like my video settings were reduced and discovered there was a bug fix for it. It seems like to quick fix a reported problem they just removed the sheen and movement layer from the wings... And also is that the wings were cut very badly causing some dye-able space around the wings at-least for my class....
Please fix the costume right arena net...we did pay for these...
Below shows the dye -able areas on the outside of the wings that were not their before the update... black and then white (Red Boxes)
Below is a Before (right) and After (Left) update... you can tell they removed the layer that added movement to the feathers along with the feathers themselves (Blue Boxes) and just stuck a few semi-transparent feathers to try to replace em... Also removed the ambient texture that reacted to angles of light making them look like feathers... instead of just a pressed shell...
If this is the quality of "fixes" I can expect after I buy a costume... I definitely wont be buying anymore in the future...
I didn't even know about the white lines you tried to fix with this update.... I could be wrong but I don't think anyone knew that there was something wrong with this costume.
Please revert to the costume before the fix... The quality I was so happy to have paid for.
Edit: A friend informed me that the male Mesmer best resembles the texture and movement with the exception with some clipping around the edges of the wings... Test it move around in it...the lower feathers will sway and reflect light on Mesmer... compare it to another male class... the wings go stale.. all classes should have the same quality.

What? They look exactly the same to me. o_O And the spots don't look "fixed". You're wearing a white costume in the picture with the white spots on the wings and a black costume in the picture where the spots seem to have disappeared (they're black..like the costume dye). Looks the same to me.
psycore
they should fix the hole in the female necro's leg >_>

So, do you have an image of the white costume that shows that the new dye-able spots weren't there before the fix to post or send to ANet? Because your screenshots aren't really showing anything. I mean, I personally can't see any sort of decrease in quality and since one of your examples has a costume that's dyed black...it's not really showing, either.

As you can see they were not there before and over all the wings just looks less full, maybe even shorter, and don't react at all to surrounding light like they used too.... like they just removed a layer instead of fixing it.

Weird, since they did do an update to fix it. Looks like they just made more problems. Hopefully someone will see this thread that can report back to ANet, or maybe you can send it in to them so that they know it's there?
Anyway, good catch. :/ Hope they fix it sometime.

I reported my problem to support @ plaync.... I also included a link to this thread... may want to post pictures of the hole on the leg or other quality issues.

Yeah, it looks really bad on my ranger now. I'd have much rathered deal with the little white lines than this. I hope they change it because yeah...we payed for them and they look bad now...

I'm not seeing any of these errors on my end. Not denying they're happening, just... on my end I don't see them.
From what I can tell the issues people are reporting are:
* Hole in necro female's leg
* White patches on the at the side on the top part of the wings
* Reduced feathering on the edges of the top of the wings
* Reduced feathering on the bottom feathering on the bottom of the wings
Here's what I see:
No hole, no white patches, feathers are still there.
I wonder if it's graphics settings within the game or graphics card issues that's causing the differences? Which would explain if they were QA'd on super fancy superduper machines that they're not going to be able to see these errors on other machines that us common folk have. I have no idea really, just throwing things out there.
I will point out though that i am so glad they got rid of the GIANT METAL WIRING INSIDE THE WING WITH THIS FIX. I CAN FINALLY WEAR THIS COSTUME AGAIN OMG YAY /capslock. ahem.
In case people forgot what the giant metal wire looked like, you can see it plain as day on the char on the far right here (Linked it because it's hyoooge)
Edit: Could be a male character problem? We need more pics off people! Post post post 'em!

you could use -image and report back if that helped.

Maybe while they work on fixing those problems, they could also work on making all of the costumes released so far actually fit all of the male models, too?
.....Yeah, probably not. But hopefully, they'll at least fix these problems. :/

Mine looks fine. Better than it did, in fact, and there's no hole in her leg, either.
Maybe it has to do with graphics settings on individual computers? I kind of wonder if the costumes are one of the those things in GW that just won't look pretty if you're not running at maximum specifications.

looks like nothing has changed, also if you compare 2 screenshots make them in the same area, cus now it seems like they're not the same cus you are in a light and in a dark area!

Here's what I noticed, mind that I mean ONLY FEMALE characters:
- white lines on wings disappeared
- chunk of missing texture on necro is corrected
- missing feathers on elementalist's version of the costume are corrected
- costumes dye now in deeper hue
- ...probably due to the missing "glossy" layer
- the frontal tattered cloth is now not transparent
- ...except on monks and ritualists
- back tattered cloth and feathers are more transparent than before
- black writings on handwraps seem to be now "cut out", looks pixelated and kinda ugly
- mesmer's version of the costume still dyes in the same way as it was before the fix. Actually it seems to be pretty much the same except for some weird pixels on wings and the gold ornament on mesmer's back that is half covered by the cloth
Here's mes, ritu and warrior screen to compare:
Also on all post-fixed costumes there are two red spots that are not affected by dyes, mentioning that as it wasn't present on pre-fixed costume ;p

I logged on and took a look at my costume. I noticed something, and maybe it's just that I didn't notice it before (or I'm looking for it now)...
But do the wings seem...flat? If that's what the OP is talking about, then yes I definitely see the problem.

I used to work in computer graphic design so i know what I'm looking for and appreciate in great detail how great graphics are made. Most people probably are not going to notice the difference besides the new dye-able areas on top of the larger male classes, i have noticed my issue on both dervish and warriors. They did remove a texture layer that made the wings look real and not painted on a shell, and they also removed feathers on the wings that gave the wings movement and replaced them with semi-transparent wings... you can tell which ones they replaced they just do not look the same and are completely translucent as apposed to a solid center gradient-ed to transparent edges.
Like i said minor details you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking for them before the update...But the small details can add up..... it just seems like a lazy fix because someone worked hard to make that layer... it just wasn't perfect... then fix it don't delete it...

I prefer the sheer cloth that we still have on the front of the female monk and ritualist, but it is causing their lower abdomen (see screenshot) to be transparent. It may be hard to tell from the screenshot, but I can see the ground and everything else through that area when she breathes or I move the camera. Camera distance doesn't make a difference.
I could probably learn to live with the flat color we have on the other professions if I had purchased this with in-game money, but I had to use my credit card. Can we please get the sheer cloth back for the other professions and have the ghost tummy fixed?
Other than that, I can't complain too much. The wings look okay for me and I found 3 birthday presents while checking to see what the costume looked like on all my characters.
Edit: Just checked a male warrior and I'm not seeing any problems with the wings.

What kinda video card you use?

Just thought id do a side by side comparison now that i know of a in game example people can go compare Male Mesmer to other classes themselves.
Mesmer = Left, Warrior = Right
As you can see especially on the back view on top of the wings that there is a lower resolution on the warriors as well as all other male classes... if you want to see the movement and sheen i been talking about.. compare your class to male Mesmer wings when he moves around...best seen while your back is to a light source.

Well, yeah. lol. Just figured I'd post mine as well, since it was different.

I just saw a guy in Kamadan usa3 with an evil grin on his Cowl of the Lich. I swear to God, I saw this white line, and I'm thinking: whats with that guy's Cowl? I look, and I see this on his cowl:
No joke, I'm dead serious. He zoned before i could make a screenie
And I dont have texmod installed or anything.

No fix as of yet, maybe they will work on it now that they have these new ones done, good costumes but i refuse to buy em until they fix this.
Willow O Whisper
Seams like the new wedding gown is suffering from the same issues... Looked great yesterday but today it's completely pixelated... -_-'
Mireles
Yeah i been hearing the same thing from friends that had purchased them, I guess this is the quality we can expect from future guild wars costumes.. just seems like a sleazy way to make a quick buck... make good looking costumes with a few minor flaws to get people to buy them... then when everyone notices a few minor flaws.. lower the quality and call it fixed...good for short term gains but you can bet people will stop buying new costumes. The Halloween 2010 costumes are the first and last costumes i will ever buy.
Dewshine Wildclaw
Only noticed just now with the wings OO
and now that I notice it I don't like the wings anymore at all, they ruined my wings QQ
I am planning to but wedding pack... can it really be that the quality is not acceptable?
This saddens me... my trust to anet just got a hit... not broken... yet...
Why would they ruin my wings? Whyyyy?

@up. Quality is... well, acceptable. I don't have a screenshot before the update, so I didn't noticed any difference after I've been told there is some. I was also wondering if people aren't mistaking the dress embroidery for "low quality" pixels.
You might want to note that female elementalist Formal Attire lack of jewlery on her hand and she misses a piece of her back.
Female ele. Again.

They still haven't fixed this?
I don't want low resolution armour/costumes, which is why I don't buy any armour from Prophecies or Factions (or EoTN).
Why did Nightfall get all of the high-res stuff?
Oh, I bought the Halloween costumes because they looked awesome. I want what I paid for back to the quality it should have been.

People are talking about the wedding dress quality being lowered not the bridal dress.... but i see what your saying comparing screenies on wiki
