Have you ever picked a prof because you like the armor?
mappam
And other "odd" things you have done while playing this game?
I love the Ele - but hate the armor - so I created a Ranger (I love that armor) with Ele as 2nd profession Not exactly the same but she does have a pet AND fire LOL
Your turn - why did you pick your profession combo OR starting area OR any other choice that may not be the "norm"?

Does picking a sin because he's hot count?
And honestly I made a Paragon because I was forced into buying a set of fow for the HoM and male para fow is one of the few I actually like. And I think I never bothered lvling my para think he's like lvl 19 still.

Well, I created Paragon, maxed her level, bought her nice elite armor, just because she looks hot.
And I don't play with her at all.
She's there just to look hot in main menu.

Too bad we can't pick 1st AND 2nd profession armor - that would sure solve a lot of my problems LOL
What combo do you like best - if you don't play the one you like the LOOKS of best??

Made I derv b/c I liked the robed/hooded look.
Sucked at the start b/c I couldn't play them right though. Learned to play them and now I love the prof. Although it is lacking in some places.

Well, i've created a ritualist cause i like the armors, but only after the large buff gives me a reason to do it. Still, after crafted for her a monument armor, i don't use it so much.
Dzjudz
I needed Vabbian, so I made a female para
jazilla
no, but i did know exactly what armor I wanted when my character got to the place to buy it.
AngelWJedi
i made my main a derv because i think the female are cute and they have wicked smexy armor. its pretty much half of the reasons why i only play female chars. xD
shoyon456
I wouldn't say the reason Derv became my main was the armor, but the fact that it was unique definitely helped me make the choice. I made the Derv my main because even before NF came out, the lore behind them of a "scythe wielding holy warrior that wears a hood in humility to the gods" sounded really enticing.
I guess you could say the hooded robe look helped me decide.

I have not played a prof because of armor..........
it wasn't till we got the Shining Blade jacket that I was able to actually make a Necro and not delete it because I could not stand looking at her.
My mes is my useless dress up char, I love the armors but am totally clueless at playing one.. so yes.. she was made just for the clothes.

Hmm, I don't think I ever did that, but yesterday I got my female ssin Vabby cause I think she deserved it after all the armbraces she's farmed me so far, and then when I dyed it white and put it on, I realised I HATED it, it was SO ugly that I immediatly salvaged it and ended up with 5 rubies in return xD
My only male character is my necro and my storage charr, but he doesn't count, but necro because the necro dance emote is so badass, and as a diehard metalhead myself, I just had to have that^^
Better question is, did you ever pick a gender for a prof for the armor? Because I can imagine someone wanna play a male mesmer, but by GOD their armor is HORRIBLE! All of them! It's as if they let a blind guy with down syndrome make it, just to make him feel important.
This is how a mesmer should look like

not really, since most of the armors I have for my characters that they currently use came out long after they were made (eg eye armors for 5 year old characters).....though I did make a new necro (before anet made it so we could change hair and face--since we were told that would never happen) so I could match vabbian to her. (and now since the makeovers she never gets played since my original necro was changed!)
Tommy's
I made a Necro just to get Asuran Armor. After she got it, I've played her for like 3 more hours and now she is just another storage character. Same goes for my Mesmer because I wanted that elite enchanters + fow boots dyed white. Another storage character

Interesting! I am SOO glad I am not the only one that creates a character then either doesn't play it or loves it because of the LOOKS!
I am really surprised there arn't more replies from Guys that created a Female Character just so they have something - ahh - hmmm - interesting(?) to look at ROFL.
I JUST got Nightfall so I can now create 2 new characters - hmmm will have to go look at the armor for the Dervish and Paragon......

My genuine view on armor would be its a shame monks can't have helmets..the only proffesion i dont really play is warrior so its a bit of a contrast.
People hate it but love the spikes on assasin armor but overall the best looking would be my mesmer

Well i made a female necro last night for the pure purpose of getting her vabbi armor(curse you 10k gems =.=)
so that means getting to KC... going that far into NF only for vabbi and maybe use the char for things like MoP in fow or something :P

As Lord Dagon said. I made a female necro for vabbi legs and ancient body/hands/feet. Then I made a sin for the ancient set also. A rit for regular kurz. So.. yeah I picked them for armors ^^;
bsoltan
It is the reason I have so many characters.

I created a Dervish when NF came out, played her to the NF mainland, and decided it wasnt for me, I hated melee, she seemed far to squishy, and I REALLY hated her armor, and despite browsing wiki for inspiration, couldnt find any "look" I wanted to get her to. Shes been storage ever since.
Skip forward many years to present day and Anet release the "Lich" costume (The one with wings along with its undead face, not the hooded one), bamm she ends up wearing these dyed purple and all of a sudden she made me go wow, ive got a evil succubus, with a scythe! So I start playing her again.... and several weeks later shes finished every campaign, nearly maxed a few ranks, and has several titles to her name... and is now the character I choose when guildies want a dungeon... much to their shock!
Anyways in a month ive gone from not caring about the pending dervish update, to checking every day to see if theres any news on it! Not quite an armor story, or even new character, but its as close as im going to get!

Well, we all know that our favorite creepy little girl definitely did: "When I grow up, I'm going to be a hero like my daddy. I'd like to be a warrior, but the mesmers' outfits are nicer, don't you think?"
Guess which profession she ended up with. Gogo superficiality.
Well, my main character is a ranger (she's the first char I ever made, too. ), but I only like a few of the female ranger armors. I honestly wish more of the female armors had long coats like the guys get (there are a few with medium-length coats, but none like the guys').
I did make a mesmer, just because I think that they have the nicest armors in game (female, of course).
...I was going to link to a healbot blues where she refers to the mesmer armors as "nighties", but it appears that crithitcomics is gone...

I created one female mesmer and one male mesmer because I liked the pictures of their armor, but they're an interesting challenge to play because obviously the mesmer abilities are subtle, a kind of jujitsu. My first character (which I still use, along with the other seven) was a Prophecies elementalist but I haven't found any ele armor that looks good to me, so over his Prophecies armor he wears the Shining Blade outfit, dyed red.
For Nightfall I created a female necro and I still like her face (kind of an Angelina Jolie with white hair) but again I don't like the Istani or Sunspear necro armor, so she wears the Shining Blade outfit also.

Yep! I made a female warrior because Elite Kurzick armor looks awesome. The males have way broad shoulders and they don't look right.
-Makai-
When EOTN came out, I switched my main to Ritualist because of Norn armor.
Conversely, my poor Assassin didn't see any real play time until the Balthazar costume.

My mesmer has elite enchanter (male, not a slutty female), since i love the suit.
and his name is "Just For The Armor" ^^
think that beats it

Well, I DIDN'T make a Necro until my last character because I didn't like the armors. Does that count?
Mig Coconut
I made a warrior due to female Elite Kurzick armor. Seeing a very elegant mesmer in gvg sporting female asuran armor drove me to making a mesmer.
On a related note, I made a fugly male monk for 55 farming (waaaaay back in the day) because I thought it would be funny to see him in multicolor tattoo armor and I didn't imagine using him for anything else. It is, alas, a decision I regret to this day.
Most of my characters were made because I needed that profession for some current meta build. Their sex was predominately chosen for armor.

I made a sin back in the day to get ancient armour, i loved looking like a big cactus!
Jumping Is Uselss
Back in 05 I saw a warrior in ascalon with elite platemail in black. I thought it was the spiffiest thing I ever saw. My noobish heart was devastated when I learned my ranger could not use warrior armor. I deleted my ranger and rolled a warrior later that day.
Now im running around with a mesmer because they look like teh sex!

I made an Ele cause of the wide variety of armor and it's epic hotness.
In fact, for my last character slot, I chose Ele over Ritualist for this sole reason.

Armor designs are a big part of why my first character was a Ranger. My Mesmer is pretty much my dress-up doll, and I made a Monk simply because I wanted Labyrinthine armor. Part of the reason my Dervish became my main was because I loved the armor designs for the profession.
So, yeah, that's definitely been something of a influence

I would say the only profession to play because of armor is (female) mesmer. The best FoW set other than Paragon, most variety, and extremely detailed textures (Elite Rogue, Asuran, Noble, Norn, Monument). They're also the only class that looks right with pink chaos gloves. If you want a nice practical armor set on a female necro the best you have is the bland Elite Cultist,Fanatic, or Monument sets. Closest thing to practical on female ele is FoW, which doesn't dye well, and norn which is weird if you're out in the desert. Rangers have huge undyeable areas.
I was going to play a monk in beta but chose ele because monk armor and hair is terrible (prophecies). (Compare Ele Elite Flameforged dyed to anything monk.) Eles were mid-liners that didn't get screamed at when people died and my 300 ping back then was not conducive to mesmer (and definitely not ranger). It also helped that Ether Prodigy Heal Party/Infuse Health and Draw/Aegis chaining was pretty much monking without the stress. When E/Mo Smite came around (original 2005 Ether Renewal) that's pretty much what I played, with Ether Prodigy in GvG.
I had a PvP-only monk for the longest time since I used to GvG before factions. It didn't see much play because of my high ping at the time. Even when I made a PvE monk, I kept it with basic armor because none of the elites were enticing enough. It wasn't until Factions that monk had decent options.
Now I have ~100-150ping so it's doable to monk +mesmer-ize.
edit: If paragons weren't so darn boring to play then dropping 1kk on Paragon FoW, which is pretty nice, wouldn't be so bad.

Not quite, but by the time I created my last ~6 characters I pretty much had all their elite armor sets planned out.
It was before the HoM reward calculator and for whatever reason I thought it would be meaningful to have one of each of the 20 armors dedicated. Kind of turned out to be a waste of time and resources.
Could have used that money to get my second acct to 30/50 faster=(

Originally when I started the game I was a wammo because it made me feel like it resembled paladins. Holy warriors of righteousness. In fact, it kinda worked too, considering how it was like in the first year of the game before the additional classes and skills that we have today.

-I love playing necro but I do not care for the looks, or the armor choices, so I do not have a necro.

GW has basically evolved [or devolved depending on your perspective] into a dress up game for me. I usually mess around with armor and weapon combos when I log on. I think I might have every single piece of armor that's available for my 3 main chars, regardless of how ugly they are.
I would really like to have a female necro and mesmer to mess around with, armor and weapon wise, but I just can't get myself to actually "play" the game anymore.

I started playing mesmer a few years ago because a) their description in the manuscripts/wiki is misleading; and b) female mesmers look the best and have the best armors out there.
Ascended Furling
I made most of my chars when i wanted a armor set. I got from every prof a male and female so the list wil be to long for me to tell what armor i got for every char.
When there was no paypal for the ncsoft store i deleted a lot of chars just to made a male or female version. now i remade old chars that i deleted before.
