q9 crysta 250-300e imo

no ways ive seen people buying for around 400e.. sword = 350-400e

I'd rather see actual numbers posted in here, rather than speculations.
"Oh, I saw some guy spamming in Kamadan, wanting to buy it for 500e"
"Oh, I saw this item being spammed on Argos for 300e"
It doesn't mean people are buying/selling at this price. I think it's more logical to report what it is ACTUALLY sold for, as in "I had an r9 healing frog and I sold it for 250e". It's up to us to decide who is being truthful and who might be exaggerating but at least it's input.
Also, if Ange doesn't start maintaining this, I'm going to motion for sticky and take over.

all right but its not "some guy" ive seen a high demand for it and it must obviously be outweighing the supply and therefore people are more than willing to pay 350-400e

I've updated a lot of values and added a few to fill in the blanks. If it's horribly wrong, blame the guy above me.
Just a note to say, if you guys have suggestions of prices, just let me know. An offering of a price you sold or bought for goes a lot further than a complaint about none.

In my opinion, some stuff from the guide should be removed completely.
The price ranges for the Cobalt and Chrysocola staves, and the Topaz Scepters are...ridiculous. I didn't look too closely at the guide, but those two entries really stand out as being off.
I think that threads like this aren't *nearly* as helpful as they might initially appear to be. Unless there's a high amount of participation from active traders, it's really just the opinion of one person, which may or may not be accurate.
What I would recommend is that entries be left blank until a price range is established by at least three independent reports (similar to the way Luny did the Greens guide). Individual opinions shouldn't be presented as facts in a PC guide. If you're going to run it that way, people would be better off just posting a normal PC.
So a starting point that might be completely wrong is a good thing? As I said, a PC guide should be based on reported facts. A guide with outdated (or just plain wrong) information is worse than no guide at all. It just wastes everyone's time.

The "old prices" were prices that had been there for months, and had helped people pc these rare skins in the absence of "normal" price checks. Have you ever asked for a pc of any of the above items on the price check thread? You almost never get a response. And that is fine if we have a comprehensive list like what Ange had generously created for the forum. Yes, some things maybe were off here and there, but I know at least for me personally, it really helped give me a ballpark figure to work from. So yes, I agree with the above poster that you quoted (whose post somehow was deleted?) that outdated prices are better than no prices at all.
The thread was originally dated May 2011, so its not like the prices were from that far in the past (yes, prices have changed, but not to the point of making it obsolete). After Ange posted the prices, many people confirmed that they felt it was quite accurate and made corrections where needed, so to say this information should now be excluded completely and left blank seems strange.
I appreciate Shadowfell taking on the task of updating it, I think that's awesome, but in the absence of most all of the requirements on the list (besides q9s), its nice to have SOMETHING.

The Protection Bone Dragon Staves are a bit overpriced. Last I saw (few months ago), q9 was going for around 250e. I doubt the price would go up.
Also, I think there is a typo for q10 earth frog scepter.

Sold Celestial Compass, inscr, q12 divine favor for 25k [24.07.11].
Keep in mind that those sticky threads not only give a price check, they also quite literally create prices. Say someone gets a xyz BDS, the first time in his life, and wants to sell it, cause it's fugly. The first thing he does is check its price, and most people choose Guru for that. He may either take a look at a sticky thread or start one of his own, but the price he sees is about the price he wants for his BDS. And it doesn't matter if it's the 'real' value or not, he saw so on Guru, so it must be right.
The other side of the bargain will be obliged to take a look at Guru pricings if they don't believe the seller, and sooner or later, the new prices, based on Guru PC sticky thread, will come into life.
So in short, it does not only serve as a rough price check, it's also price regulation after some time.

Protection & Heal bds has most certainly gone up, much to my chagrin. I bought an r9 healing BDS easily, one of a few, a couple of months ago for 90e and now it's customary to see people asking and paying 120-150e for them. While it sucks for those of us who enjoyed the cheaper prices, it's because players are willing to pay the new higher ones that it continues.
On other matters;
I am volunteering to do this, as a trader and a long-time player of the game and because it needed to be done. I do this on my own free time and this will be the only post of the sort below, that I will make on it because this needs to be said.
I do not manufacture prices. I didn't just pull numbers out of my backside and slap them up. Numbers that I didn't have were taken from Ange's old guide which I did have a backup of before it was removed. The prices have since been adjusted as I combed not just sales reported here, but sales and auctions on three different forums and in game. I've even researched on a popular third-party data-mining site to see if reported prices were plausible and in some cases, found them reasonable.
With that said, I just have this further to say to you because the header of the OP was apparently skipped right over for the post-count button. Read the Original post because what I just wrote, is all right there.
A price check guide is a ROUGH estimate of what the value of your item =should= be at the best market value for it and based on recent trades. These values are not drawn out of a hat. Guides like this are to prevent someone from trying to sell an item they may think is worthless, and being told it's worthless by someone who is trying to take advantage of them.
The prices in the guide and as long as they're properly maintained, are what people are -paying- for these items, not what myself, or anyone else thinks they should be paying.
I didn't like paying 225ecto for a domination frog that Ange's guide said should be 140e with other bidders willing to pay the same, or more, but hey, it happens and it's one of the reasons I wanted to make sure these prices were updated. It's so that other people with an r9 domination frog understood that the value of their frog was much higher than the 140e that they'd been told.
It's not fair to leave a guide in place that states that an item, any item, is only valued at 140e, if people are willing to pay 250e for it. It's too easy for traders to buy it from Clueless Charlie for 140e by citing an outdated value and then selling it to Desperate Diana for 250e who knows the value is outdated herself.
It's not just the frogs, it's the protection BDS and a lot of other things that were lower or higher than they should have been and were creating rifts between those who knew they were getting more for them and those who were selling for far less because they didn't know any better.
As for the complaints about the old values missing? Seriously? It took me 24 hours to fill in new values that were current to the market based on reports and what was seen. If the people complaining had maybe supplied some suggestions instead of griping, it would have been 23 hours.
The fact that one of you posted on the 15th, today, stating all of the values were missing shows me you didn't even look at the OP, which -was- completed on August 13th, the date of my last post. I am going to refrain from commenting any further on that just because I don't make it habit to make posts such as yours without first checking the original post to see if it's true.
Chrysocola staves and topaz scepters DO sell at good prices, cobalt as well. I'm sorry that there is record of that now so it's maybe harder for some people to buy them at 5k from the unaware and market them to those who are willing to pay 10 ecto for a cobalt staff in spawning. They will not be removed from the guide.
I fixed the error on q10 earth frog, adjust valued 25-28e. Sorry about that.
Also!
Bought r13 Estorage BDS 25e, sold for 35e.

Moreover, if you are going to criticize a pricing, why not instead offer one yourself--since, of course, you are all knowledgeable and fair-minded Price Checkers.
I for one am rather surprised that q9 Prot BDS are listed below 400-- the last four I've seen sold have been at least 400.
I have confirmation, furthermore, that an q9 Prot BDS + q9 Heal Frog scepter sold for 690e today. And before that, a q9 Prot BDS + q10 Healing BDS sold for 700 zkeys, just a week ago.
Look for yourself, also--Topaz Scepter q9 domination was very recently listed WTS at nearly 100e in high end, along with a lot of other "high end" inscr. stuff. Although 100e is certainly overpriced, I have seen many people in Kamadan WTB the very same skin for 40-50e, thus the listed price value for Topaz Scepters seems fair to me.
I would suggest, if you haven't been "in the loop" as far as these items go (someone earlier posted that after months of inactivity he was surprised to see BDS shoot up), then wait a while and try to reintegrate yourself into the mainstream market before offering pearls of wisdom.
At the end of the day, this thread was created to help people have an accurate understanding of what their items are worth. That being said, how about everyone try to give accurate PC's for these items, and if you find some to be inaccurate, bring it up, otherwise a disservice is done to the whole guru community.
Thanks all, have fun.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly has caused the heal and prot bds to go up in price? Aren't they still being over-farmed? A friend of mine bought a q9 prot last year for 250e easily.

I am well aware that those prices are based on long-term observations, i'm sorry if i sounded any different - great job for putting it up together. Traders, as well as some more sane players with no merchandise experience, will benefit from it greatly.
But then again, a Clueless Charlie will take those prices as rock solid in a month or two. It will be the same as with minipets - he got something that's on the list, he checks the list, he might try to get a bit more than the price given, but won't certainly go any lower, even if the 'real' market value dropped in the meantime.
The same thing happened to minipets. Now the minipet sticky has been updated, but until that, lots of pets listed there were overpriced, some quite severely, and were nowhere near to Kamadan's observations. Most of traders and American district players were aware of that, but then again, loads of people from other districts set their prices according to an old PC - only because it was there, it did the pricing minis out for them, and it never mattered it was outdated.

This list has been updated though, so what is the problem? I don't quite understand where you're going with this. I don't have the intention of marking the current prices as being traded now and then letting it slide for 6 months.
The game isn't brand new and we're not gaining new players this late into the expansion (For the most part). With universities and schools picking back up as well, the player base is going to dwindle some and demand will go down. Prices in turn will have to go down if traders want to sell.
There will always be that guy who asks for too much, and there will always be that guy who just wants to get rid of it.

Caveat Emptor anyone?
This price guide is merely that and nothing more.
It is not some religious cannon, nor are the figures meant to be worshiped nor repeated parrot fashion to one and all game wide.
Anyone with common sense understands exactly what a price guide is, and presumably in this day and age most sensible people understand market volatility, those who don't well....
There will always be people trying to flog stuff well beyond what anyone with half a brain will pay, only today I saw some twat offering an EL Olias for 80e, I suspect he will be old and grey before he makes that sale.
This price list is a snap-shot of what the majority of people consider reasonable, I am sure it will be updated, and while some of us may at times question the odd price here and there, I am sure it will (as it seems to do now) be right on the money in most instances.
I applaud Angie for starting this, and am thankful it has been made a sticky, I have found it quite useful as a reference when considering certain weapons I might not normally buy or follow prices closely on.
On balance, a sticky such as this should have happened ages ago, and I for one am glad it is here now.
Oh, and might I add, the formatting is quite appealing, easy to peruse and clearly laid out.
Great job to all concerned.
EDIT
I put up a q10 Curses BDS in Kamadan without asking a price, I had a person try to low-ball for 40e, then the second person offered 70e straight up which I accepted.

I bought a q9 VS for 45e
