With the plethora of discouraging topics and hateful threads that are floating around out there nowadays, I just wanted to start a thread for those of us that really appreciate the dedication of the ANET staff and the Live team that have kept us playing this game for years now. Hopefully this can be a place where people post their thanks, fond memories of GW play, and the like.

I would like to ask that if you disagree with those of us who think ANET has done, and continues to do, something special with GW that you just leave this thread alone. I know I can't force the haters not to post up here, but please, there are TONS of threads started every day about what is wrong with this game.

The funny thing is that I think the people that get the angriest and have the worst things to say probably love GW the most. In fact I think many of us like the game so much that we have come to take it rather seriously. ( <----understatement) I have had my share of complaints in my time just like the rest. I think it just took me a while to realize that we complain because we care what happens to the game, and we care because we love GW.

I realize that this thread is going to be trolled, and I don't want it to become a debate over what GW has done right and wrong (there is another new thread concerning just that) But I still wanted to make it and I hope that others take a second to show their appreciation.

Thanks ANET, best game ever, can't wait for the WoC and GW2!

Just want to throw my thank you to Anet for providing me with my favorite game, even though I had my breaks from playing it was always here when I came back just as great as when I left. 6 years going strong.

Yes I do want to say thanks too. I have been playing since day 1. I have lots of fond memories and excitement when new content came out and reading update notes. When it comes to computer games I have a SHORT attention span but GW has kept mine for 6 years. I think they are doing well with coming out with new stuff, they could have just abandoned it. I have 3 brother-in-laws who are like brothers to me and since they live all over the country GW has allowed us to connect and have a Wednesday gaming session for such a long time. We hardly ever miss one.

So thanks Anet for making a quality product and also an affordable one!

While I've been very critical about guild wars (If nobody provided nagative criticism we'd all still be playing tetris ), I definately would like to thank you anet. Somehow you managed to take MMORPGs from mindless rat tail hunting into a seriously competitive, interesting, and constantly changing game. Really there's no other MMO that comes close to the complexity and fun of guild wars, so I'm just patiently waiting for when gw2 goes public beta.

Thank you for not only making the only MMO that's held my attention for longer than a week, but also making a game that's fun, easy to get into, complex to master (despite what people say about it being too easy - you play for 6 years, of course it'll seem easy to you), and just plain awesome. Good job, Anet <3

That's not funny at all. It's absolutely true in my case. I wouldn't complain or question anything negative about GW if I didn't "love" them.

It's the people who hate for the sake of hating. I hate because I have an opinion.

Yeah, I realized this about myself as well, I just thought it would be nice to put it in those kind of terms for once.

As much as I tend to express my dislike for the current state of the game, The expression of dislike is needed just as much, if not more than the expression of like. Often times it is not in as constructive a form of criticism as one would tend to like, but every opinion brings a new side to the table that is needed.

So, I will say that I am thankful that Anet at lease keeps a mindful eye on the negative opinions and takes it with better stride than I could, myself :P. As stated, many of us are angry because we like GW so much. It is true, many of us are not happy with the current state of things, but Anet takes the criticism better than some other companies.

Thanks for starting this thread Anet has done an absolutely fantastic job with the recent content as we wait for Guild Wars 2, it's amazing how they have kept the players occupied for so long (4 years in my case)

No matter how bored I get with the game at times, I am constantly drawn back to it every once in a while. Since they started introducing new content like the War in Kryta and Winds of Change, I find myself looking forward to playing once again.

I'm now anxious for WoC to get out and foaming at the mouth for GW2. I have actually sworn off all MMOs (cancelled my WoW account, and given up trying other MMOs) so I can take a break and start fresh for when GW2 comes out.

I know the standard answer to this but I'm gonna say it anyway:

Please ANET! Hurry up! I want to play GW2 now!

As Storm said, most of us complain (sometimes bitterly) to get something said and keep Anet on track. Although fat lot of good it does, it's better than doing nothing and letting the game go down a road we don't want it to. People whining about whiners often miss the point (Which by the way I am not saying is happening in this thread).

It makes me happy that threads such as this pop up every now and again =). It just goes to show that even after 6 years people still enjoy the product. It's been quite some time since I've played the game with any sort of regularity, but to this day I've appreciated the uniqueness of the product.

This is the best game ever due to the ArenaNet company. No matter what occurs, they always listen to the community. The changes they have made to the game over the years, just to make players happier, are unbelievable. It's been five years and three months for me and I still log in every day.

Perhaps I should have stated originally that I think it's a good thing to criticize almost anything, its how improvements happen. I think my point is more that there are plenty of threads like that (which is okay) and no threads like this one (which is not okay)

Lets continue to criticize ( I sure will), but not forget to show our gratitude from time to time!

Forgive me if I came off as being critical of the critical, for that was not my intent. I just wanted one thread to show support for ANET and this fantastic game! They deserve at least that much I think. Most games don't have this many caring fans 6 years later...

6 years of entertainment for minimal amount of money, the same money I could have easily spent in 2 days in our local amusement park. Certainly many people got bored by the game after so many years but considering how much entertainment you got out of it during the years you played, there's no room for complainment.

Sadly many complaints are really "thanks I had a great time, but after 5-6 years I'm bored, do something about it!". We just have to accept that all good things eventually comes to an end. But when one thing ends, another will start, and in 5-6 years from now the circle is complete when we discuss this in GW2 guru

Thanks anet, for giving me some of the best memories that I've ever had the pleasure to experience, the friendships that I've made throughout the years and a few that have lasted a lifetime, thanks for giving me the opportunity to spend countless hours/money on this game, even banning me, and having me pay another 75+ dollars to get my game back on. Thanks for the all fun, and continuous game updates, loving every second of this game, even 5 years later.

I was actually thinking today (while doing dunes HM) how much i would miss some of the music when GW2 comes out.
Almost six years playing and i haven't got bored. Getting my second GWAMM while i'm waiting
As much as i'm waiting for GW2, it'll be a sad day when those GW servers are taken down.
Thank you ANET

I think many people who complain, see the great potential of GW, but are concerned of ANets ignorance in this regard. GW offers so much, yet ANet does so little to turn it into gold. For some people the saying "Hate the creator, love the creation." is very relevant to GW and ANet based on years of experience.

However, I also see some people are very forgiving like Shoyon - sorry if I don't write your name correctly, which is a good foundation for the future of GW1 (and GW2).

getting bored with all the guys complaining about something has to change. and then when it happens they all QQ about it not being gud enough.

For some reason everyone here still plays the game, so they have to be grateful to Anet, Atleast that's what I would say.

I am sure not one is stupid enough to think that veterans of many years bemoaning aspects of the game implies they harbor deep seated ill will or negativity, none of us bother to invest one iota of time or energy in any endeavor we don't give a tinkers tuss about.

The fact of the matter is GW, in spite or whatever shortcomings it may posses, also happens to enshrine a great many things which grab our attention and keep us involved.

For some it is the story, or the combat or the charm, for other.... who knows? We all play for a myriad of reasons.

One thing I must state, is I admire the balls it takes to offer a game with no monthly fee, which for revenue raising has but a sparse set of "opt-in" purchasable items, and which nonetheless has managed to take it to the bigger players in the market and garner a large slice of the pie for itself.

Certainly it is good to see that even in its death throws, there are still updates, still small things on the horizon to keep us playing.

On balance, GW has been a raging success, I only hope that with all my reservations regarding aspects of GW2, that we can say as much: if in the final analysis GW2 surpasses our expectations and is a better game overall, we will all be very pleased indeed.

Props to all concerned over the years with creating, developing and supporting this game we all seem to invest far too much time in

I couldn't agree more.
Guildwars can never be 100% perfect. That would be boring. Even found a bug i have never had today, got over it and started something else. The games six years old and people still log in and still care and we will still care in years to come

This thread was necessary as a breather. A lot of "what ANet did recently to tick me off" threads lately.
With running the game with minimal interruptions and maintenances, 3 campaigns + 1 expansion, and unique events...it's pretty amazing.

We gripe about skill balancing, but for a game that's supported by 5 guys in a glorified closet in Bellevue (hope the lawyer up the street never finds out a profession of frog people are named after him); they are keeping it nice and fresh.

On a sappy story note, my dad had cancer until recently and couldn't go out much. GW was something that he, my mother, and I could still all go and do together.
Of course he's ready for a break LOL, but without a doubt the game helped distract them from their concerns for a few hours every day.

Thanks for making the best RPG to date (we expect big things in the sequel)

GW ftw.
Anet, good job keeping me busy (maybe a little too much :P ) for the past 5 years.

Considering how old this game is, it's great to see them still working on it
I never understood why people would complain about changes, but I guess they just have trouble adapting to new stuff.

Good thread ^^
