I am not content with how MKT's face is. Expect change.
Edit: Tell me what to improve! The face just looks bad, and I don't want that; its the focus. it needs to be good. What about the shading is wrong/bad? Theres something I cant see. Wont finish it tonight (

@ DBAA: I think the face looks good, you could just round it a bit more on the side of this head, remove a bit from the top and add a bit near his shoulder. What also may add a lot is adding some more colors to his mouth, a bit of white perhaps, to make it more shiny.
Also you could add a lot of this to the rock. It's a big moon, there should be moonlight coming from it, casting white light (and a double shadow) on the little man. If you are at a stage that is no longer possible, try adding some highlights to the little green mushrooms. It needs a bit more attention as the little fellow and the rock go easily unnoticed because of the size of MKT.

Alright, I'm gunna start the final hurrah for my painting after I finish eatting, and I'll do my best with the suggestions given. Im hoping that there will be some pause in the weather where its sunny for like 15 minutes so I can take my pictures outside! If not, what would be the best suggestion for indoor lighting? I would like to avoid as much distortion/unnatural colour as possible.
Also, unrelated, but Tzu put up her cosplay on her deviantart here, for those who don't have it. Amazing as always Tzu! Don't know if it was for the workshop, for the official contest, or just because you like cosplays. But its great.

Q_Q THIS THING WONT END. Still, STILL not done. ugh.
I have to do the clouds, and all the frills over again (those will be quick.hopefully). then do little highlights to brighten the piece. Then im done; all this has to be done before i go to work [luckily i have a spare at the end of the day; end school early to paint.
Tomorrow this has to be done, as I have to submit it tomorrow night. GAHH neverworked so much on a piece of art... ever. im some where between 35-40hours for sure.

it's with overlayed original sketch of the foreground so it's still somewhat teasing
It pretty much hasn't changed from my original sketch, only some minor things like the staff Zombie Horseman is wielding changed from Accursed Staff to this. Also Magi still needs some work to do and some bits in bg i'm not really happy with, and obviously i haven't even started working on that reaper and little frog. Oh and right now the resolution is 1600x1200 but i'm probably going to change it to something more widescreen-ish

Sorry for being MIA I've been using my free time to finish off my costume, since I hadn't finished it on Sunday for daylight shots D: Unfortunately, I *still* didn't finish the costume yesterday, and I figured yesterday night was my absolute last day to finish since my hubby can't help me take shots today We ended up taking pictures of what I *did* have, but the pics ended up blurry because they're night shots and sharpness filters in PS didn't seem to help any!
So, I'm kinda super bummed that I didn't really finish what I wanted to and the shots didn't come out like I'd hoped… I'm thinking if I make it the pics small enough (I'm making a collage), then hopefully the blur won't be too obvious even though details get lost. Here's an example:

Also, I'm trying to figure out what kind of background I should photoshop in (I actually cropped the example shot so you all wouldn't see our messy house XD). I was thinking 1) dark blue with some filtered textures or 2) screenshots from game background.
Anyway, I haven't updated my progress page, but I'll try to get that and the Razah story done by the end of the workshop

@Tzu: Your costume is AMAZING! I was seriously blown away when I saw it! I love that you can make craft foam look like real armor :O
@stouda: I love your painting style! The textured brush you use gives such an eerie feathery/wispy/cloudy effect that's just gorgeous
I can't wait to see the whole thing!@DBAA: I love your painting so far! You did a great job, and I'm even more impressed that you did it the traditional way where it's like you only get 1 shot to get it right :O Your traditional painting skills has really improved! Only advice I can think of is to improve the mouth/nose/eyes so it has more of a 3D effect instead of a cutout - kinda like when you see 3D block letters and you see the side of the letter. In this case, you should see the 3D edge like the yellow edge in Koreena's mask or a slight glow around the edges to show there's light coming out blocking out the edging. Irregardless, your pic looks great
@Arghore: That's such a fun pic! I like the idea of them all sitting at a campfire and the little details like are great

Nice so far! Few suggestions:
1) Split up your story into more paragraph breaks, especially for speaking. It makes it much, much easier to read online since your readers won't see a wall-of-text
2) There are also a few typos that are fairly easy to fix that I changed.
3) I substituted {a creature} for {it}, because at first, it seemed like you were referring to the house and not the mysterious creature. Substitute whatever word you want for {a creature} but not {it} :P

Shading the bottom of the skirt. Might spray on some more to make it more drastic while I wait.

Tomorrow I hope the get the prints from the screenhots I took to place in the windows.
The set is way too small for all the stuff I made and might rearrange later on.

Thistle@ Your dress looks great! I love that you made the buttons out of clay; I just had to do a very similar thing for my girlfriend's costume, and it was very tedious to follow the process of creating a mold, casting the clay, removing/cutting it, etc. But it looks really good.
Odinious@ I was almost wondering how you were going to fit all those neato sculptures into a single scene, but things came together wonderfully. I love the miniature statues in the background, they were a nice touch.
I'll post pictures tonight; I got my dry ice earlier and things should be ready to paint shortly. After that, it's just a matter of gluing things into place.

Well ... it's not as done as I'd like, there were supposed to be more things in the picture, like a proper themed background, a jack-o-lantern, and the terrified (and slightly mentally unstable) looking cat that I made out of pipe cleaners, etc.. but I simply don't have time to put it all in so it is as it is (slightly unfinished).
I don't know why but Cynn's hair decided to glow like mad in the pictures, so it looks a bit sloppy but I tried to "quick fix" it. Blah, that is the one thing I'm truly unsatisfied with.
Either way, already emailed it off to ANet, so *shrugs* it'll have to do! I don't expect to win any grand prizes, because the execution here is not so great as the idea.

Back from work! I finished the painting before work, and took my pictures while there was still daylight. Going to pick the best one, adjust the levels and whatever needs to be done.
I originally wanted the cloud over the moon, but I didnt want to risk ruining the moon so i shortened the cloud [you'll see once I am able to post. Ill post after I email it to anet ]

I officially submitted my entry to the contest just seconds ago I just wanted to give two super big hugs to Minami and Tzu for their help and advice (via PMs) with working with my pictures in Photoshop! I was so ready to give up, so I really, really appreciate both your help with making my pictures work
Now time to eat some yummy celebratory cake as a reward for actually submitting something XD

Damn i need more practice :P ... but non the less i am proud of my entry, first time i did a fully drawn one without any overlay techniques or any other thing, just free mousing and some examples... i like my end result ... obviously some things didn't quite turn out like i wanted them to, but then i better start on time :P

@Tzu: That was my goal! I can't draw very well (I have no eye for symmetry, perspective, or balance), I can't sew (ugh I patched a pair of jeans and my husband made fun of me because he does it so much better!), and all in all ... I'm not all that artistically minded unless it involves FOOD! I'm pretty accepting of the fact that I can't make things look super awesome fantastic unless it goes on a dish, and so I've learned to insert some humor to sort of overcome that. It worked the last time I entered the contest, so maybe it'll work this time around too.
@Everyone else: I am in constant awe of all of you wonderfully artistic people, I wish I could do even half of the things you do! I know it's not, but you make it look so effortless! I LOVE IT! The paintings, the costumes, the writing, the sculptures, the decorations, the digital art ... it's all fantastically awesome and you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves! While I might not post a lot (others usually beat me to it), I do creep the thread every day, and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see so many talented people being positive & constructive & working together to achieve their goal.
