Wintersday Workshop 2011!

@Olrun
I think one central Wreath to each design with little vines swirling about around it would be awesome.

Qing: DO THE JINGLE BELLS!
I wouldnt say thats too over the top; if anything it adds more to the festive theme
SOSOSOSOSO GUYS! My summative project is DONE! You know what that means?!
... I still have a bunch more assignments. Just less of them! If I can manage to start some sketchs tonight I will certainly share them.

@ SasUltra - wow! You're not a procrastinator at all! Well you inspired me to get on with it
@ Draken - amazing! I love using colored pencils. I bought these watercolor pencils to see what the different effect would be.
Anyway, so I began today and uploaded my progress: http://iceblueguildwars.deviantart.com/#/d4jjzst

Aight, will add jingle bells.
Here's a revised layout - I reangled Qing's chair and cropped the image a little.

Still debating over that shrine.

I also posted them to photobucket: http://s1191.photobucket.com/albums/...nter2011A1.jpg Feel free to post your images directly in the thread, too, using [spoil] and [img] tags
BTW, I currently have your dA link as your progress gallery, did you want the photobucket one instead?

Hi everyone hope you are all having a good week Ì`ve been busy. Everyone entry is looking lovely .
Olrun The Blade
@Qing Right now with the person in the chair has her legs turned away from the other person. I don't know if that is intentional or not, just pointing it out in case it was not. Other than that it looks pretty nice. I like the picture in the background since I think that without it there would be too much empty space.

New Piccys of my Yakkington coming soon! Im awaiting a snow to get some authentic outdoor shots! =D

I want to see more Jingle Kitteh!! =D
Seeing some really lovely work here, my only complaint about any is that I have to wait to see the final work! LOL
Some brilliant ideas, great artwork and stories, and just good ol' plain talent.
I REALLY am enjoying being able to see ALL the entries and not just the winners - thanks GWG for hosting!!!

Still sick, cold left me with a bit of a sinus infection. Plus been having to put in more hours at work. I want to work on my crafting but I am just so tired when I get home.
@ Qing. Not sure if this was suggested or not. What about having the Dwayna shrine/figure on the mantle? I know mine is covered with all sorts of ornaments right now. Wouldn't be overpowering to the picture but it still sneaks it in.
@darkpierrot. Very cute :-)

Keep up the good work guys. I haven't made much progress in the past couple of weeks yet, but today I just printed out some reference material in order to piece together the (apparently harder) right half of my work. I like the new works that have been added, a lot ^_^

I was just hoping to get more opinions on whether I should paint the whole thing holiday-themed colors, or to maintain the metallic colors with minor paint decorations.

@ Olrun. I vote for maintaining metallic colors.
Anyone have recommendations on how I could go about painting a surface to look like the ice in the snowman run? Testing a few ways right now but not sure if they will work out right.

I don't paint, but when I use colored pencils or Photoshop I generally make a flash of white at an angle down the center as glare and slowly fade into light tones of blue.

Yay no lunch shift today!
Hey Rocky, watch me saw a pumpkin in half! hehe Recycling old projects. (I kept the front part and stem and that going on my wall as a mask.)
Sprayed inside and out silver. Tried just painting with the blues it but it didnt look right. On to next idea.
Painted aluminum foil with white and metallic blue acrylic paint.
Crinkled the foil and glued it in. Then I sponged it with ice blue metallic and light blue with sparkles paint. Finally a coat of EnviroTex Lite.

They are the crackled glass beads. I did the regular ectos last year http://fav.me/d32cia1 I was searching around last week and I found these http://www.vitabeads.com/photo%2011/20110922%2007.jpg which I think would make even better ectos.

Ty and good luck 2 all Added your progress gallery but not the final artwork link since that's included in your gallery Are you still open for feedback from others in the workshop or are you completely done (just want to make sure in case you were still open to some even though you gave a final artwork link)?

Yay finally getting down to the last couple of weeks, so my hands are realizing this has to get done.
Color time.
Pay no attention to the fact that Gwen is looking vaguely off into the sky. That's why the black line is there down the middle, because when I move over to higher quality paper (as opposed to sketch paper), she's going to be moved down a bit, or they'll both shift a bit. Either way she'll be looking more at the present, which gives me the opportunity to paint in Dwayna's face rather than the back of her head. I also observed cartoon styling a bit more and realized that the eyes needed to change to a bit more round than almond. It's unrealistic, sure, but that's kind of a given anyways. Gwen's eyes are purposefully taller than they are wide.

What I finally decided on was that Dwayna would make a far better gift-giver than any of my alternatives. At this point I'm going to focus on polishing this image, rather than attempting a cartoonish Togo. I'm still working with a 10-year-old cheapo digital camera, but unfortunately that's all I've got until I borrow someone's.
