So from what ive gathered, 7th mini's are recycled minis from the past 5 sets, but ... everyone seems to be getting purple/gold and green? .. no whites or am i wrong

Well ... it is better than tonics.

So once again paragon gets shafted? No paragon mini, only profession without one.

So it's exactly what I expected to happen on 6th birthday (and on every one since then). It is now likely they will do the same for 8th and forward, perhaps adding the more rare tonics to the mix as well.

But they could have added a couple new ones, a mini Hounds of Balthazar for instance.

kind of reminds me of the year when I got the same christmas gift from my aunt...I had not wanted it the first time around and seeing as I got yet another one---

yeah, I dont see them doing anything else for gw, the live team has left the building, enjoy the last hurrah and pray that gw2 comes out before enough people are hopping mad about the mess they left behind in gw1......
(though I too, am glad no more tonics!)

i got a mini ooze :/

i really hoped for something cool, but at least that means nothing to distract from the gw2 beta

There are some minis that are not repeats from the presents of previous years - they're just rare. Of course, with my luck being what it is, I pulled a Miniature Elf. XP

well thanks for letting us know John (your luck is probably better than mine--have NEVER gotten a green mini with well over 150 opened gifts)!

so now we wait to see what the uber rare 7th year minis are......

waiting....

Well this was, ehh, unexpected...
I get the idea behind it if it's getting the rarer pets to lower in price for all those who are having a hard time aquiring them for their hall and all, but...
what about the people that have been playing for 7 years who get shafted with the old minipets?
I'm a fanboy, but this seriously sucks!

Edit: Just read John's post and sure it makes up for it, but why on earth reruns? oh well we'll see I guess.

Yeah, I gotta agree. I wont have a 7 year character for 2 more years and can never afford to buy the new minis/tonics when they come out each year so it doesn't affect me personally.

But kinda a sucky way to treat those 7 year veterans out there who should have had one last hurrah. The huge number of drops mean little to them since most of them have already completed the consumable tracks. The new pet is nice but it's for everyone. They probably need these second hand minis less than any other players in the game. And I don't think a very few people getting a new rare mini makes up for treating the rest of 7 year players to junk. Probably the idea was invented by the same guy who set the drop rate for mini polar bears. The one thing the 7 year vets could look forward to in the celebration was seeing the new surprise gifts in their inventory - and now that has been taken away from them when they discover their 15 mini shaman. So basically the ones who have been faithful to the game since the beginning are getting way less out of this celebration than anyone else. Not a nice way to treat the long term players, guys, not nice at all.

Time to assume the cone of shame, gentlemen, the cone of shame.

So a few people get extremely rare mini's that are gonna be selling for xxx ecto, and the majority gets reruns worth less then 10k. Broken Economy and 50-60 useable skills just isn't good enough, u gotta give the 7 year vets the finger too!
You guys are trying rly hard to destroy GW1 so we'll buy GW2 huh?

Very uncool approach with the extremely uneven value distribution at 7th year. Normally I'm a great fan of high randomization of rewards but presents are something special and especially 7th year presents which are very rare themselves. It really should have been more even value instead of going into extremes. So it's a 10k or 1000e lottery that will leave the great majority disappointed.

lol

being free doesn't turn a bad design decision into a good one - it's just free badness and that's never a good thing.

Ah, but the dirty little secret is that they have already gotten the money for GW2 from a lot of the 7 year players. So they don't even need to keep their loyalty for that.

Anyways I think it is a bit unfair to be rude towards Anet, I can understand the disappointment tbh, and I did hope for more at this event too, even though I do not have a char turning 7. But they did add something new, even if it only really caters to people that still need HoM and titles... kinda.

I am still hoping for a bit more later, if not.... well I will be playing gw2 in the weekend.

Dunno, I'd rather have a lottery shot at a hundred odd braces than just another white 7th year mini/tonic that is worth 50e or so

Mr Stumme, are they completely new minis or just minis that haven't been in a bday gift before? i.e. Peacekeeper Enforcer, Ceratadon, Kunnavang, Panda, etc.

Thanks for clarifying
