Redistributing the wealth (1000e)

Hello to all,

This is a brief update, I've been told it's fine for me to post in here since it's been a long time since my initial post. I wasn't quite sure on that, hence I left it till now.

I want to thank everyone that I have spoken to in game thus far, this is the reason I am giving away my wealth. It has nothing to do with the transfer of money - but rather the planting of connections, and seeing those flourish. My presence in game will be short lived, somewhat, but I hope that through the donations already made, and more soon to come (yes - this is still very much an active thread, I have about 250e left unaccounted for still), that some lifeblood will be pulsed into the game.

I've had some marvellous conversations with some people in game, some lasting hours, as a result of this thread and it's something I greatly enjoy. Whatever topic of conversation, whatever realm of theory or concern with the practical, I enjoyed and continue to enjoy the chats.

The determining of who receives the shield shall take a while longer, and will be decided after I have given away all my ecto - so those that have posted regarding that, please bear with me!

Once again, thank you to everyone for making this what it is. And do continue to post, my criteria as I get to less and less money available is becoming somewhat tighter - but the same general principals are there, so good luck to ye.

Whether you give me anything or not, I'd like to say it's pretty remarkable to me that you have chosen to repeatedly earn money and then give it away. I started playing GW a couple of weeks ago, and one thing that I've noticed right off the bat, is that people seem to actually give things to each other from time to time in GW. In any of the other games I've played, the very concept of a "giveaway thread" would be met with skepticism and downright hostility. It's very refreshing, and tbh, confusing, to see this going on here.

Anywho, it seems legit, so I created a login to post! As I've said, I've been playing for several weeks now. I just hit level 20 on Warrior last night, and I already can tell that I'm going to be playing this game for a long time to come. My wife had a baby 10 months ago, and GW is the perfect mesh of casual play and MMO longevity for me, seeing as I have alot of real life stuff going on atm. I still haven't done PvP yet, and I'm kind of thinking I might not try it for awhile as I'm so obviously going to suck at it, having never done it.

Essentially, I'd like to buy a set of armor so that I'm not looking quite so noobish as I run around knocking out quests. I'm shooting for the Norn set first, as I have 10k norn points already... Problem is going to be I've only got 6 platinum total, and it looks like I need 50 plus materials and such. If you'd like to help me out, it would be greatly appreciated! I haven't even traded anything with anybody yet, because I honestly have no idea how to find the value of things yet. I'm not saying that so you'll feel sorry for me and help a brotha' out or anything... just that it's a fact. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, just as I would get my Norn Armor and PvP eventually. The game seems to be relatively easy to pick up, just takes time as any respectable MMO would!

I'd use the money to help multiple members of my guild complete their HoM via weapons and mini's. I do a lot of competitions for my guild, but this would really help me get everyone excited and get a lot of people some HoM points and get them into GW1.

50e would make a lot of my friends happy, thus making me happy.

I've been a player for a year or so, but I've only recently found time to get through factions (have beaten prophecies back when I started). I'm trying to get up to 30 in my HoM. I'm almost halfway there (I got lucky with a green dragon in my presents!) but I still need armors and Zkeys. I've managed to get my Kurz armor (took a week) and still have alot of hard work ahead of me. I'm asking for help in getting my Zkeys. I feel these are likely beyond my reach for getting 30/50 HoM and they are a major pin in the whole plan.

I've played JQ many times (for imperial faction, then to balz but it takes so long). I tried doing the codex and random arenas, in random arenas people resign because I'm all geared/skilled in pve ranger/ritualist stuff. Despite the fact that I'm pretty talented at pvp (not the best, but I'm a solid team member who pulls his weight) I can't seem to earn any pvp titles because half my team quits when they see me with a black Moa in pvp. I can't even get into groups for codex. So if you'll help me get the remaing 197 Zkeys I'd love you forever and gladly chat in-game if you're ever looking.

I'm sure the ectos would be better in someone who needs them (I'm gonna try and get my own for obsidian armor... probably won't happen but I can try that part solo) Zkeys I can't do and no one seems to be giving me a chance.

So... for those of you with TLDR syndrome;

1) Specify what it is you want the money for
Zkeys (money for them, or hopefully you can trade for them instead, probably have a better idea of the value of plat/ectos vs Zkeys are)

2) Specify how much money you want
I'm not sure how much they cost each, how much ectos are worth on the market, so I'm just not sure (I just know its more than I've ever come close to being worth).

3) Any additional information you want to relay
To help pay it forward, I'd gladly assist you in helping others from time to time if you're ever looking for a non-hero/bot/hench for missions/dungeons.

If what I'm asking is way too much, then any help would be appreciated including help doing "runs" of the harder dungeons since I can't afford to pay people to run me through them and want to experience them as a player, not a leech.

Hi, my names Zach, and I've been playing GW for about 5 years now. I've always been the type to give my riches to others who need it (HoM, cool new weapon for their collection, etc) and now after approximately 4 years of that, I've driven myself broke. I've got a long list of people on Friends list that would be more than willing to tell you I'm not bs'ing. Most of these players I've helped I have met during missions ( me randomly helping someone saying LFG Eternal Grove) people looking for particular items in trade chat which I've hoarded over the years, and have given away to them since I don't use, etc. I could go on. But now that I'm broke, I'd really love to fill my OWN HoM, instead of others. I'm currently at 23/50 (you may check, my Ign is Fire Can Kill You). I'd love to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 25e, as this would get me most likely to 30/50. It'd be such an awesome present for me, in all my years of giving I haven't really been rewarded, but that's okay with me. But now, I'd love the extra boost so I can accomplish my goal, and have all my rewards for GW2.

First things first: you are one hell of a guy, Luke.

It's not often you find someone willing and eager to help out others (especially in competitive video games) but you don't seem to be like most people. I'm glad you still see GW as a social game. It's one of the greatest aspects about GW and yet it seems as though people have forgotten that while scavenging around for HOM points.

But I guess that brings me to my request. I've been working hard on my HOM for quite a while now, but unfortunately, I don't have a lot to show for it. I've been doing my best to fill my HOM with other people. It's more fun that way and seems to be a lot easier. However, there is one thing I can't do cooperatively - and it just so happens to be something I'm not too good at either - and that's my Zaishen Rank. I've been working hard on my PvP and earned about 50 zkeys but I'm still quite a ways from the 200 I need for the title.

Any amount of money/ecto you could give me would be more than gracious and I'd be quite thankful for it. I realize the 100+ ecto I would need is a little greedy but maybe you could swing 40-50e? Again, anything you can give is more than enough.

I would be very happy if you could give me 16 ectos. I would give 10 ectos to my brother so he can fill he's Hall of Monument a little bit. He's at zero points now becouse he's old account got hacked, so i would like to surprise him. Rest 6 i would use myself so i could buy a FoW helmet for my warrior. I never learned to do any farming (exept z-keys on double faction weekends), so it would take me forever to get ectos myself.

All I can say is that it takes a person with a big heart to give back to the game he has spent so much time playing. Hats off to you Luke.

I think 25 to 45 ectos would get me from 34 in my HOM to 40 and even though I would like to get 50/50 I am a Husband and Father of two wonderful children. I can do what is feasible while not taking time away from my children.

My real name is Charles(Chuck) and I played Guildwars during the Beta and off and on over the last 7 years. During that time my account was hacked and I lost anything valuable on my account and started the grind on my HOM about a year ago with only 4 points. I was l lucky to get a good 6th year and that helped get my HOM to 30 along with helpful players who took me under their wing.
I am not a hardcore player since I consider family comes first and do takes breaks from the game at holidays. I will pay it forward when I get to 40 and do the same but it would not be on the level you have done. I might just give what I have away and show some newer players what I have learned over the last 7 years.

In all honesty, I don't really have a need of any money, no more so than anyone else replying. I would like to ask for about 20e to buy myself some miniatures for myself ( a rare and enough to get my next point), maybe an oppressor weapon as well, or some Hero armour/skills. I bought the game as soon as it came out, but with school and parents etc. I never had the time to actually make something of the game. With about 15/20e, I hope to bolster my 10/50 HoM points to something closer to 15. I've been trying to do it by myself but without enough skills for heroes (or the money to buy them), and having a poor choice of heroes, I can barely complete missions, never mind farm for money.

More recently however, I have a great amount more time in which I can enjoy GW, and i've been striving to get my HoM up since.

I do hope to put any money offered to good use, ideally it'll re-invigorate my enthusiasm in the game (currently: on for awhile/off for a while). If all goes to plan, and I manage to complete these campaigns with bonus' and cartographer. I may even get to 20 HoM points, beating my initial target of 15/50.

I mean wow. Whether I receive anything or not people like you are flat out awesome and full of kindness. I've had GW since it first came out. I've always loved it even though I've been frustrated playing GW as well. I stopped playing for while but recently started playing again to achieve my 30/50 for GW2. When I came back I noticed I received a El Kuunavang Tonic which I sold for 95e. This helped me go from 5/30 to 19/50. I am low on funds and find that I need more funds to continue my journey to 30/50.

I find this process just like most very taxing but rewarding as well when you see a point added to your HOM acheivement. I have a wife and 2 kids and only play from around 10pm to 12pm CT during the week. I love spending time with my family. That's why I play so late.

The ectos would help me acheive my goal faster and allow me to play the game without all the grinding and stress. I do feel overwhelmed at times but keep pushing for the gaol at hand. It would also allow me to help others the way you are now. If you could provide me with 30 ectos, it would be much appreciated. I would buy a couple weapons and get some armor.

If it is too late, I understand as well. I still love what you have done and appreicate your kind heartedness to your fellow gamers.

Update: Thank you Luke again. Because of you I was able to get to 30/50 when you gave me the ectos. I was stuck for a while at 28/50. I was able to get my vabbian armor and reach my goal. Thank you for the tips as well. I know you were experiencing some connection issues when we were talking. I wish you much success. I will try and help others in a similar fashion.

i'll take as much as you'll give me, i'm relatively new to gw 1, been playing for like six months, and am not getting gw2, i'm even in a guild that isnt going to gw2 at all, so i'll be around to whatever you'd give me, so i'm trying to fill my HoM like everyone else anyway, and i want to get obby and vabbi armor out of the way so i can work on titles for skills and skill hunting . and i play every night for about 4 to 6 hrs / day. anyway, i guess i'll specify 30 ectos since it seems to be the norm, but of course i would be happy with any amount, thanks, back to playing

Hey, I've been playing GW for over 5 years now, however, with many long breaks. I want to max HoM asap, that's why I'm writing here. I'm 29 right now, so I still have a long way. Currently, I'm gathering materials for obsidian armor. Got ~60 shards and ~40 ectos and some money in gold. A gift for you would quicken the proccess of gathering. I'm not sure if the tall shield is gone, but if not I'd really love it as a gift to my friend. Gave a couple of my other best friends BDS's and actually bought him a HoD sword since I recalled him mentioning it. But it seemed he already had one and I remembered wrong so I'm a bit short of a parting gift for him since I already spent most of my cash.

First of all, I'd like to say how selfless it is of you to do this for people, it is really a great thing you're doing here.

Well my friend Ryan and I used to play together in Guild Wars, and it was our favorite thing to do together. And about 2 years ago, his father passed away, and since then he's been separated from everyone

He barely talks to anyone anymore and has little motivation to do anything.

Today I'm asking you for money because I want enough money to be able get his HoM points up. I already pre purchased GW2 for him so we can play together, but i want him to get the perks that everyone else is getting.

I remember back when we used to play, he said that he really wanted the Fiery God's Vambraces (30/50)

And I've been trying so hard to get money to help with that, but time is running out and there is no way I can do it alone

Anyways, I'm asking for 35e to help jumpstart the progress to maybe get him to around 10 or 15 out of 50, it would be great to get him to 30/50 and I'm going to try as hard as I can, but it doesn't really seem like it is possible at this point.

All I want is to give him some type of happiness and get him out of his hole so maybe we can be good friends again.

My 2cent request.

I am an avid fan of Guild Wars and Arena Net. I have been playing since launch, a long 7 years, yet in all that time, I have never purchased a set of Obsidian Armor for my Warrior. I have never been very good at farming, always showing up late to the party you could say, just getting the hang of the build/farming location, just before Anet makes changes to the game making the farm obsolete. Maybe I just have bad luck haha.

7 years though, that is a long time to stay committed to any one thing. I was actually just thinking about this the other day...
I have played guild wars longer than I have attended any one school, longer than I have dated any one girl, longer than I have played any other game, longer than I have held any one job. In the 7 years I have been playing Guild Wars, I graduated High School, attempted attending University on two separate occasions, moved from Arizona to Virginia, lived there a year, and then moved back, and now I am serving in the US Air Force. The one thing that has remained constant throughout, has been Guild Wars.

I am extremely appreciative of Arena Net for creating this world for me to have been part of for the past 7 years. Now as we approach the beginning of the next chapter of Guild Wars, I, like many others am working on my Hall of Monuments and completing titles.

Finally obtaining that set of obsidian armor, is as much for the HoM, as it is something that I would very much like to do for myself. A small donation from such a generous fan of the game I so dearly enjoy would be simply wonderful.

Hi Luke! A year or two ago, I started buying my buddy stacks of dye as a joke. He'd amassed quite a few stacks--grey, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple, and brown--before he decided to give them back to me, as he wasn't playing as much. I'd really like to finish the collection, and show him the next time he pops on. I think it would take around 10 ecto to buy pink and silver, the remaining stacks. I'm putting off tackling black and white until I've got everything else :P. Thanks for your consideration!
