Agreed. It's a bit late in the game for such a change as the glitch has been 'abused' beyond the point of no return.

Teleporting in to the trench in Stygian Veil is now a no-no I assume.

The Dunes mission is going to become an annoyance for people especially with a lower population. Having heros cover the ghost while you go and kill the generals isn't my favorite thing to do. If you had more time it would be nice but I don't see them altering that.

this only hurts doa trenchway and glitching into nahpui quarter so u can't skip vinuzah square anymore.
For doa all it means a few minutes longer runs, no biggie

next thing to do is: make the exploreable part of dunes having a hill down, so you can walk.... same if there's other areas like that

lemme guess, its cuz of 1 stupid elite area, or a farm, isnt it?

thats 1 thing i hate about anet, they do stuff like nerf skills for pvp and make no splits, change many things only cuz of farms and speedclears

if there's no suggestion like this yet, i'll make the dunes one

PLZ anet, do something nice for the general pve players, instead of making it harder for everyone cuz of farmers and/or speedclear people

WTF? I mean, they barely do any updates and if they do something it's something that hurt the playerbase and isn't actually needed to fix anything of importance...

When I discovered Dunes of Dispear I needed around 4-5 attempts to cover the whole area and it wasn't enjoyable as exploring because it was very hasty. After exploring the area I found out about the glitch and startet the mission again to actually explore everything, making screenshots etc. To make it short: Doing exploring the way I enjoy it, doing it the way why I like exploring-->Exploring unhurriedly and enjoy the environment/taking screens off it.
Not there is no way anymore to just enjoy that part of the map and that is horrible.

I have to agree with Coast. This looks blatantly like a move to decrease the player base. Simply a low-down, scumbag move imo. If this was an issue, it would've been fixed 3-4 years ago. Messing with it now shows Anet's intentions.

Dunes shouldn't be a big problem, you can use the Goss glitch instead, which IMO is the better glitch anyway as it works universally.

This is actually pretty comical. We'll never know their intentions behind doing this, but the more and more they update this game now, the more it seems like they want to lower the player base. After all, they did make a "promise" to keep the servers going as long as there is a player base. Maybe they see you all as a financial pitfall now and that the times of Guild Wars are truly coming to an end.

Were spirits able to attack through gates previously? I couldn't get them to hit an infected guard on the other side of the gate in Minister Chos Estate. Although you can still cast spells and summon minions.

I think nobody cares about the Dunes mission anymore. We are in 2013 guys, almost 8 years after the release. The main problem is about DoA. Why do they do this NOW ?
It's just very stupid.

Meanwhile, earth shockwave eles are killing PvP so hard and Anet don't do anything.
People saying that Anet cares about GW are all wrong. To me, they are killing their own game since 2010/2011. Maybe earlier.
I really hope I can make my own server once, with my own settings of the game.

I hate when people do this. They pick one part of the game and say to hell with anyone else that doesn't play that certain part. Yeah we care about Dunes. It was easier to play mission wise and was easier to map Cart wise. Honestly , I could care less about DoA players and gems and armbraces that are of no value to me. But you know what? I'm not going to say let's just ignore the DoA playerbase because I have no interest in it. People need to grow the *** up and learn there are other people in the game beside the 100 or so in one area farming.

It's bad enough we get people who come in here and make it a pve vs pvp issue. Now we have pve farmers crapping on fellow pve players.

You don't actually need to map that area for 100%. I scrapped everywhere, and I had 100% with a whole area not mapped. There's a lot of leeway in Tyria.

That said, the change is stupid at this point. All the botting and exploiting going on, and they settled on this? Even if it was an easy fix. The PvE in this game is all but founded on exploiting crappy AI and triggers. There's a whole wiki to catalog this.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but due to this update automated tournaments are now bugged.

4 7 day players are now required (like it used to be) compared to the 2 we've gotten used to.

Hence why we've seen so many forfeit guilds today.

(and yeah there might be lots of extra % in prophecies...but it was nice to explore the area on your own without having only ~9 minutes to do it...it used to take me about 1/2 hour to clear the whole dunes mission extra area, now it will take me 4-5 trips thru the silly mission to. )

For those who are crying for their dunes, it's time to wake up and learn how to play.

When I did the cartho on my lvl5, I didn't use the glitch to explore, I just launched the mission and run. You have enough time for the cartho...

The thing is, this update might have been set when they changed urgoz, the only area where the teleportation was legit.

try without texmod, my map seems like its almost done (guessing i can see 0.3 undone), yet i have more than 1.0% to do

and i dont use texmod, as i wanna play GW by only turning on GW to play it (besides, i'm no fan of using 3rd party stuff for my games, especially not with my account)

now i hope to see something (like replies) from anet, as even i, who always had more faith in anet than most when nerfs or stupid/useless changes were made, am doubting they want to keep GW alive anymore (so many defensive posts for anet, and now this stuff..... o_O)

jayson : No offense dude, but cooperative missions in prophecie are very less played than end-game areas.
End-game is why people stay in the game.

I've just tweet SL to ask him why did they do this, I don't really expect an answer ^.^

I disagree with this completely. The only reason it looks like there's more people playing it is beause there's only a few zones you meet up in. If you look at daily zaishen quests, bounties and vanquishes, you get far more players doing these then any other in the game. I'm betting that general pve play beats pvp and endgame by at least 4 to 1.

Yes people have been like that for ages but that still doesn't make it right. Too many people accept things as "just the way it is"

I'd like to see real skill updates too but obviously they've taken a back seat to GW2 so I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

What about Urgoz. And I have confirmed the traversal with the Chabeck village, I wasn't able to teleport on to the ships anymore using any of the necro corpse skills.

No, I don't care about 100% on my cartography. I care about having the map visually completely clean. So yes, I care about mapping dunes and other missions. And I don't like having to do it with time costraints, what's the fun of exploration if you do it in a rush and with an eye at mission timer?
Also, if changes don't touch you at all please refrain from saying "who cares". I don't care about many things in update but I just don't comment on them, as others indeed do care.

I personally prefer if they don't touch ranger and smite with updates, especially ranger, paragon ok cause it can't be worse...but after ele update I prefer they would keep like this professions with some use. But well at least don't make harmful changes just to have a reason to do updates, I'd rather have no updates than bad ones, honestly.

Just curious to know but has anybody noticed bad connection spikes that don't normally happen after this update? Before the update i sat on a stable ping of 70ms and still do only for a short period off time before it jumps up hitting 700ms+ For a few mins and then drops again.

sad. Just sad. That is all I can say about this update. I don't think future updates here on will illicit a different response from me. Still, it really is pointless the teleportation change. I agree with an above poster who says they should be renamed to shadow step now. I also don't remember now, and an above poster mentioned it, but doesn't Urgoz actually need teleportation to complete?

Not anymore, they changed that a while ago. They've put a ramp or something so that you don't need the skill to go on.

If the player base is notably decreased by a random exploit getting closed there is a serious problem with that player base. Why now? Probably a bot farm using it somewhere or some such. So why not fix it all with one easy change, including the tiny "innocent" exploits along with it, instead of taking more time to cherry pick the worst offenders?

I don't see this as a fix for a "random exploit." Necrotic transport skills have been what they were since Day 1 of their release. How do you allow an "exploit" to continue for so many years? The player base is tense at the moment, waiting for the ball to drop and the game to poof, especially with so little attention being given to MAJOR complaints and OP skills that have yet to be addressed. So silly little skill alterations like this, that truly make no sense after such a long duration of use, further increase that tension.

Don't worry, GW2 isn't getting any meaningful updates either, in fact they continue to piss the player base off and people are quitting because of it.

Or maybe we should worry.... whatever. ANet are god damn crazy nowadays.
