Is there a petition for 2 new slots instead of 1?
chris_nin00
All I want are 2 slots...
Just 2! Give me 2 slots or I'll quit!
Oh, the debacle is over?
Ok nevermind. I'm fine. 1 slot is fine for me.
It's undecided?
Ok then undecided slots are fine with me.

Most people here want the slots to be added to their existing account.
I myself want 2.
Stand alone accounts get 4 right?
Banebow
If they gave a starting account four character slots, and then added one per additional chapter added, well, I'd be happy. I am not even fully using all my slots right now, because I really have no wish to go through the game for a 6th or 7th time. I am happy to continue earning gold and experience on my mesmer, rather than taking another character through the game.
By giving one more slot per additional chapter, they provide players with plenty of slots, enough that you cannot be using all of them often enough to demand another slot, at least once, say, chapter four comes out. (that would add up to 7 total slots, for those of you bad at math ) Yes, by that point there would be twelve classes, but you will never convince me that you could play 12 different characters regularly enough to warrent having them all and still be able to pay for your internet connection.
If ArenaNet gives me one slot, I will be a happy man. If they decide to give me two, I will be happy. If they say "screw em all, you'll never have more than four" I will continue playing with only mild disappointment. Yes, I have deleted characters to make room for others, some of them with 15k armor. If you want to try out all the classes, then think ahead. Don't buy 15k armor for every character you make, don't spend money on those gold weapons. Try the character, and make a decision. Either you like the play style or you don't. If you don't, delete him/her and make a new character. If you do, then save the character and make another one in a different slot. If you are on your fourth slot, use PvP characters to test if you like the class. If you hate PvP, well, one can tell fairly quickly if the play style fits them, sometimes before you leave pre searing.
(note: this is not directed at anyone in particular, just my thoughts from what I have experienced playing the game)
And, of course, there is always a second account.

Either give us two more slots or give us one slot AND increase our character storage by 200%, pretty please.

Only the really dedicated to the cause will not buy it and stand their ground which will probably just be a handful or a drop in a bucket. Even I will buy it eventually, but, I will stick to my principles of waiting it out for bargain bin prices, it's not like anyone is going to get ahead of me since Anet gives everything to you, all you have to do is RUN through the content and you can have everything within a day or two. And since there's still a level 20 level cap I don't have to worry about leveling up. Just pay someone to get me to the NPC where I can buy all my skills, so simple, so easy and save about $45. I already have so much ingame money I have nothing to spend it on anyway because weapon stats never change and armor stats never change, the equipment I have now will be just as good a year from now as it is right now why waste $45?

The potential problem though, is that since it is not tied to your previous account, you have to unlock the chapter 1 skills/runes/weapon upgrades all over again. If one were to use the chapter 2 key in connection with chapter one, they would have all access to what they previously worked for.
As of right now, if one were to guess (for that is what we could only do), it would be choosing either 2 seperate accounts with 4 slots each (but no connection on shared unlocks) or 1 account with X(amount still undetermined) slots total with previous unlocks available.

this makes a lot of sence because if i can go all the way back to chapter 1 for everything i will simply have a runner do the rounds for me picking up everything and then go on to chapter 2 content with 4 slots extra and lose nothing instead of 1/2
they have to have an incentive to get chapter 2
remember you can run 2 accounts on 1 pc at the same time as well to swap gold/loot or even run yourself

if the skill set is locked i will see if it is what i want and see if the new skills for that profession are chapter 1 available or only chapter 2 available.
i think chapter 1 available to help keep interest going for ones who dont get chapter 2
the only thing i am sure of is we will find out eventually

Again, in response to all the people saying "4 slots is enough even for PvE", Sure, you're forced to make choices. The problem is, lets say you have 4 level 20 chars, and you want (Ok, maybe 'want' is the wrong word there) to delete one, in favor of another primary. Great, so you pick the one you like the least, and then what? Test out the new primary, and bring back your old char if you don't like the new one better? I wish.
Despite all the DF running and whatnot, it still takes time to get a char to level 20, longer if you don't get run, and still longer if you want more than the basic skills. I don't like the idea that you should avoid caring about a char, avoid getting skills, 15k armor, superior runes, etc just on the offchance you might delete it.
I'm looking forward to the day where a conversation like this can't happen
"Any guildmates have a monk they can bring to Hell's Precipace?"
"Nope, sorry, I deleted my monk to make a ranger, and don't have any more slots."
Make choices? Meh, thats great for a game where a zerg-fest can work, but GW requires at least some basic teamwork. I for one don't like being limited by what primarys I picked, when two more char slots would make it a non-issue.
I love the flexability offered in the form of atribute points, skills, and secondary classes. I don't get why we don't have the same flexability when it comes to primary classes.

Why is everyone kicking off about how many slots we get in the new chapter? By my reckoning we would need 56 slots to fit in all combinations for all professions (8 primary x 7 secondary). So therefore by only allowing us 5 slots in chp 2 they are encouraging player freedom of choice.
If I had no free slots do I delete my lvl 20 W/E and start anew as a W/Mes. Just how different would the game be?

Having more slots is the only thing I don't like about the game (and I mean ONLY). However asking for 4 new slots is a waste............
Having 4 characters, and characters that can swich professions and swich magics quickly, and still being bored means maybe you should find a different game............
Adding 1-2 slots will be good enough. Keep your PvE chars and still have a room for an Assassin/Ritualist PvE and then a PvP w/ 2 new slots.
Really out of ideas? Swich your secondary profession and unlock skills for him/her.

From what I can tell so far, the only thing you won't get with ch 2 are the elite skills for the core classes from ch 1.
And just think, those with only ch 2 get only 4 slots with 8 classes to choose from.

Really out of ideas? Swap Secondarys? Sure, thats exactly what I need to do to get my Warrior to function exactly like the ranger I can't have because I'm out of slots. Oh, crap, no.
Adding 1-2 slots is only fine if you enjoy being limited. What class don't you have? Have you ever wanted to try playing that class in endgame PvE? What if you enjoyed the game enough that you liked every primary to some extent?
Yes, it looks like people with just C2 would have the same problem, but why shouldn't they?
Quote:

As far as secondarys go, thats not the issue at all. Theres a perfectly fine ingame feature that lets you change secondarys. The problem is that primarys, regardless of the secondary are unique. The playstyle of each primary is very unique. With no way of changing primarys ingame, you're forced to make a new char. The real problem is that you run out of slots before you run out of primarys to try, and many people don't like deleting chars.
How varied would the game be with more slots? Well, more varied I would argue. Many people feel compeled to have at least a monk, and often a warrior, and now a necro as well, as they become more popular in farming. Now that leaves them one slot to fill with a ranger, ele, or mesmer, and for first, the mesmer is out. I wouldn't be suprised if we saw some more mesmers floating around if we currently had 6 slots.
I think 1 slot has long been out of the question. Now the question is, will they keep up the silly 'if its good enough for pvp unlocks...' philsophy, and only add 2 slots. Or if they'll add enough slots for PvE, since PvE players are the ones who would be more likely to use the slots. (as well as being unhappy that they're lacking enough slots, which I am)
JiggyFly
One more slot doesn't bother me, because if I have to buy a second account so be it, although I don't much like the idea of having to buy 2 expansions if I get a second account.
Although it does seem a bit dishonest to me because 2 accounts + 2 expansions, actually come out to costing more than if Guild Wars had a monthly fee. (All the MMORPGs I have ever played with monthly fees had enough slots for every character type)...but from a buisiness standpoint I would probably do the exact same thing so I guess I'm just being hypocritical.

Actually, its sorta logical to only put in one extra slot. Our current status is 4 slots, or...
3 slots to cover for being able to do all the current classes, primary or secondary.
1 for a random character.
Adding one more will automatically cover for the Sin (assassin) and Rit (ritualist) characters.
Besides, be happy you don't have to pay monthly fees. Compare $50 for GW to around $200/yr for WoW. 10 yrs down the road: WoW cost: $2000, GW cost: still $50.

Vnewbie is right. No monthly fees and there's only 8 professions people! One slot is enough by me. I believe they should add one slot with every expansion to compensate the two new professions they added. If you want more char slots then what is given at the time, just buy another account. It's how it goes, business people. I make do with the char slots they give me so I don't see any reason why people should go asking Anet for more than it offers.

Now that is true and your point on more mesmers floating around is a good point. But it all comes down to making decisions. Make do with what you have. "Delete this char and make another one or keep it since it's my only tank?" Decisions.............

I'm happy with 4... I have a Forge Runner (Cash Cow), An IW mesmer (RP/15k/blackdye), And a necromancer (RP/15k), then a free slot which I use for PvP...
The necromancer could easily be deleted for a new character in Factions, I don't mind, Although 1 more slot would help me greatly.

No matter how it ends, it would be nice to have a character slot for each
profession so that we can play each and every profession as primery!
and not settle for having to change secondry profession to play the
profession we want.
I already have 2 accounts like many of you but not alot of people
would be willing to pay twice to play the same game effectively
just for those extra character slots.
Basicaly if theres 6, 8, 10 or 12 professions! it should mean
6, 8, 10 or 12 character slots to go with them, Simple as that!
I think that would be fair, but thats just my humble oppinion!

By the way, im not moaning, I'll still be here happily playing either way, .

Please give us two. I will be extremely disappointed otherwise ... while I understand the cost constraints.. I really hope that they'll give us a bit more flexibility.. I'd have to leave my new slot open for pvp, and then I can't make my new ritualist (which I am really excited for ;_
Oh well... I guess in the end it's never enough.. but i don't think it's unreasonable to hope for 2.

Also, I have bought two accounts in order to have the joy of all the primaries, and while Factions, if getting one slot is most, I would still buy both accounts.
It would seem to me as though most of the people who have two already will buy it again just for the new primaries.
I would like two or more slots the most though.

If they dont give us 2 slots, they must AT LEAST allow us to buy character slots as I asked Gaile.

Gaile Gray, on one of her recent visits, did say that 'there will be more than 2, but less than 100'...so atleast we know that there will be atleast 3 slots...I REALLY am hoping for a dedicated PVP slot...I have had to delete 2 chars with 15k armor dyed black because I wanted to create a new char, and for pvp

the question here is how many slots you get if you merge accounts for chapter one and two.

she states cleatly that the decision for slot number is still completely open . (meaning that the joking 3-100 slots was humorous )
you will get less slots for merging than a stand alone.

Here is my take on this, and feel free to critisize me. I personally would pay to unlock more slots on my current account. When chapter 2 comes out I figured out I need to have 9 slots to have what I want and that is one character of each primary with one slot for PvP. I don't PvP a whole lot but when I do I like to be versatile and right now I can't do that I have 4 lvl 20 PvE characters that I have way too many hours on to delete. I deleted my ele a while back had 15k aero on him and now I am kinda regretting it because I miss him. On the people that say that you never play some of your characters you are dead wrong in my case. I have almost the same amount of time on all my characters and tend to be the flexible one of my guild. I maybe the leader of the guild but when we need to do something I ask what they need instead of what I want to bring.
Also I don't want to go through unlocking all those skills again. I have over 1200 logged hours in 8 months (just checked in-game). ALL but about maybe 200 of those hours are playing hours. I have almost every ele skill unlocked all but restore condition (forgot cap sig) for monk and most of the rest of them unlocked with exception to mesmer. I don't want to loose all those unlocks when I get another account as thats a lot of work. I would prefer being able to purchase slots or merging account ability.
My vote would go for being able to purchase unlocks for more slots. Feel free to tell me I am wrong, but that is where I stand and sorry if it sounds like I am whining.

Agreed completely. I would gladly pay for more slots, perhaps even up to $15-20 each. In that case, I would probably only buy two or three, but I would still most definately buy. Honestly, instead of the petition to get one more slot, I think this is the petitions that needs to be started.
Perhaps a fair price would be $10 per slot?
Perhaps a fair price would be $10 per slot?

Ya, 10 per slot seems fair to me for an additional slot. I just know that I like to be a versitle person and the ability to have a character of each class would help that a lot.

$50 dollars for anything less than a FULL game (4 character slots, new area/content etc) is just not worth it IMO.
For $50 we should get at the very least everything that we paid $50 for GW Prophecies(Chapter 1)
I know they haven't "officially" announced anything yet but it does appear the price has been set, or EB Games and Gamestop seem to have left themselves open for some false advertising lawsuits from Anet and the public.

I just have one question to the people on the opposite side of things as I am standing then I will leave this very well alone and wait. Why should we need to install Factions seperatly just to get the 4 slots and not allow our characters to cross to the new content? Doing things this way will inherently lead to the same problem I am stuck with now, thats is simply not enough slots to make the characters I want to have but unwilling to get a new account based on the extreme amount of time and work I have already put into this account. I can see how getting a second account would work for some, just not for me. Also I don't plan on leaving GW if they don't give us more slots. I simply won't buy factions. That is the last of my 2 cents.
