Greetings all!
Please forgive me if some of these have already been mentioned.
The "collector" outside the main gate of Ascaron who will trade you a
belt pouch for 10 scales. This works as intended the FIRST time, but
if you try it again, he will take the 10 scales from you and you don't
get jack for them. Fair warning! Either he should state you already
have a pouch and not trade at all, OR a "switch" should be set to
remove the belt pouch as an option if you already have it, OR you
should be able to get another pouch by trading 10 more scales. In
any event, the collector shouldn't "rob" you of 10 scales and give
up nothing in return.
At the end of the "Poor Tenant" quest, when you have lured the 3 swarms
of bees across the bridge, the quest text incorrectly tells you to speak with
the WRONG NPC character. Intead of going back to the miller (whose name
I can't recall right now) it tells you to speak with the warrior wench Devona
who is nearby.... or however you spell her name.
At the end of the "Prize Bull" quest, after you have discovered the remains
of the bull in in the catacombs, the "compass" directs you to the WRONG
NPC to complete the quest. Instead of directing you to the NPC farmer
in Ashford, it points you back to the walls of Ascaron to a farmer named
Mack...... who was the one that had the "Rogue Bull".....a completely
different quest.
During the "worms" quest, the queen worm does not appear at all sometimes
even after you deliver the egg to the farmer who "lures" it out for you. This
happened to me twice... no queen ever appeared, and I had to round up
another egg and try again and again until it did. When I did this mission
with another character, it appeared right away the first time. AND, the
Queen retreats in the ground very quickly and regenerates her health
too quickly for most lower level characters to kill solo. I couldn't do it
until I bumped up my spells and had a pet assist.
On the quest to purify the minotaur's horn in the spring, I believe the compass
either directs you to the wrong location, or it just doesn't recognize when you
are there with the horn. I tried repeatedly to do this, including covering the
complete surrounding areas, and dropping the horn here and there in the water
to see if that would trigger anything. Never got this to work.
I started off as a Mesmer/Ranger and charmed a stalker as a pet. I later
converted to a Mesmer/Elementalist and my pet stayed! It followed me
around for over an hour until it was finally killed. From that point on,
it showed up on my team with full health, but was not physically present.
I couldn't get rid of it at all, until I deleted my character and remade it.
A note here, as to why many of the collectors offer "starting items" as a
reward for collecing 10 specific items...... why would anyone want to work
that hard to get the freebie starting item you began the game with? It
should at least by a notch or two above that.....
There is a golden temple in a wooded area, with a basket of apples nearby.
When you go to get the apples, needle spiders start dropping from the
trees. If there happens to be some close to each other, they start
attacking each other instead of you! I thought this was very odd.......
Many, MANY times, I was totally "blocked" and unable to move at all which
almost resulted in my character getting killed, and helplessly watching my pet
die b/c it was out of healing range. Some NPCs, like the pesky little girl (Gwen?)
follow you and stop right behind you.... if you go into a
narrow passage or "dead end" and she stops like that, good luck! You
will be stuck there for a while until she decides to move.
Other than that, I experienced some major issues with "rubber banding"...
having my character warp forward into battle, and then warp back away
from the fight and then warp back into again. Very frustrating. This also
caused me numerous problems when traveling as well.
But, on the other side of the coin, I would like to throw out some positive
points as well. The graphics and sound are probably the best I have ever
seen in a game like this, and I have played several (Ultima Online, Asheron's Call 1 & 2,
Dark Age of Camelot, City of Heroes, Everquest). The landscapes are simply
breathtaking........ the lighting is incredible..... and the details are truly amazing.
It is definitely a feast for the eyes and helps to truly immerse
one into the game. Very well done!
Now if I can just wait until I can get my next "fix"..........
See you in game!
