Assassins will find themselves great in one on one confrontations but will be less usefull fighting in larger teams of other assassins.
In a matter of time teams that dont split will bring one monk and start looking like:
Fighter (warrior, elementist, ranger, assassin)
Fighter
Fighter
Disabler (mes, nec)
Disabler
Healer (monk)
Ritualist
Flagrunner (ranger or assasin)
Teams that do split will proably stay away from ritualist.
If flagstand standoffs become the common stratigic point of winning combat, teams will have lots of ritualist to make a mobile base with offensive/defensive properities.
Im sure there is a lot of stuff I dont see now. But after fiddling around with them, this looks like there obvious strenghs, weakness and roles in thier teams. Very astute observations. I agree that the ritualist can play a strong role in flagstand. The team may even go w/ 2 Rt/Mos and no primary monks, depending on the build.
btw, I would label the fighter category "Attacker" instead.

Now I think they look cool but it doesn't fit well into the whole middle ages thing.. I mean all the character's face are asain and all the rits look like they came from some africa place (Remind you... the rits seem like they're on the same land as the assassins.)
I'm not racist or made.. It's funny to see an assassin sneaking around or rolling on the ground to sprint like in Naruto in a middle age era. =) But hey whatever works they're still cool.
Issues with Assassins...
Chain combos - Yeah it sucks major when you have three attacks that are a chain, but you can manage easily. The daggers attack faster than swords and axes.. Add frenzy to it and you'll do fine really or don't bother fighting one of those "Can't hit me" people.
Energy - Folks seriously use zealous daggers it helps A LOT while you're attacking and getting that extra energy per hit plus crit attacks you're always going to have 50% energy.
Assassins and they're evading. My assassin in pvp uses gladiator's defense and let me tell you how many times I killed other assassins that not only attack fast they miss a lot and die from my defense (And I make sure they don't mirror stance me)
There's tweaking needed for the assassin I think but then again I got 16 flawless wins in a row with a r/a a RT and I think another RT even though we did fight all kinds of groups. Even the same kind of groups as us. So no the assassins are not over powered nor are the RTs. Hit us with SS degen or knock down, etc we lose FAST. =P
Edit - Also one way to not lose a chain attack are to use more lead attacks (Like having two one as a back up to finish your combo) This game doesnt take place in the middle ages, it just seems that way because it's Fantasy rpg. First, I don't think there were dragons, lizard people, or crystals raining from the sky called down by big dog/cat people during the middle ages, lol. Also, if this were taking place in the middle ages, no one would play it because everyone would be running around with phalick shaped helmets and big colorful banners covering their cheap chainmail armor.
And to finish, i'm not trying to mock or insult you, just making a meaningless point.

But besides that.. I like playing an assasin more then an ritualist.. Haha, i've heard that a lot. I would agree, but there sprint animation rules, and if they changed their normal one, it would inevitably end up looking much worse than it does now unless they just tweaked the one they have. Why does no one ever mention how rediculous it looks when the RANGERS run, lol

I love the Assassin, I have full plans on making my R/Mo into a R/A as soon as possible, since the only monkly thing I do is bring a decent Res. Wow. I've found the Assassin I wouldn't say more useful, because during the course of the day I've been beaten plenty by Ritualist combinations, but more towards my own style of playing. I like the deviousness, the fast attack speed, and OMG the Chain skill attacks are the best thing to hit GW since Sorrow's Furnace. I like the Dual weapons thing, I just would have preferred being able to pick my own dual-wieldable weapons. But, I suppose there would be more problems with that then good, so, I'm more then happy with what I've got. Assassin ftw.

Has anyone tried a Gaze from Beyond/Spirits spike build yet? I've been trying to get a team together to try it.

I played the assasin for a while and just gave up - I hated it.
It was probably just me, but I didn't like them, especially how they ran.
I played ritualist though, and had heaps of fun and really enjoyed them.
Again, it's probably just me as I didn't use faction to unlock skills, and I didn't play for long, but I think ritualists ftw

My only gripe with the Ritualists is that I hate SKIRTS! I mean seriously, can't the male characters get some pants like Togo.. That is great looking armor, but I don't feel like running around in a skirt..

Still haven't seen an effective assasin build yet( RA Temple Strikers notwithstanding), and still don't know where theyre supposed to fit into the game.

In beta preview I was the ultimate assassin fan, but with the demise of the good version of Shadow Refuge... assassin is just nothing but a weird warrior. In my groups assassins are the first to go, and even though I started with an Assassin, I have grown tired of him, and by reaching the harbor I have changed. I just can't find an effective build, and his armor and skills do not make assassin that great in melee.
I have, though, started a necro-assassin, using blood and deadly.. and I do say it is pretty sweet in PvE
