LAST WARNING. SPOILERS AHEAD.

As we all know, Guild Wars had a lacking storyline at places...behold! Here we speculate on such...as with older threads.

Some things I've been pondering:

-The terrible sacrifices that heroes make. Saidra is killed in two seconds, the mursaat move four miles a year, usually I have a necro with me who can use his MINIONS as suiciders. Brechnar. He doesn't even get attacked, really. He just goes "Jaja joo all suck! Taste steel!" then the mursaat get pissed and chase him offscreen, where he doesn't even die, I believe. His npc character just vanishes! Rurik's death wasn't really a sacrifice, but I find it to be the only "decent" death of a fellow hero.

-Justiciar Hablion. Okay, did anyone else find him odd? I mean, he's this valiant and noble hero, then all of a sudden, his voice changes GREATLY - he sounds like Rexxar from Warcraft, and starts going "I am uber! I am the one to end it all! I am he who will sound like an idiot when I say what I am saying now!".

-Similarity to Warcraft. Ok, I find the storyline quite similar to Warcraft in ways...

First, Rurik is the noble prince, like Arthas, who is desperate to save his people and goes off against his father, in the end he corrupts himself (well, with Rurik, he just gets himself killed by a tree and a sharp axe). An undead army, controlled by an evil lich. Either The Lich Lord or The Lich King. They could at least name this one, instead of keeping "The Lich <Fancy Title>". As we know, the mursaat are, perhaps, attempting to prevent the flameseeker prophecies, in which the titans would be unleashed and pwninate them. Forgotten and powerful...some similarity to night elves? Do we even know whether they're evil or just trying to save theirselves. Who knows, maybe WE'RE evil. It's ridiculously hard to tell.

-The Vizier was obviously the lich lord...the scepter, the voice, and his creepy doll-like eyes. In the ring of fire mission, "We are going to the top of the volcano." He forgot to say, "In truth, you can break through that door and beat the gunk out of the mursaat, but I prefer if you take the highly perilous route and die miserably. That's what I want for wintersday, you know." Speaking of that, why does he want us to GET PWND AND DIE on the way up the volcano, if he needs us to open the Door Of Komalie?
-----
Speculate on all the lore and storyline here...

ahahah, there a lot other threat had talk about how weird or lame GW storyline is. But man so far yours is best and funniest of all, do agree the story sucks, well so does pvp and pve game play.

The only reason GW is sold is because their low requirement (Good) graphic, and claim of MMORPG with no monthly fee, which we all know GW is not a MMOPRG.

Funny how A-net revise GW to be a CGORPG as in “Cooperative Global Online Role-Playing Game”. Sounds like when our G.W. Bush can’t find Massively Destruction Weapon in Iraq…lol.

Note: GW is not really “Global” yet…+)

To be honest, does ANY MMORPG (or whatever GW is defined as this week) have a decent plot ? Nice way to turn a funny post about the plot into a trashing of the game by the way...

WoW, perhaps. I don't have it, but the Warcraft story has been strong for some time, I don't know if that would have what you call a "decent plot". GW is like the only CGORPG, I think ANet made that term up off the top of their head.

The ingame movies where we get to listen to Evennia talk about saidra's sacrafice are just not working for the players, to be honest, most people don't even know who it is, or at least don't have any connection to the character because we maybe only saw her once in a movie. Same goes for Brechnar, we get to see him maybe twice and then he dies, so the whole end-mission movie where he's cremated is just lame and boring because you just don't care about an npc you only saw once, and briefly for that matter. I didn't feel betrayed by Markis because the last time we saw him, he said one sentence in the jungle, and THAT's it. Anet needs to give us more time to at least get familiar with the npc's if they want us not to laugh at the scenes where they die, because right now we just don't care. Rurik is the exception of the rule, pretty much, but since he had horrible AI, a lot of people are happy they don't have to follow him into overwhelming odds anymore.

But that's why I liked Rurik. Despite the overwhelming odds, he still charged into battle knowing his chances of survival were slim while shouting out a cheezy line all in the name of his people of Ascalon.

Crazy, but very brave dude. I didn't like how cold ending he had at Hell's Precipice where you're like "Okay, I'll kill you, whatever."

Rurik's warcries were just weird.

"You are a pox on Ascalon, and I am the cure!"

I didn't care for Markis at all, really. Evennia creeped me out. She has to be a Krytan, yet she doesn't have an awesome accent like Saidra. Then again, I don't remember what Dorian sounded like. Speaking of Dorian, anyone else agree with me that his legs were WAY TOO PUNY for his fatness?

Dorian has a Western Asian Accent (at least that is what it sounds like to me), his clothing looks almost Tai or Cambodian (based on period movies).

The only time I saw Saidra was in the Riverside Bonus.

Did it ever bother anyone that Rin, the capital of.. Ascalon?.. was outside of the wall?

Correction.

It was not only outside of The Wall, it was outside of a second wall that really isn't important enough to name. Even more, not only does no one at that second wall realize Rin is burning, it looked like Rin had been burning for say, five-to-ten years.

This, as well as the comparison between the "good" dwarves and the "bad" dwarves (the bad had -way- cooler toys) has made me consciously aware that good is stupid and evil is always about one-upmanship.

I didn't get Rin either. Also, I'm pretty sure the map description of Ascalon City says it's the largest city in the kingdom and the center for cultural etc or something like that, it only makes sense it be the capital, then. And I agree with you about Rin burning. I thought "Omfg Rurik who gives a *bleep* about Rin?!?! it's been burning since the searing, you idiot". Unless it was like, "Rin is burning! I must go and save my royal teddy bear!". Else I see no reason for Rurik to waste his time saving Rin.

Dwarves always have technology, that's a truth in all games, really. Still, I too am surprised. Also, all dwarves should have those awesmome accents like in Warcraft, "Where be me beer, ya bums? I needs ta be pissed ta fight!". In GW, King Jalis is like the only one with a dwarven accent. Everyone else sounds...normal. THAT'S SO WRONG.

what bugged me is they never thought to tell us why they were at the war with the charr. There wasnt enough background info to the game. And now with this new update we are helping out people we dont even know, why? The game is still way to easy, they need more info and missions and storylines to back the game up.

Counting the keystone, there are 5 bloodstone shards, or at least the manuscripts say that. Let's see what we have so far:

-The Shiverpeak Bloodstone they planned to kill Evennia and Saidra on.
-The Bloodstone in the Bloodstone Fen mission.
-The Bloodstone you fight the Lich Lord on.
-The Bloodstone by the Door of Komalie's seals. (Or is this the same as the above bloodstone...)
---
Hm, yes. Surely it is in the Crystal Desert or Ascalon, seeing how every other shard is mostly in the western area of Tyria.

MMS - Did you read the manuscripts (that come with the game)? They give a fair bit of backstory, though not much, I agree.

yes i did read the little black book thingy. I still didnt really understand what was going on just a bunch of Cynn using firestorm and them running from Nolani and all that. Basically it was the Acadamy of Nolani mission because they got storm caller. It didnt help to much

The book gives hints that the lich is the b---- .
I've read the little black book(note to be confused with the movie) countless of times. I used to read it before I sleep .
I think only 2 blood stones are in this game. The next 3 will be presented in the next chapters I think. But what do I know.

I think that the bloodstone you fight the lich on is actually the keystone, but since I have never actually reached him, I can't be sure.

This isn't so much a storyline issue, but I've always thought it was kind of strange that soldiers in a well-coordinated army like the Mursaat or Stone Summit will stand idly by while their comrades are being slaughtered, unless the fight comes within about fifty yards. Are they just that lazy? :\

There are 3 Bloodstone in here. 1 in maguma, 1 in the shouth shiverpeaks and 1 on the Ring of Fire.

so the 2 others should be somewhere else.

What really intreaguis me is those burning charr statues, they look like burning titan and the lich if you look them up close. mhm Did the lich give to the charr the power they needed to start the searing, a lot of speculation can be made, but only Anet knows, so I say next chapter OR, ANET, give us more insite on the story line, PLEASE.

And I'm serious, look I cap please.

The charr do worship the power of the flame, perhaps they...started the Flameseeker Prophecies? Such prophecies are too mysterious, we need some actual phrases from it. Also, what of the seer's race? Glint has had those eggs for thosuands of years, you think we'd have miniglints running around, unless there are miniglints running around (that become the bone dragons in some missions...?).

That may be a bit hard to manage, since it'd be like 4 "wintersdays". If it had a global effect, like over all areas in the game, that'd be ridiculous. Maybe in capital cities...

As for Rin - it's actually SOUTH of the wall, south of Nolani Acadamy. It's natural that the capital city is not necessarily the capital - Washington DC is not that big, for example.

Now why Nolani (or any of the other locations) are North of the wall is what I don't get.

As for Markis, you learn that he is behind the sinking of Evinea's ship in Sanctum Cay - That's revealed at the cut scene with the Visier (Who's already GOT a scepter of Orr before you give the one you've got to him - why does he need two?) half way through the mission.

To fill in the vizier-already-having-scepter plothole, ArenaNet will say...

"He's got a cheap imitation of it, and hoped it would be good enough to rule Tyria. Alas, it isn't good enough, and he has to spend time weaving his stupid liar identity to get the real thing."

Surmia's Academy is north of the wall, too. Makes me wonder why Stormcaller is there in the charr lands...unless it wasn't always there and magically went poof and appeared there. The charr could have broken down that door the entire time, like they do after we flee through the portal to Nolani. But I guess they don't think a horn that makes it rain on an already-lost city is worth being destroyed or stolen or anything.

OK, so you have the Lich, who wants the Scepter so he can raise and control the Titans. Then you have the Charr which also seem to worship the Titans (they fight together in the Last Days of Dawn quest).

The Lich wants to use the Charr to help raise the Titans. But it looks like the Titans can only be raised from the Fire Islands in the south. The Charr are from the north (I guess) and really, are just trying to get down to the Fire Islands to help raise them.

But Ascalon stands in the way with their Great Northern Wall. The Charr were stuck North of Ascalon and couldnt move south. So I think the Lich helped them destroy the wall and most of Ascalon. The Charr also tried to move south through Kryta (possibly to help find the Scepter ), but were defeated by the White Mantle.

The White Mantle worship the Unseen Gods, also known as the Murrsat. The Murrsat have a Flameseeker Prophecy that states a chosen one will release the Titans. The the Murrsat order the White Mantle to find the chosen ones and kill them. The only thing that can really defeat the Murrsat are the Titans. This is why there are tons of Murrsat and forts, etc on the Fire Islands - they are guarding the Titan front door thingy.

Anyways, we as the players are naive and stupid, like the Shining Blade. We see the White Mantle as evil (which in a case they are) and fight against them and the Murrsat. Meanwhile the Murrsat are just trying to stop us from releasing the Titans. We end up helping the Lich by getting him the Scepter and releasing the Titans. Then we're like oops , my bad and try to clean up the Titans.

Just my theory on the story.

this was weird but if you do the cutscene in nolani or the one with stormcaller and have prince rurik selected, and then have the cutscene cut-off at some point in the cutscene where rurik does the storm-caller thing, you should be able to see what it does actually.

p.s. if you arent able to do it stormcaller is a skill and it cuts the charrs health by 100

That all seems right. In truth, though, in the past, the charr attacked Orr. For the scepter, perhaps? But why? This was before the cataclysm, and before Khilbron became The Lich Lord. Unless the charr also know of the prophecies and had planned things accordingly (suicide attack into Arah so that Khilbron blows everyone up to continue the flow of events that are supposed to happen in the prophecy, lol). You are definitely right about the mursaat on the ring of fire islands. They are very well aware that, according to the prophecy, if the titans are unleashed, they're screwed. So, they erected these gates and fortresses to guard the Door of Komalie. Pre-searing does have that statue of a titan north of the wall, so the charr definitely worship them.

My idea on some bits:

Post-Searing Ascalon: The Charr are trying to get by Ascalon, either to conquer it or to simply make their way to Kryta for the scepter, or perhaps to aid the Lich Lord, like Drake said. After fooling around to stop them, and then we have stormcaller as a total ripoff, and the conflict between Rurik and Adelbern, we set off into the shiverpeaks.
---
Clearly, the main parts we are not truly sure of...

If the mantle and mursaat have any reason to attack us and the shining blade, and sacrifice the chosen other than to prevent the prophecy. Wtf was with that eye, also, as chosen, why were we not taken away with the other group to bloodstone fen? I remember the shining blade intervene...then again, I don't really remember if they capture us too or not. But we do end up in maguuma, so, perhaps. Glint, the seer, a few scribes (like Meerak), the mursaat, possibly the mantle, Lichie, and a few others know the full prophecy? We've still no idea as to the entire truth of these prophecies other than the entire titan and scepter scenario.

That just about covers it, except that if the mursaat would have been more up front about their role we would have saved everybody the trouble and went after the lich first.

For instance. Post searing, Mursaat comes floating by "n00bs, you are so pwned by the charr, you know why? The undead lich helped them because he wants to raise uber lvl monters down in the fire islands. Why don't we go down there and lay a beating on this lich!"

It's like Halo...instead of preventing the prophecy/activating the ring, they have the protagonist do it. Lazy bums.

The npc in Hell's Precipice outpost, when you ask what to do, he says "Catch that lich." Yeah, everybody knows you should "Go get the lousy lich for pete's sake instead of travelling all over Tyria switching alliances and junk." But then we wouldn't be going to many places, and Rurik might have never died, we'd have no idea how the stone summit are doing against the Deldrimor, plus we'd be lvl 7s or so and get pwnd at the ring of fire.

Of course, there's that cut-scene after you give the scepter to the Vizier and well before you find out he's the Lich, in which we see the Lich carrying it.

well actually if you watch the cut scene at the end of abbadon's mouth, you'll know that the Lich planned to take over the entire world, not just kill the mursaat. so you can see the mursaat and white mantle are actually just trying to save the world. they'd rather sacrifice the people they think are the chosen then have everyone killed, but the shining blade dont know about the titans and junk so they think the mantle are evil and try to stop them. although it is kinda weird that justicar hablion would talk in that evil voice and wish we had died in that cut scene in bloodstone fen before he even knew we were about the betray him

Theory 1: about the charr. we know they worship the titans. so they just did the weird ritual thing you see in the cut scene after the pre-post mission and the titans gave them the power to destroy ascalon. why? because the charr like to kill people...there doesnt have to be a complex and elaborated reason for everything you know

Theory 2: the lich knew part of the prophecy but not the whole thing. he didnt get the part where it says the flameseeker would die at the end but he did know the chosen come from ascalon and that in order for them to start on the path to freeing the titans, they must leave their homeland, and thus ascalon must be destroyed. so he gave the charr the power to create the searing.

Well, actually, more like nature vs. nature. Basically you've got two top predators, in this case humans and charr, competing for the same territory. Things escalated. Both sides have now tried their best to wipe each other out. Neither side is going to dare try to stop fighting now, because the winner is certainly going to annihilate the loser. Not much to hope for in that scenario.

Makes sense that the titans gave the charr the power to cause The Searing. I mean, perhaps they are aware of the prophecy as well? Thustly, the charr had to start the searing in order to destroy Ascalon, and later (Nolani's ending cutscene) drive the chosen out of Ascalon, so they'll begin their quest to get Lichie the scepter and open the door, etc...but the titans most likely gave them the power to destroy Ascalon in order to set the prophecy events in motion.

Didn't mean to flame the game and all, but just talk about the fact.

About the "Charr", well there is an NPC in the "Gates of Kryta".

Where she talk about “Charr” had attack three Human Kingdoms, which are Ascalon, Kryta, and one other. (Can’t remember the name…)

And that “Other Kingdom” fell first, and Kryta was on the edge getting destroyed. That when “Mursaat” come over organized “White Mantle” – (The new Kryta Military). And push “Charr” out of Kryta.

With that says, I would expect “Charr” is either Nature vs. Nature. Or a fault creation by the Lichie…lol

Anyway I will try to post the some screen shot, where that NPC talk about all this.

BTW very nice posts loved +).
