Okay, Firday I started up a female assassin named Dude Where's My Sword. She looked like somthing from Mortal Combat, but then she started running: freakin drunken gorrilla in heat. Anet please change the way female Assassins run, please

The normal running is NASTY (i agree that they look like crazy gorillas)... but their "boosted" running animation is AWESOME IMO. Anet should make Assassins run like that normaly and make them run like Tengu when "boosted" (i.e. using dash, or shadow step, etc..).

The sprint animation would look really wierd if you were moving more slowly, if anything, I think our normal run should be made similar the the Tengu run, since Tengu are running normal already when they do theirs.

I have no problems with their normal running(when running with weapons of course). I absolutely love their sprint, though. That's just charging head-long into battle.

Some thoughts I had on different running animations...
1)The run could be made more into a commando side stepping instead of a hunched over attack position..
2)They could make them run with their arms extended at their sides...
3) They could charge like Samurai do with their weapon sheethed, but that wouldn't work too well consider they have daggers and not katanas.
A combination of the three...
My key point is, IT MUST BE GRACEFUL, swaying from side to side, not bunglo bobbing head up and down. Assassins should make it look easy too, not like its an effort. Gracefulness + Hair swaying + One shoulder foward + Steady pace + not strained = Elements for a good running animation.
Also the way they hold daggers should be changed I'm all for right handed dagger with the blade pointing up and the left handed dagger with the blade pointing down, get some sick animations going with the blocking and counter.

completely agree with the dagger thing. holding both daggers pointing up just doesnt look right.

I must agree. Turn this thread into a petiton to change the normal Assassin movement animation. If this is more like a petition thread, Anet may pay more attention to it.
I personally liked the idea that was posted previously about having the assassins run like samurai with their weapons sheathed, 1 hand over the hilt of the weapon they're using, but not actually touching the weapon until they get into combat. (If they have daggers, they can have 1 hand over the hilt of 1 dagger, the other hand at their side, or slightly behind them.) I think that would look very cool.

I'm all for a petition, they're making a game we're gunna buy, they should listen to the community. The armor thread also has a bunch of key points, if these two became petitions then we could possibly make a difference.

The Assassin looks really dumb when running. Not a natural look at all. I get the idea that a PvE Assassin would develope a bad back by the time he/she reached level 20.
As far as people commenting on this stuff: Why do you think they came out with the preview? To test out the program to find and work out the bugs (Like what happened with Iron Mines) and to get fan feedback on the thing.

Yes, that's why people are posting their thoughts in the first place. ANet is certainly interested in knowing what "might/might not" put their customers off their future products before they come up with the final release. Developing a game without gauging fans' opinions at all is a pretty good way to go out of business.
It's certainly better to give them all the feedback we want to now rather than flooding the forums with "nerf this! nerf that! change that! fix this!" after the game is already out and people have already paid for it.
Honestly, stop babysitting people's feedback.

I dislike the way the female assasin runs (with and without weapons).
The "sprint" animation looks VERY good though.
I think they went for an overall "sneaking" approach thats why the assasin is hunched over and trying to stay low, however....this could have been done with a little more finesse and i think small adjustments (less bobbing up and down please) will make them more graceful.

Well nothing will happen unless people mention it. Someone had to point out that the ars runs like a big pile of flabby woof-woofs. The sprint is ok (imo), just incredibly derivitive.

I like the way they run. It's not only cool, it's very funny (when they roll too many times in a row, or when mine got bugged and kept just falling over). Once the animations are tweaked so the role is only on direction change and activation of a speed buff, it will be awesome.

Personally I doubt they would change it.
The reason they would put out preview of only those characters tell us that, they are done with that part of the game.
In my opinion base on that, it is highly possible that the animation will remain as it is.

If they change the way assassins run, I don't think they should completely overhaul it with a new one, if they do change it, I think they should just make little alterations to the one they already have.

Personally, I can't see why Anet can't give the Assassin femmes a stance/gait similar to the current femme Ranger and Warrior ones. The femme Ranger and Warrior both look confident, sturdy, ready for a fight, all without having to stand like they've got an unusually large tampon crammed between their thighs, much less running like a drunken hunchback.

I actually liked both Assassin running animations. However, the "normal" run cycle looked a little out-of-place in the towns, like they were charging around for a bathroom. Perhaps in-town they should run like everyone else, outside have the stealth run, and then the shadow run, of course.
Just a thought.
