Would you buy the second chapter to Guild Wars? I heard it costs 49.99 US$ in EBgames. The weekend was fun, but because of the cost i had second thoughts about buying it, please post comments

I'm game for it.
The promised new PvE material is roughly equivalent to most current $40-50 cRPGs. The PvP material is just as valuable as a $40-50 vs. game, especially with all the additionally PvP maps. So in truth its like buying 2 games in one. Considering no monthly fee, ANet will get my Ben Franklin.

The thing is, when you buy it, that's it for the spending. Although the weekend did nothing for me, from what I have seen of the next chapter I'll be getting it. Depending on the option to not participate in the factions malarkey and a decent amount of extra character slots of course.

As for the price, just like any game it's best to shop around and see where it's cheapest.

Of course not! $49.99 would be the biggest rip off in my life!! Who the hell would buy any game with $49.99!? If it ain't $60, I ain't buying!

Oops, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed... oh wait, was that the right side or the left side?

Sure I will. I'm not interested in the PvP, but I'm looking forward to the new PvE.

Of course, I mean no matter what I'd buy it because I love Guild Wars. Although I do hope they change a lot of the stuff as I've stated in previous threads...

I would have said yest to this Sunday but when I came in monday and found my PVP slots were locked since I had a Ritulist charracter there and If I delete I loose all the items she is carrying I am now not so sure. Support has basically said tough luck only if you pay for fraction are you getting your stuff back and maybe not then!

From Anet:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars Support. We can not change the character's classes nor retrieve any items that are in the character's packs. At this time the characters will remain locked and you can choose to leave them on your account until Guild Wars: Factions is released. At the present time it is planned that they will be unlocked for play upon purchase of Guild Wars: Factions, however please keep an eye on http://www.guildwars.com for any announcements regarding how these characters will work upon the release of the game. If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to contact us.

This seems sort Mafia like if I want those items back I gotta buy the Fractions pack or ELSE!

Yes, I will. No question about it. GW is and probably will ever be the cheapest game I've ever bought. I've paid about five cents per hour played. Well, I guess most other spare time activities can't really compete with that...

Guild Hall, Vent, Guesting, PvE, or the occasional HA match...

Dark Alley [dR]

Ill buy it but probably only to explore the area with current characters. I didnt like the assassin that much, but will probably build a ritualist, those seemed cool. I'll mainly buy it for the new content comming for my existing chars and new pvp areas

a few things, you knew what time the event was over, you didn't think it would be accesiable after the 48 hours do you? They told us an end time.
Check back to see if there is another event. More than likely there will be at least one more event. Also is it AN's fault you did not move your stuff before the weekend was over?

AN's support is way better than Blizzard or any other MMORPG out there. I have 2 accounts and plan on getting 2 expansions. I can't wait.

I'll get it, for the PvE mostly. The concepts about the explorable PvP world sounds promising too. But I'm done with the arena/tourney kind of thing.

Yup, going to buy it. Most expansions I've seen have ranged from 29.99 to 49.99. Since an awesome game like GW doesn't have a monthly fee, I can see why they would opt for the higher price. Gotta make money somewhere.

you are an ...............

you did not read a word beyond free weekend event.

it said in big black letters that after the weekend it would be locked down until purchase.

it took you a WEEKEND to get what you got.

you can get back your faction / unlocks in another weekend

ALSO

this is only the first of several events before release.

IF YOU PUT 100 PLAT AND ALL YOUR BEST GOODIES TO USE IT AS A MULE YOU CAN GET THEM BACK NEXT EVENT

Haven't decided yet. I'm waiting for the PvE weekend. I like the assassin class, but not enough to buy two copies of the game for myself and my husband. If there's sufficient new PvE content, and guild halls are improved, and we get more character slots, then I'll want it.

to answer main question

yes i will prepurchase as soon as the preorder packages are officially announced.

even if i hated chapter 2 i would get it to show support for Anet and maybe chapter 3 would blow me away.

i have gotten more fun from this game than any 2 prior games anyway

THATS A BIG YES

Yes, I will be buying the game, and the price does not bother me all that much. Anet describes this game as being stand alone, so you dont need to have the previous version in order to enjoy it, you just wont be able to access the lands of tyria...

I'm buying Factions, I hope that the people that buy Factions, aren't in the same world as the people that buy Fractions. Fractions sounds like its a noob math game, Factions is a Guild Wars game...

My friend might actually buy Factions just to have an Assassin. He's stayed away from Guild Wars so far.

If I remember correctly, Factions will have just about the same amount of PvE content as Prophecies. I don't know if they've decided to go a different path, but way back when ArenaNet said that each chapter would contain roughly the same amount of content as the initial release (instead of just adding a new map, or a new profession, it's essentially a 'new' game, except... not. You know what I mean.)

I haven't heard of them deciding that 'expansions' will contain significantly less content.

Yes, I will buy it.

Yes, I will buy it, but I have some questions.

It might cause some problems in guilds. Will the guild list show players who are online in GW1 and GW Factions, or just the game that the member viewing the list is in?
And if you upgrade to a new guild hall that comes with Factions, what for the guild members that didn't buy factions?

YES! definitely. In fact I've been looking round the shops today to see if any pre-order packages are available.... guess that was pointless since they haven't even announced the release date yet I really don't think anyone can justifiably claim it's overpriced. Go and play any subscription-based online RPG, and you will see how for £10 a month or however much it costs (more in many cases!) you get a level of support that is FAR inferior to what we get from ANET.

I agree, check out blizzards support, you will see the crap you get from them. Just try to get on a full server that you been on since day one and see if you can get on during peak times. I gave up on wow because of the 30 to 45 minute que times to get into the game. All they can tell me is to sign on earlier...

Yes, so what if it's $50. It's free online and only $50 a year to play it, assuming they will release new chapters every year.
