New form of laming in the new UW
William Stark
I have had people ask to do similar things in missions/quests we were doing, and it doesn't bother me, so long as they let you know in a polite manner.
The other factor might be how reasonable a break they were asking for- second half of level 3 would be within tolerances of what I would put up with, especially if the person had been a team player to that point. I have yet to see a team of 8 make it all the way to the end in the HoH UW anyway-at least one person's line has always dropped.

this happened to me once and we got all the way to The Darkness with a leecher just hanging around saying he couldnt move or just not talking or moving for ages. So when we fianlly killed them and he got a green drop (Victos Sword) he came literally running for it (with sprint and charge!) but we (7 of us) managed to form a human wall around it...
when he finally left after calling us mean things for about 30 mins.. we had a scissor paper rock grand tournament to determine who gets it.
was the best laugh i have had in ages.

Ha. There ya go, stick it to the sticklers.
It is very depressing when you get a person not pulling his weight.
However, just like real life (and more so) ther're jerks in GW, its even eaiser to be a jerk in GW since you are behind your computer. It sucks, it is annoying, but like life, it happens. Go on to the next run and you will be much happier in the end.

Item reservations should definatly go on for longer. When that time is up the reservation should differ to the guild that player is in. That way you would get no random pugs stealing your stuff and it would eliminate a lot of the problems mentioned.
A kickvote would be useful, maybe 6/8 for a kick? Yes, the system would be open for abuse but more or less so than the current situation?

One word: selfish. That's also why people do this kind of laming sadly (I'm not in the least bit surprised that there've been a good few reports of 55 SOLO monks doing stuff like this)
For the love of Balthazar please put in vote kick features soon Anet!

Add Kickvote to get rid of those kind of players. Add an Unclaimed Items window as well for the people after the kick.
Wait, add an Unclaimed Items window after UW2 as well while you're at it.
But it will still be abused though. Like 1-2 guys who get to join a guild group in UW2, and get kicked right before they get to "The Darkness"...I can see a lot of pissed off players. Unless players have a right to defend themselves, which would costs ANet a lot for people to monitor everything. In that case though, a Guild could recieve a bad rating (-xx on the Guild Ladder) or a temporary ban for the players who kicked. But that's really off topic here, so I'll just stop

In fact it is easy to kinda make it seem like you are doing something. Hell, just get something like Macromaker, and periodically cast a attunement and keep following the party. Maybe even throw a nuke from time to time. It is really no biggie. What we really need is Karma, a way for party members to leave feedback. AND have drops that depend on karma ratings. |
I still don't get why bother with the free ride though. I mean, eventually you will get something, or if it were I would just laugh it off and say never mind. If it's just items for cash I were after, I would go look else where. If it were an item I just had to have, I would just keep trying and trying till I got it. That's just me though and years of online gaming, I guess, has just made the games... just games. Nothing I take seriously and nothing to stress myself about.
If you keep going and really working with the groups, someone may notice you working hard at it and help you out more to get the item(s) you are after. Plus, as you do it more and more, you'll end up getting more invites and more popularity from others so your chances will increase just out of sheer numbers and times you go.
Plus, I have horrid luck on drops. Don't know why, but I always have and after years of this type of luck, it's really a joke to me. Broke and proud of it. /flex
That's just me though...
As for Green Items eventually being a free for all grab. ANet should make the Green Item vanish when the reservation times out. Would stop some of that non-sence and add further value to each member in the group as well as the item itself.

if you want green items without trying over and over.. go with your guild or people you know and trust. Form a small team and spend a long time talking about tactics. Then you wont have lamers leeching on your run and when you get to the end there is a high chance of a drop for you.
I did this with some ppl off my friends list and got Victos Axe and Maul on one of my first proper runs of the PvE tombs.

once again the kick function would be more harmful then helpful, people will exploit that thing to a point of ruining the game

Just make it so items still taged with a peson's name go to him after being kicked. It would also encourage people to play with others they know.
Skuld
This happened when I first started the Ring of Fire missions, that pissed me off like hell, i'd hate to think what i'd do if there was something with value in it xD

i would like to see drops only fall for people on the radar.. period. if they are not in the fight, they don't get the drops. then if this is instituted, have NO end until drops become available - EVER. if you have to be on screen/radar and drops NEVER go public--- these people will have NO drops to wait for and they will hopefully play and earn the good drops.
not sure if this is possible but if an item can ONLY be picked up by the player assigned, i think that would be a good and a fair thing. forget 10 minutes, 15, 30... make it a permanent drop for the player.

Now that they've got the mapping feature to the entire party, if you catch someone leeching, just map back to the outpost, kick the loser, and pick up a replacement. |

I've lost more greens to not being able to discern them from party members, more than from griefers, but that's just me.
Agreed. The vote-kick idea (possibly needing to be initiated by the party leader?) is a good one for sure, but all reserved items from the kicked person should be dropped from the game, to help avoid it being abused.
Sorry folks, but never PuG with an ubermonk unless you know him/her. I've met some decent folks playing 55s, but never had a good experience with one in a PuG.
Yes, or a permanent drop with a button to click to opt not to pick it up?

Get down there...2 55 monks went different directions, pulled tons of agro back to the group to get everyone killed, then farm up the place.
