No, every weapon that has x damage always has something bad about it.

Pretty sure +15% weapons are all with a catch, may it be 'while hexed', 'while in stance', 'while enhanced', '-5 energy' or whatever mod. Apparently there was a +15% 'always', but those don't drop anymore atleast.

While I've seen many items that were removed from the game - heck you can't go to LA 1 without seeing someone hawk an HOD sword - I have never seen a 15% always without a penalty.

I guess they still exist but - if they do - they are not traded on any sort of regular basis.

They dropped from bugged chests in one of the desert areas for a little while after release. If you can find one that isn't customised, expect to pay an insane amount of money for it.

Would you rather have a sword that is 15-22 damage or a sword that is 17-25 damage?

Neither have a negative penalty.

Any WEAPON with +15% always will have either; -1 energy regen. pip, -5 energy, or -10 armor while attacking. If any +15% weapons ever existed with out a negative side then good luck because chances are they won't be for sale anymore.

also, back in the early days, a zealous mod would overwrite the -1 nrg regen from the weaponmod, resulting in a "15% always" zealous weapon.

There is a screenshot, right here on these boards, showing a sword that is +14% always with no penalties whatsoever. It might show up in search. These weapons did exist, but were discontinued.

No, the HoD sword is a normal 15-21 damage sword with a permanent +5 energy modifier to it. That's it - no damage modifier at all.

What they are referring to is items that existed right after GuildWars was first issued a year (or more) ago. Those items were discontinued prospectively, but some items still exist from those that saved them from way back when.

Because they were eliminated prospectively right after Guild Wars was issued, there are probably less than 100 in existance that were not customized. That's why they are so dang expensive.

Post an unaltered screenshot of it, or let me see it in game. I'll pay you good money just to see it, and will pay you much more to buy it.

these 15% swords are well known, and do have negative conditions.
i myself only know of two unconditional 13% always swords and of one 15% always swords that are still floating around. They are worth millions.

When people refer to "always" nowadays, they usually mean the +15% plus a condition: -5 Energy, -10 armor (while attacking), Health regeneration -1, or Energy regeneration -1.

However, there are the "unconditional" ones too. Some were dropped at the game's release without any penalty. In addition, some early Energy regen -1s were bugged in that you could put a Zealous prefix on them and only one -1 would show. Both were fixed and are now collector's items. Relevant old link; yay my search is back!

Update: Just found a bow like that in the desert.

Damage 12-20 (req. 8)
Damage +10%
-1 Health Regen

LOL What a pile of junk... oh well, at least it converts into a pile of wood.

Low req = low damage. Don't buy any of Savio's less than common items, save up for a req 13 or so sickle. You'll actually feel the difference while you fight.

P.S. No wonder people question my knowledge when I lie with the same punctuation with which I tell the truth.

I didn't think it worked like that. I thought max dmg items with low req were the most sought after?

This is most certainly not true. You will deal the listed damage when you meet (or surpass) the requirement.

However, having more points in the related attribute (swordsmanship, for example) will obviously increase damage output. This is what you are confused with.

Thus, in both the situations below, you will be dealing the exact same damage:

* Wielding a 15-22 Req7 sword, and having attribute level 12 in swordsmanship
* Wielding a 15-22 Req11 sword, and having attribute level 12 in swordsmanship

IMO 15(-10 armor while attacking) is best conditional all the time mod. add a +5 armor pommel and its not that bad...if you are a war that is that concerned about defence...

yeah indeed i agree on that

* Wielding a 15-22 Req7 sword, and having attribute level 12 in swordsmanship
* Wielding a 15-22 Req11 sword, and having attribute level 12 in swordsmanship

very true.

I remember when the "Terror Shield" joke was big on this forum and I made a "Terror Hammer" thread with a horrible picture that I had edited with Paint. You (Savio) deleted it. I pm'd you and you said that my Terror Hammer Thread, while funny, could lead to a whole bunch of people looking for an item that didn't exist. I argued that the editing job on the pic was so horrible, no one in their right mind could possibly believe it existed. Your quote is confusing some very impressionable people.

Just to clear this up, the Sickle that is shown above is a joke, people... just a joke. Now please excuse me while I go change the turn-signal fluid in my car...
