Anti-jerk: whats the nicest thing someone has done for you

Its good to see people still "Pay it forward"
Well when I was new to this game in December 7th 2005 I played mostly alone to learn the game and get a feel for it. Doing all quests and missions along the way I finaly made it to the desert and had a time trying to get past Thirsty River with other pugs. (Agro control and lack of damage before the respawn) Well a guy that helped before mission or two that told me of a few skills that I should look forward to was on my friends list sends me a pm asking if I would help him help a friend at a mission I already finished so I backed up and joined them and we made some good time doing the missions and bonus and then made it to the mission I was having problems getting past so we three join a balanced pug group try it three times and fail because another warrior over agroed or another in the party wasnt listening to my buddy on how to pass this mission. Well after the fourth time in the same group they finaly listen to him and all of us do it by the numbers and we finished it. I then talk to these two alot after that we ascended together and became fast friend and I even joined their guild and have been in the same guild sense.
In return of all that I try to do my best to help any new player and answer any questions I see and if I dont have time to answer them I point them to here or wiki.

I've had many people do many nice things for me in the game but the one that sticks out is some random player in shing jea monastery gave my new level 2 assasin a set of Daggers of Xuekao for free. I didn't realize till later just how good they were. I've made it a point since then to visit low level areas and give away good stuff I can't use.
McMullen
One thing that sticks in my mind was when i was doing a quest in Shing Jea and was looking for a group, some level 20 warrior invited himself so we took henchies and annihilated a ton of crimson skull in a blind rage. I went to offer him 1k for his trouble but he refused and tried to give me 5k.
I didn't accept it but it's still a heck of a nice thing to do.

I give free runs from Ascalon the Sanctum but as to this date no one has ever done somthing like that for me

icedragon981
Well, Everybody in my guild knows that I'm not a big fan of taking things for free (I honestly don't know if it's pride or guilt of not paying them back...) but man, are they great people. I've been in this same guild for almost 9 months now and have made some VERY good friends. For instance, about a week ago my guild leader gave me and another officer both 55k to recruit/buy skills/etc. Later, after depleting my supply of FoW keys and CCs, the officer mentioned above gave me a lot of keys and CCs for free, as we've been doing a lot of FoW runs with our alliance lately.
Anyway, yes, people can really surprise you at times. I normally hero/hench to avoid non-guild/alliance people who, most of the time, piss me off in some way, shape, or form but there always those random strangers that are constantly filling my friends list.
As for myself, I'm not the most kind-hearted person but back when I W/Mo vermin farmed, every time Shreader's Talons dropped, I'd find a newbie assassin in Shing Jea Monastery to give them too. (Not the greatest daggers, I know but I still felt I was being kind.) Then there's the occasional helping guild/alliance members through quests/mission and such but I'm not sure if that counts. >.>

My turn:
I remember that I hooked up with 2 higher level guys in Asc City and did several quests with them soon after coming out of pre-sear with my first and still main warrior toon (I was level 8 or 9 and I think they were level 15 or 16).
I had to leave the group later on after several for me "hard" quests given the time difference (I was in Australia they were in UK) and, as I was saying goodbye and thanking them for showing a noob around and helping, I was adding them both to my friends list when one of the guys (he was a warrior) offered to trade with me.
I said I had little if anything to trade when he gave me for free a barbed shadow sword of shelter and a magmas shield. Wow! I was stoked. I still have both of them to this day on my warrior. IMO they rock!
I will always remember this generous act of kindness and I always try to repay junior members of the GW society with free weapons, items, runes etc. post mission or quest.
One thing I will not do, however, is give people money...they should be made to earn money IMHO. But, surplus golds and purples etc I always try to give away if I dont need them.
I recently got a mate of mine to purchase NF and I travelled my Tyrian across to Elona and gave him his entire starting warrior weapon/shield kit (including runes) soon after he created his toon. I also try to do quests with him to help him level up (although Elona is IMO ridiculously easy to level up when compared to Tyria).

umm a couple of things is(theres alot but i post them all
When I first started playing gw .. I had no idea what to do and a random person took me everywhere showed me everything and even went to post with me a couple of days later.
Another time was i was just standing in borlis pass waiting for some people to help me and a guy open trade with me and gave me 5 golds 1 green, money, and some dyes all for free.
Then... another person was not gonna play gw as much so he gave me 50k 10 greens and some golds.. I was shocked!

The person I want to comment on is probably the one person that SHOULD be nice to me, my hubby. He got me the game for Christmas, and let me start on my own - then he found out that I missed a whole bunch of presearing quests and went post searing waaaay to early. He had me delete that character and since he had an open slot, created a new character to show me the ropes. When we went post searing, he gave me 80 iron ingots (more than I needed to outfit all my chars), enough fur patches for armor, and about 1.5k in order to get armor on my warrior. He doesn't have a lot of time to give me, because he's beta testing a game right now, but when he's on, we get a lot done. This is my first experience with this type of game, and his help has been invaluable, even when he's not actually on. If he's in the room when I'm playing, and I need to know how to get somewhere, or how to beat a particular area, he'll stop what he's doing (unless he's in group) and come over and let me know what I need to know.
Like I said, it's someone that SHOULD be willing to give that kind of help, but it means a lot to me, especially in the areas that I have no clue how to approach, and he has experience with these types of games, and I don't.

Recently I gave a friend a Stygian Scythe that dropped for me because I do not use my dervish (mule), a couple of days later he gave me a req 10 max Dead Sword.
That is just recently, I and most of the people I know play by a simple rule, if I have something I am not going to use or need and someone on my f-list, guild, alliance does, it is theirs.

Probably the guy who I was with one day in Foundry. I was playign a BIP necro and I managed to keep the whole team constantly BIPed without dying. The guy kept telling me I was doign great and even offered to invite me to his guild.
But back when the game first came out the guy I was with for the Adventure with an Ally quest gave me some random items he found.

everytime a new campaign comes out we get more jerks on the game. ive really never had anyone do something nice to me. ive helped others, usually ending in someone yelling at me. the internet is so fun isnt it?
WinterSnowblind
I don't think anyone has ever done anything particulary nice for me, but then again I tend to avoid communicating with most people. I have met a lot of jerks online though, within my first week I bought a fiery dragon sword, failing to realise it was customised. Yeah, it was my own fault, but I was new and didn't understand these things.
People like that really annoy me, so I try and help out whenever I can, I usually respond to someone when they're asking questions and every else is just saying "lol noob". And I usually give away dyes or items if people are asking for them. Of course I'd never give away something that would be worth a lot of money, but if someone needs a blue dye, I'd feel better just by giving it to them, rather than making a few measly gold.

might be some random person doing several missions for me free of charge. also my guildie xenrath ran me thru all the desert free of charge.
I asked for 50g once to open a storage account and someone gave em about 2k for free. then they asked for me to join there guild so they may of been bribing me.

i was monking in fow once with some guildies and randoms, and the other monk (random) complimented me and randomly gave me all her dropped shards and three monk greens - just cause she wasnt playing that much anymore...

I rarely accept free loots, but I almost always give stuff away to guildies/friends. Now that I've pretty well quit playing people just seem to want to be vultures, though.
Back in the day I asked a guildie if I could see their Chaos Axe for dye, and he gave me a free one telling me to check dyes myself. I'm not sure if I still have it, but it stuck with me for awhile. I was proud of it, even if it wasn't truly "Mine".

I had something like this but it didn;t involve money. It was when I was getting a run to Drok's. There was this player who decided to try a scam and said at Snakes Dance (the usual first payment point) "OMG I LEFT MY MONEY IN STORAGE!!! If you take me to Rankor I'll pay you double." Yeah freaking right >.> So the runner decided to stop running and sits there until the person leaves. I would of done he same. Then someone in our pary says "I'll be for the dumb***"" The runner takes the money and tells the scammer to remeber to pay him double like he promised. We get to Rankor and the scammer goes LATER BEYOTCH!!! and logs off. Now the runner not worried about the 1k he'd be losing says "Good riddance" but that wasn't the only thing. He gave the first payment bac to the person who payed for the scammer.
I thought that was pretty cool and totally anti-jerk.

Nobody has really done many nice things for me, but I try to help out people in pre when I can, like giving away spare bear pelts or other quest items that I've picked up along the way. I spent an hour trying to give away eight aloe roots (for the Aidan ranger quest) but had to call it quits when I still had two left. Sad thing is people seem to expect to have to pay for them.
And when someone is offering money for somebody to open the gate and then leave, I quite enjoy saying to them, "I'll do it for free". Partly out of respect for someone who has the patience to try to get to level 20, and partly to stop people making a quick buck.

i ran from ascalon to the henge of denravi plus sanctum cay (i was exploring for my title) so i brought some people along right? when i get to the end, one of the people was so impressed, he wanted to pay me roughly 30k. I was new to the game, and hadnt seen that much money before (obviously a long time ago :P) but because i was exploring, i declined it. The guy then proceded to invite me into his guild, where i met the best people i have ever known in my life, and helped me through so much.
Point is, i like the people that try to pay a lot more than a run is worth, just because you do it for free. theyre rare to find.

A guildie and I went on a run from Ascalon to Yak's Bend, but we had such a giggle with the runner and another guy in the party that nobody wanted to leave once we'd arrived. The run continued through to Sanctum Cay then around the desert - all for free. We added each other to our friends list, and over a year later I still remember it as being one of the best (if unconventional) groups I've ever been in.
Some random person in Droks partied my lvl 12 monk (I was just stood there idling), and proceeded to powerlevel her to 20 for free. He'd just mastered the 55 build (before the AI update) and just wanted to show someone; as well as a lvl 20 monk I also learned how to 55 for myself.

When I pay trips to UW or FoW, I often say when we end there: "125 gold shares appreciated". Thanks to all of those who pay, not for the money, but because you're nice people.
When in Pre-Searing, I sometimes ask people if they need Accros the Wall or if someone would come Charr hunting. A couple of times I've been just helped inside the wall and and told "good hunting". That was friendly. Yes, I know a lot of people have permanent characters in Pre-Searing and have everything done in there, and so have time and will to help other people. One of the things that makes Pre-Searing so nice place.
My special thanks go to my old (ex guild)mates in the game, who always have time to meet me and help transferring items from an account to another. Also when there are game events, we message each others to give advices. Thanks Perkele, Frozen and EVA!
I have an abysmal luck with green drops. And I have really nice and helpful friends from another guild (now allied with them). When we had a green drop event in Cantha and I didn't get Wing to drop his Axe despite farming him all day, a person from this guild joined me, and what do you know, the axe drop for her on our second attempt. So she gave it to me. Thanks Ymoto, you're a gem! Not just for giving it, but for helping.

I was helping a person with a new character and added him to my friends list.
The next day he returned and gave me 3 green items. I asked him what he wanted for them and he said just to help him when I could. I now do just that whenever he asks.

I help people out when I can (free items, runs, and general advice < not like I would charge for advice but yea). I don't think any one has done anything nice for me since I started playing lol.
:edit: I take that back a person in my guild sold me some gold for cheap because I needed weapons for my heroes.

But even though i wasnt capping a lured t mob one at a time then rezzed the others and got them there skill

I'm a Godly healer as my friends put it, and I'm often thanked for being in peoples groups. And no, I barely talk about my healing, but I figured I'd tell you guys about it. So I often get compliments about that.
I'm usually nice to people, like I give people free stuff, like golds. Sometimes I'm drunk when I do that... but other times it's just that they need it.
Actually one time I gave someone a runic hammer req 8 10/10 furious armor +5 15%^50 which someone then turned and spammed it on trade with WTS.
So I stopped giving things out for free.

Well, i have a couple more mentions for 'anti-jerk' awards. These two players totally blew me away with their generousity and kindness after actually reading this thread.
They both gave me a load of free dyes to help towards my personal goal of getting a pile to 250 and i may now even achieve it
So a big thanks guys...

I've had a number of people do really nice things for me.
When I first began playing, a guy from Norway teamed up with me to get the rez signet. Once we had it, I asked him how he managed to get the speech bubble above his head. (Yep, I was really new...) He then spent a good bit of time with me showing how a lot of basic things are done. That was just great.
Though I normally try to avoid playing with people (my jerk quotient is very low, unfortunately) I have played in groups that worked well together and put some of the players on my friends list. One of them was so concerned about my armour that he ran me to Beacon's Perch (yes, this was my first character and I was still new, but not as new as above) and then gave me 2k to get to Droks even though I had enough money to pay for the run. He said it was his idea and he would pay for it.
Just recently, someone spent about half an hour explaining to me how Domain of Anguish works, an area I've been reluctant to explore because of the huge anti-n00b feeling. He even took me out and explained the build and the function of the pet... everything.
So to all the friendly helpful people out there, thanks! You've certainly made me aware of how important it is, and I try to follow your example.

This past Saturday I'm in Ascalon with my new lvl8 Warrior. A lvl20 standing next to the xulani says in local chat, Free Fiery Dragon Sword to any low level Warrior. I'm like, okay, I'll bite...
Turned out to be the real deal. I asked him why he was doing this and his response was he just wanted to help a new character out and that he had much better weapons already. Definitely my "lucky weekend".

The two best things that have happened to me lately, are both from guildies.
First, I was satin in our Gh talking to some people in GC when randomly two of them come to the GH, one gives the other a gold r9 deadsword for free i think it was. Then turns to me and offers me a r10 one, i was like
thanks!
And shortly after that i was in search of a perfect gloom shield and i was asking in the guild. One of my guildies said he had a r9 tact fully modded but couldnt sell for less than 100+ around 8-10. Me having only 150k cash asked him if that was enough, he comes out with just 'cos i love you <3
