.. another "monk awareness" thread.

Well, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this (I'm too lazy to read every post in this thread), but I sometimes feel for the warrior. I run with a warrior and monk so I see both sides pretty much. Anyway, what I wanted to say is that I don't always feel that a warrior aggroing too much stuff is always entirely his fault. I sometimes get angry with casters using AoE spells because when a warrior is in there hacking away at stuff and an elementalist or what have you casts AoE spells then the warrior will automatically pursuit enemy when they run and that often will pull in more enemy unless the warrior is paying attention and stops pursuit. So, yes ultimately the warrior is directly responsible for not being careful and pursuing, but casters (IMO) can be indirectly and partially responsible for this too. And then the casters will bitch about the aggro. It's easy to bitch when you have the luxury of standing in back of the group casting AoE stuff.

Ask yourself some questions: Is there Any Warrior's awareness Thread? Is this forum full of Mesmer's awareness thread? |

Monks take alota junk no mater where you are or what you are doing. Its rare to find a group of real MATURE players who wont blame the monk 1st thing.

FoW: I had a warrior that carried mostly attack skills that kept attacking through SS and dying try to tell me that it was my fault for not healing him. (He also dropped the tome from time to time so he could help "kill stuff")
SF: A warrior that died as a result of a bad aggro during an FA run told me that everything would have been fine if the monks did their jobs. The warrior carried two stances and healing sig with him, the rest were attack skills that he used in GF.
Both of these tanks, our group had requested specific skills to make the jobs easier for the monks and of course the requests were ignored. A lot of people don't seem to understand the concept of teamwork. There's a limited number of skills that the team can bring along for the ride, why not make it so that the entire team can work in harmony together?

I've posted here before, but maybe i hit some lag. I both sign and unsign this issue, and i will explain why. Yes, monk's are usually under valued and unappreciated but like mentioned, why do you care what a bunch of 12 year old kids with lvl 20 w/mo's care about your job? You know what your doing, they dont; that is what truly makes me feel good. But monks do have the hard job, and instead of yelling at them like it's their fault the party lost thunderhead keep, try and make strategies that involve more teamwork and less casualties. I have both a warrior and a monk. I made the former as my primary char for money making, i made the latter to have some fun, not to be praised like jesus. "Hey look, it's Thor's Monk! He's such an uber and pro healer!!!Lets all dance around him and offer him gold peices!!". I am there to help out my community. If they dont choose appreciate me, fine. I'll move on with my life. If they do, i'll thank them. Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't expect praise (apart from a general good spirited back slapping for the whole party when things are done well), it's only the 'first one to blame' syndrome that gets on my nerves. Particularly if it continues after I explain exactly why things went sour.

As a Warrior and newbie, I feel that I must point out that not all warriors and newbies don't understand that a monk needs to regen and cant heal everybody at all times. All I try to do is not to wonder off too far, wait when the monk asks for it, or calls his/her energy and have faith in my monk, I only pay attention to my healthbar to see if I need to activate my Troll ungent, just in case the monk is really to busy with something that's more important then healing me (healing somebody in worse shape then me, regenergating, ressing, stuff like that).
I appreciate monks and am very glad I'm not one.

i have never played a monk but i feel with you monks.
I do not agree with the statement the monk is there to keep you alive. This only true for tanking warriors who have to block off casters. Casters however should take care of themselves ! They should know that they have other life savers: dodging, getting out of danger, keeping distance and very important the blocking warrior. Every time a caster is stupid enough to get into harms way and almost die he is taking away monk healing power from the warrior who has no choice other then to be in the damage zone. Accidents happen and then it is nice to have a monk heal you.
I play ele and mesmer mostly and i have never died for other reason then my own carelessness...finishing that on espell before moving, staying because the enemie is almost dead....stupid things like that. Never have i been able to honestly blame the monk !
