If someone thinks that sundering is "T3H UB3R MOD" then let them, Why should we be bothered?
Until some boffin gets his calculator out and tries to blind us all with science about how % of that does'nt does'nt compare with % of this.

Well ah'll stick with me worst mod for the time being. I pretty much agree with the direction on questioning this, if its not sundering, what would you rather take?

If you go got other fancy stuff, lighting, fire, I hear from a Nerco player that, it will cancel out some of the advantages that a spell caster, or a buffer could provide to you.

The only other two for me are, posion and vamp strings.

Both of which are not really considered as an all round suited bow string, even if I pushed to support a posion string, compare with the possibile extra damage in one shot with the sundering, I would rather take the sundering instead.

So that really leaves me the chioce between the sundering and vamp, and vamp would not be the main bow I am carrying because of the health draining effect.

Best looking skin for me its the Elyth's whatsherface Bows.

are u talking about an Orders Necro? well of course you can't use an Ele string if you have one in ur group... as orders only affects physical dmg...

my main string is a vamp... i usually always use either TF or Frenzy depending on my build... i have a Zealous on my Horn for Barrage... 4 Ascalon Bows each having a different Ele string on it (Fiery, Icy, Shocking, Ebon) for when i attack physically stacked players... Sundering really has no use imo

I just won an auction on a +15%^50 storm bow that I'm going to add a +30 grip to. I'm not sure if I'm going to make it sundering or vampiric though...

There was a thread in the warrior forum about sundering mods....they don't really add much damage, compared to Vampiric

Not sure how good or bad that is, or what that translates too, but seeing how 40 armor is an increase of 100%->200% damage against a wariror with 96 AL (armor+shield) it would be 0.96 armor pentrated it's a ~2% increase in damage.

with a 22 max damage.. 0.22 damage extra won't even give a full point extra (on average). When it does trigger it will do about 2.2 damage extra, but that's only against warriors. This was figured for a sword, but asuming it's a max short bow:

Max damage of 28 and refire rate of 2 seconds = .28 extra damage every attack, so .14 dps more.

Looking at in from a spike:

2.8 extra damage on triggering.

Vampiric is much better:

+5 damage every 2 seconds...or 2.5 extra dps.

Assuming perfect conditions, and that everything lands of course.

1. Vampiric short bow
2. Zealous half moon
3. Sundering composite
4. Poisoner's longbow

The bows either have a Defense or a Shelter bow grip.

I look forward to the day when I get a nice bow from Tombs or SF.

As I am learning and playing, I now have the following collection:

1: Sundering Ascalon (got from collector then added string and costumed).
2: Elswyth's Recurve.

3: Elswyth's Longbow (which i dont really use, the reason being for its slow flight time, and I find it rare that I be using FW and posion at the same time)
4: Deago's Flat Bow (which I rarely use also, expect in a barrage group where FW is oftern porvided, in which you can take full advantage of the rate of fire and long range.)

The flat bow is beautiful for its rate of fireing at 2.0, which is same as the short bow, and, the range is the longest which is 85. However, the flight time is the longest (slowest) there is possibile, from my experience, even when the target is moving a little, it will usually miss at a long range.

To over come this, many use FW to make the arrow travel faster.

The composite bow however, has only the range of 70, which is the second longest range, and the firing rate is 2.4, wich is the second fastest, but however, the flight time is .5, which is the fastest, making your chance to miss your target greatly reduced.

For me, I dont always bring FW or RtW with me, making more certain that my shot will hit, in exchange of 15 range, and .4 firing rate, making it a very fliexable bow.

So as you read the above posts I have made, my main two bows are composite or of the same status for this reason. OF course this could change as I become more advance with my play style and knowlege.

I did end up using a Vamp string after all and use the bow in ToPK barrage/pet farming. Now I'm just shopping for a good horn bow to use in a GvG spike build...

I think it was also pointed out on another thread that using Flat/Short bows with barrage actually slow down your attack rate, because you have to break animation in order to use barrage again. Horn bows (with Armor Pen) are actually looking better for a barrage group, because the refire rate doesn't hurt you when you're spamming Barrage.

i really like my bows. yes, i know the first two aren't maxed. but think of it this way: i bought 3 bows that i can use for the entire game, for half the price of 1 green bow.

all hail guru auction!

anyways, i personally tends to avoid flatbows in general. the faster attack speed is not really noticeable and not really needed. i generally use a shortbow/halfmoon bow, a longbow, and a recurve bow. with these three, i'm set for just about every situation.

However, my reason in supporting the deago to be the barrage bow is selfishly subjective, it is because a lot of my play style.

I allow my pet to die which become the oppoturnity for the nerco to create fiends, upon the pet's death, there is a cool down time where I could not use skills such as the barrage.

I highly dislike this period of time as I feel rather useless, so a faster fire rate provides some satifaction for my wait, even thou it might not be a long time of differience to some, but knowing that I am shooting the fastest rate I can support the reason above.

So thats why I picked the flat bow for my barrage group.

Please mind the spellings and things.

i'm using the 15>50 collector shortbow from the desert, modified with shocking string and def upgrade. I don't see the point in getting a green bow personally, i think this collector bow customised does huge dmg. Not having a unique-skinned and named weapon dosent bother me, all i care is that it functions well.

Vampiric Shortbow of Defense (5/1 and 5)
