Grawl mesmer gear is easy, very often get it from the Grawl Mesmer boss outside of Sardelac.
It could be armor from something in Factions. They have been droping eerie staves and rods, so it would make sense that it is possible to find armor from Chapter 2.

Those chests drop everything that can be dropped, quite simple. And if no monsters can drop the item, the chest can, just like the Hall of Heroes chest.

My guess is these are chapter 2 items, have you gotten glowing rods or eerie staffs yet from stongboxes? same thing, so I would suspect we have not seen the last of the jade armors, and we are gonna be fighting soem armored phantasms in the following chapters.

Phantasmal armor has been around since the paperback player's guide was released, which makes it nearly ancient. Nothing's known to drop it, although it was probably designed to drop off of phantom creatures (Banshees etc...). The guide says it expert salvages into ectoplasm (rare) but I have no idea about the validity of that--I've gotten a few and no successful rare salvages.

Not an armor but a weird drop today none the less...in Dread's on the way to the chests...first one drop ever...and from griffs no less

Out of all the monstrous rares, I have never gotten an eye before. I've seen phantasmal armors drop from the FoW chests before.

Chests have always had a chance to drop armors that were cut form the actual monster they reference.
I've heard of all of these kinds of armors dropping in Favor-area chests and.or HoH winning chest before.
It isn't some Pre-Factions release treat, unless they've been planning factions since Cp1's release.

well actually, according to the latest interview with Jeff Strain on his euro tour...
factions has been in development since the release of prophecies, and CH3 has been in development since november '05.
this is so they can release one every 6 months but still have a years development on each chapter.

Which chest? The Dreadnaught Drifts/Ice Floe chests were removed March 02. UW chests are, well, in UW. HoH is similarly in HoH.

Well as savio said, the chests were removed. Your only chance of getting this armor is out of a HoH chest.

OMG... the build is on the first page of the monk forums. Ubermancer's DD farming build. Not my build, it's ubermancer's.

I never got the point of solo farming the way to the chests. I could solo run the Lost Strongbox in DD and I also found a way to make sure the Tundra Giants didnt block the path when I went up to get the frozen chest. I got loads of Jade Gorgets and Pauldrens, and some other weird stuff but it was all sent to the merchant.

Maybe a mesmer casted conjure phantasms and it came alive but its armour fell into the chest :P

Well basically you can solo farm the whole way to DD with ubermancer's build. Each run all the way to DD, killing everything (except for those damn heretics) takes about 1 hr. Nice drops, and MANY trolls and giants just waiting to get slaughtered there...
