New FoW Armor?
Lucifer PVP
So as of right now the only rare crafting materials that can't be crafted are rubies saphires and the three monster items. I think Anet is giving us the wrong impression about rubies and saphires, they will be used for something but not what most people hope, sort of a gold sink for people to lose some money. Why would they want people hording these items allowing the rich to stay rich and not allowing for people to work for it. Maybe a price reset at the begining of the new expansion or maybe another item will be used for the elite rare armor.
My hope is monster items 300-600 of each

i hope it'll be FOW armor for assasin and ritualist - if i can bring chars from ch1 to ch2 and play assasin or ritualis in FOW, do all quests i'd like to have an option to craft armor there as well, its only fair
Allanon Dark
Yeah, there will definetly be new FoW armor types, though they won't neccesarilly be called that. There will be new gods so the new FoW equivalent God will more than likely hold the crafter. The new Ectos and Shards will (I really hope so, been stocking up on em) be Rubys and Sapphires.
ON a side note. While this rumor was started a while ago, i was wondering if anyone has put this rumor down or if it is just in the back of our heads. A while ago someone mentioned that anyone who owns FoW armor will have the skin changed on them (either optionally or not) to the correstponding name. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
Oh, and does anyone know if they plan to do anything with the other Gods currently residing in ToA. THe devs said they would but never delivered.

Jewel customization... very d2 I'd quite like sapphires on my FoW gear. |

my bet:
fow-like place in factions that drops new rare crafting materials, fow-like armor crafter that craft good looking armors using those crafting materials. armors will be different then fow armors and as around the same price target.
this is to avoid anyone from the first gw invade factions with the storage full of ectos to get the new uber-looking armor in a couple of days.
they don't want all the new content to be discovered in 48 hours... so no ectos and shards used in factions, that's my bet.
necklaces and rings will be introduced, requiring rubies/sapphires to be crafted. don't think they'll be armor upgrades, just jewels to wear when u like, probably without any bonus in stats, life etc.

while rubys, saphires and other materials have been confirmed to play a bigger part...i doubt very much if ANet would want people to get the new "uber" armour in a matter of days. If it cost the same as FoW and required near enough the same amount of ecto/shards but had a few new materials in there still would be no point.
If new "FoW" armour is to be introduced new materials will probably craft it. If this was not the case new "FoW" armour would be too common...the normal Factions armour would probably be rarer

i second that, there is already an avatar of dwayna so why not use it? and i still think monks should be able to use a sort of form to farm those places, i mean, monks are busy the whole just healing or protecting, i think a possibility should be there to enjoy that places to make money!

I can only see new Obsibian armor being released for the two new professions. That's the only thing that I can see happening as far as Obsidian armor is concerned.

You knew Factions was coming up, but you blew your money anyway. I think it's more of a personal problem.
I think Factions will come out with an armor equivalent to fissure. I hope so, something else for me to save for.

You guys have realized that our gold will not carry over right? Think about it, that would give people such a huge unfair advantage at the opening of the game.
"It's a new country, so that means there is a new system of gold."
For all we know, they trade Sapphires, Rubies and Jade as their currency rather then Gold.

As someone else mentioned, by your logic, I wont be able to bring any of my high end weapons to Factions because they will be unbalanced, to begin with. To take it a step further, why am I allowed to bring all my money to Ascalon where all the low level characters are, doesn't that unbalance the game for them?

Here is the FAQ from GW website on item carryover :
Will I be able to take my existing characters in the new areas of the world? Do they keep their items, their levels, etc?
If you purchase Factions, you will be able to travel to the new land, Cantha, with your Ascended characters from Guild Wars (original Prophecies campaign). Inventory items, skills, and other possessions and attainments from Guild Wars remain yours and remain useable within Guild Wars Factions.
Where they will be allowed into Factions at is a mystery, but at a high level somewhere, I want to know if the new Factions armor will need any shards or are shards only for chapter one FoW armor?? I would bet the new chapter will have some nice looking armor or the uber-farmers will be mad and will anyone really want to spend 1 mil on a Crystalline sword only to find out there is a super-cool Tachi out there somewhere!!!

While most of us may speculate that the Canthan economy is similar to our own we can not be 100% sure of this. His idea of the Canthan economy being based on the value of Jade is a perfectly reasonable idea. Gold is not neccisarilly the most important thing to Canthans, as such their economy may not reflect our Tyrian Gold Standard economy.
While I was flipping through GuildWiki I was reading up on the recent game updates and thought to look at the Factions page and see if anything new had come up. Sure enough, something new (for me) had come up. I saw the name Jade Quarrys and started to read the hyperlinked page. While reading I saw this place as new and kind of similar to RFO (Rising Force Online) system of Mine Wars. The 3 Jade Quarrys in the Canthan continent are always up for grabs by the warring factions and as such the access you are allowed to them may be limited. I also discovered that the Jade inside the Quarrys is quite valuable as well. It may hold perfectly preserved creatures (mayber where we get our monstorous fangs and eyes) from the past or long lost secrets. With this information I began to wonder whether the Canthan people would use this as their prefered currencey. It seems a plausible idea. Why not have the Canthans use their Jade as a source on money, afterall, it holds some of their most precious items in itself.
With it (Jade) being a source of money and a conquerable area (the Jade Quarry) could add a since of depth to the game as well. The holder of the mines could then control the economy of Cantha to a certain degree and if (just a suspicion) they become the new FoW and UW then controlling them could become a matter of upmost importance to a Faction trying to survive a war. If they do not become the new FoW or UW (likely) then the things that may be farmed there may be the rare crafting material required (Jade Shards anyone) for the "New FoW".
Someone earlier mentioned the use of Rubys and Sapphires as materials for Jewlery for our Chars to wear. While I think this is a good idea and may just possibly be implemented, I do not however agree with them as just being eye candy. If I am going to spend my time and effort to craft something out of my precious jems and the other crafting material required to make that Jewel then I will want some sort of benefit from it. It does not have to be some sort of uber godly kind of thing, just a little incentive other than the eye candy factor.
Just my LONG 2 cents...
EDIT: (forgot to mention the currency exchage)--Upon reaching the new lands of Cantha, our Tyrian characters would have to travel to a Currency exchage NPC. The function of this NPC is pretty basic, exchange your current amount of gold for jade. Now, this feature would have a tax,oh say, 50 gold. Hey, the Canthan government has to make its money somewhere.

Hello, i'm currently planning on getting FoW armour for my ele - because I like the looks. However, with the release of factions, they are imlpementing a new armour set with a health bonus - but I don't really like the look that armour set. Anyone know if they'll have a FoW version of it, so I can have my preferred stats on my armour and the looks? =/
And yes - a bit of trouble accessing the site, many people are online at the moment.

Most of you don't really see where I'm coming from do you?
Why should we be allowed to carry over our gold to instantly buy the best armor we can?? Because you worked for it in a different contenent? No. Because that gold belongs to Tyria, not Cantha. So work for Canthian gold now like you did Tyrian.
Just as I believe our weapons will not be carried over, tho I suspect few basic ones will. We know that they've allowed us to carry our characters over to Faction from Prophecy, so I know it's easy to presume we're going to be able to carry over our 15+ Dmg -5 Energy blabhalbhablah Crystalline Swords over, but I'm guessing we wont for the unfair advantage. And to the remark about having max golds in Old Ascalon, that's because it's in that content, that game. It's not a new world for that happens all the time in all the places, just like it will in Cantha. Having so much gold in Ascalon is not an arguement.
I'm betting we're going to have to re-earn our Coreskills in Cantha, along with our new ones. So stop thinking we're going to be able to carry over everything you see with your character, cause I bet we're going to be set to Lv. 1 in Cantha, while still being our max and best in Tyria.
Your character will be carried over, but he will be in a new land. He will need to learn their system of gold, what weapons they use, the spells they have, everything. Kiss it all good bye as you step into Cantha, because your not in Tyria anymore Dorthoy, your in a new world.
And thank you Allanon, I do believe Jades (maybe a few colors of it, each representing a Faction) will be most valued in Cantha, even over petty gold. I'm glad someone thinks outside the box on this topic
And as to Formina, we dont know if there will be a Cantha 'Fissure' armor as of yet, we all suspect there will be. But who, what, when, where, stats and all the above we have no idea yet.

This is part of the "Dont expect the things you see in Tyria to be in Cantha" I'm debating to people in this thread. I'm betting you can get the FoW armor in this game, but it will be only for this game. Same with taking Cantha armor to Tyria, it wont happen. It doesn't belong.
ANET knows people are already thinking "AH! I'm going to farm farm farm and instantly get the best armor in Cantha with all my gold!" - aint gonna happen. So I say get your FoW armor for Tyria, and get ready to work-work-work for Canthian FoW-Style armor, with a brand new look to it

I sure hope that they do not come out with a new set of FoW armor I am sure that they will I just am working hard on my fissure armor i have about 45 of each of the materials at least i may be able to get fissure before factions comes ut I amy not have my glory in cantha but I will have it in tyria.I thinkI am gonna miss the old GW though I am probably gonna keep on playing it even though it will be old and like nobody else will play I still think I am gonna still play it some.

So. I don't think this will be a problem. I've aquired enough money to last me a life time ... But, I do see a possibility of the armor being implemented in the game. From what I have been told, by more than one reliable sources, is that FoW armor will still be the most expensive.

k, let's put it this way:
let's forget about new FoW armour, let's introduce FoW weapons.
just make FoW and UW accesible to the new faction players so they to can get their FoW armours, just add the new faction stats to the already existing skins.
ow i would really like to see big shiny new weapons, shields, focusses, staffs etc with the stats we can pick ourselves (like 15^50 etc, not the addable mods) (very expensive to craft of coarse and standard costomized to prevent selling)
