Does anyone use his PVE char. in PVP ?
zakaria
is it noob action of using your PVE char in PVP to save slots in your account ?
i test my builds of my PVE char. in PVP ..sometimes i win and sometimes i lose.
does anyone do this also ?i know the limits and boundries of using PVE char. in PVP ..it's not like when u make fast PVP char. and get into action as soon as u finished building it but it makes me proud sometimes that i won with my PVE char. against your PVP already made up char.
i hope most of replies to this thread are PVP hardcore players to know what they think about this...THX

Traveller
I do, since I have my slots full and occasionally I'd like to try PvP as well. I've had a lot of fun mostly in RA with my mesmer and ranger.

pvp chars can always have perfect equipment. pve chars often do not. Hence it makes sense to make a pvp char for pvp.
wolfe2dale
Why would I ever use a pvp character? I have spent ages building the perfect pve characters that absolutely own in pvp...
Besides, last I looked you can't get green items for a pvp only character.

I use my PVE monk in all areas, (except maybe in TA). I have 560 health and 53 energy, depending on the choice of 4 weapon slots available which I can toggle between depending on the situation.
I see no point in making an inferior PVP character.

im a bit 50-50. i use a pvp char to play a char i dont have in pve. but if i know my pve char is just as good as any pvp char, then ill use my pve char.
Aejorii
My warrior is fully up to pvp standard with multiple helms/weapons/armor so I use that to pvp. I wish I could use my monk though, I still need to find a good Healing staff.
Lady Lozza
I do PvP with my PvE characters, but not all the time. I keep one slot open for when a group needs a certain combination which cannot be achieved by my PvE characters.

Tbh I use a bit of both. I have sometimes known my PvE characters to do better in PvP than PvP characters, but I think this is due to being more experienced/familiar with my PvE character (i.e. energy amount, health, skill location on bar etc).
fallot
PvP characters give you flexibility and unless you've been playing PvE very extensively you wont be able to match them. If you want to get serious, you will need a PvP slot. Not being able to play 2 primaries in PvP is a huge handicap.
TheMosesPHD
I use my PvE monk in PvP. I've got the sup vigors all around but since I'm a 15k armor maniac and I have 5 chars so I haven't gotten around to getting a sup absorb for my warrior so it can stomp things in PvP too.
EDIT: removed the red engines

Poison Ivy
9 HP won't make a bit of difference :O
Actually, it all comes down to armor. PvE chars can swap a set of armor anytime they like in any situation, unlike PvP are only allowed 1 set.

PvE warriors can take 4 or more weapons with them. And several shields or offhand artifacts. Like shields to reduce conditions if you see trappers up ahead.
fenix
I use my PvE warrior, and my PvE monk all the time, it is MUCH quicker to swap secondaries and items/runes with PvE characters than it is with PvP ones. Plus, I can have different sets of armor for different purposes, which is an advantage over PvP.
Lord Valkyr
I often go into PvP with my PvE characters. Even though I don't have the best weapons/runes, I find I can still compete with PvP characters. On a few occasions I'v gone toe-to-toe with a PvP warrior who had superior vigor + superior absorbtion and a perfect axe, and I still beat him even though my warrior only had minor runes and a clean axe with no mods. I guess it just goes to show that this game is all about skill, not equipment
Pevil Lihatuh
on the rare occasions that i pvp, yes i do. Because 1. i do it so little i have no faction to unlock skills for a pvp char and 2. because i have 2 accounts with one of each primary so I have most of the skills unlocked on them. Even though I do have one spare slot on each account... lol.
Makkert
I use my PvE monk for PvP play. But it fully battle-ready. I've put considerable amount of time to get all skills & equipment to get it ready for pvp.
I'll keep it short on this topic:
- there are advantages to using a pve char in pvp
- for trying/testing diverse builds, a pvp char is often better. a pve char can deal with more stable builds.
- the resources to prepare a pve toon fully for pvp should not be underestimated.

Fantus
I do a lot of PvP and I have never made a PvP char except one which I am using as a mule toon. PvP chars are nice if you want to try a class in PvP you have no advanced PvE toon for, but that's it. If you have all primary skills on the class you want to play there is really no reason not to use an RP character in PvP. You can buy missing skills just as easily as a PvP toon can unlock them. Honestly, if someone says PvE characters are inferior to PvP characters, don't listen to them. Those people are clueless.
PvP chars are made for people who hate to play PvE and for those trying a lot of different builds in one evening. The rest of us can do without.

LightningHell
PvE characters should be used in PvP, unless you haven't yet completed the game with that character yet. I agree to Fantus's point at:
Plus, I like my 15k armor!

PvE all the way. You only need one slot for a PvP character, other than that I'm all PvE.
And for most people who say PvE have inperfect equipment, thats what greens are for............

Well there are some advantages to playing as a PvE toon compared to a PvP one.
I know for a fact that some top guilds use PvE chars to gain certain advantages.
Mainly having a larger selection of equipment to chose from and being able to swap armor and runes on the fly.
Heck till the last patch most top guilds where running PvE warriors to use the HoD hex Helm.
Its easier to use a PvE toon these days with the introduction of perfect green weapons and the general drop of prices to get perfect equipment and mods.
The classes with the most advanatges to running PvE is Warrior(More weapons, -Blindness shield, Being able to switch helms), Ranger(Larger Bow selection), Monk (being able to choose from a larger selection of equipment and armor swapping.)
From what I know Monks should have 3 or 4 sets of equipment to swap to depending on situations that can be a huge advanatge comapared to players that dont (Ie -7 energy set to protect against energy denial, +30 energy set for emergancies, 40% (well techincally 36% )recharge set if they are using oob or edrain for energy management, a high hp set to protect against spikes)
But anyways you should always have one slot reserved for a PvP character they are versatile in being able to quickly play any build

Depends, say made a necro to do Taint and MM and Orders Fairly easy to get PERFECT weapons hence the green items.
Say ranger spike, many green bows can be used.
As goes for ALL CHARACTERS.
As for GVG and HOH, I say make a PVP character cause i doubt each warrior you made has a sup vigor and sup absorb and any other charcter on you PVE slots.
Harder you try can't get a -5 energy focus unless transfer from PVE.

Harmony
On the occasions that I do get a yen to pvp, I have used my pve characters quite effectively in several of the arenas, mainly my elementalist and mesmer. I do plan on making a pvp only character later on; but right now..no slots.

I only have pve char's & I use them in all aspects of the game, (mostly gvg now), they are runed/equiped up to the hilt. Using a pvp ready-made would be kinda silly for me don't you think?
beanerman_99
I use my PvE ele/mes for when the guild decides to GvG. I have unlock all the skills and capped almost all the Elites so I can usually set her up any way the guild needs. I think its is a sense of accomplishment to win a battle in PvP with my trusty PvE Ele.
Rilder
I use sorta both.... if we need a ranger I always go pve since my ranger is only missing like 4 skills... if i go any other class its pvp since my pve warrior dont have alot of elites unlocked and he and my ranger are the only -Set- charactors and will never be deleted.
also my ranger doesnt have perfect equipment but as you all know you dont need perfect equipment to get anywere in this game... sundering is crud, elemental mods can get countered... fortitude to help as much as it seems...condition mods require specific builds... My rangers best bow is 14-27 =P and yes I do have greens.... =P

Johnny Paycheck
I ALWAYS use my PvE monk for PvP.

PvE characters can actually have some advantages in PvP such as certain items and armors. Able to change into differnt armors, runes, ect. PvP players have 1 set armor, at least up to 2 weapons and 2 offhands. On the offhand you have all max mods and max runes. Of course you have to unlock these. Which in thus if you don't do much farming or faction farming for these. It is better to just go with the PvE characters.

Yes i definately do,
MY main char is my warrior but i tend not to use him in pvp; only pve
But my other 2 pve's are my lvl 20 ranger and monk which i use in pvp aswell as pve
I use my monk as any build but my ranger mainly interupt cos it feels so satisfying when ya interupt an eles meteor shower

My mesmer and monk are both PvE chars. I joined a team once and someone said 'omg we have a preset skills mesmer' just by looking at me
boxterduke
I use them since I have 4 pve characters and there is no way I'm going to delete one of them.
Takeko Nakano
I use two of my three PvE characters for PvP because I invested in them. No reason not to.
That said so long as you have one slot free for PvP you can make whatever character you need, when you need.

Let's look at axes. The standard PvP axe is something like a Vampiric axe of fortitude. Now no greens have this - Victos (sundering/fortitude), Razorstone (furious/axemastery), Tanzit's Cleaver (cruel/fortitude).
So where is your perfect PvE item?
That said the difference is marginal at best, but everynow and then it will pay off, and you play PvP to win. I'll take any minor advantage I can get.

The Lich Ranger
I use my PvE chars in PvP and it always works out good.. you just have to have some good items that can match the PvP items..and u have to know what your doing
Burakus Lightwing
I use both, I like to use my PvE characters, but if I need a build based off of a primary that's not one of my PvE characters, then having that one PvP slot to play around with is nice.
Stalker Haras
I use both Pve Charicters and PvP. As stated a few posts back, its only really necissary to make the PvP charicter if your current PvE slots cannot fulfill what is needed. But imo if one has the perfect weapons, and armor runed up same as a PvP charicter, i dont see why not?
Alot of guild battles these days you start to see more and more PvE chareicters doing battles. For Instance [iGi] uses their mix of PvE and PvP charicters. I dont think it makes a difference if you have what your build needs.
