Does anyone get a bad feeling about factions

Even though Ritualist and Assasin are not part of the core class, I will make the assumption that A-Net will need to support these characters after Factions to maintain game balance.

Let's say you buy both Expansions a year for $100. That's still less than the $150 per year for WoW (not including the price for the game and the Burning Lands expansion!)
Oh, and here's the best part: You don't have to buy Factions to continue to play GW for FREE! It's your choice. If it's not worth it to you, don't buy it.
That simple.
Oh, and I think creativity = more than new slots/ professions. The design of levels, skill balancing, storyline, art direction, etc. I'm hoping in these areas, Factions will be more creative than Prophecy.

You will still be able to make them, but why would they need new skills? You cant use them in further expansions as they arent core classes. (actually you probably will be able to, and they probably will get more skills...but going by what ANET said...no they wont)

I wont even bother continue discussing this topic with you since you said "If it's not worth it to you, don't buy it." This is the most annoying response to all negative thoughts about GWF. it kills all mature discusstion. And you wont be able to hear it from any one of A-net Staff. Only get it from some forum user.

A few new maps and a couple of new sets fo armor for existing professions dont make me think its fair to pay for these professions again. |
The existing jobs is also for new players who don't have C1. And if they change the starting skill type for the base jobs, aka don't start Ele with fire for example, that would be reason to try a new job.

LOL........They can and they will play the "free-to-play" card again and again and again. Why?........Because it works! Everyones favorite word is "FREE".
It's another slam dunk for A-Net, and I'll bet my ectos they get another 1 million buyers easy.
You've gotten more than your moneys worth out of this game probably. If you go to the movies, you will pay $50 bucks for 4 people + snacks at least, and thats for only 2 hours of enjoyment!
How many hours do you have logged so far?
We all know that $50 bucks is a small price to pay for the hours of enjoyment that you will recieve from this update. I don't want to call you cheap, but you leave me no choice.

say you buy chapter 3 and 1. but not 2. you wont be able to have rit or A because it was unleashed in factions. but if you do have them, you get new skills. the only reason the core classes are included in each expansion, is because if you only bought 2, and it only had Rit and A, the game would be pretty lame.
This is how they get you to buy more games. if you have them all, you get everything, but if you miss one expansion, you lose out on entire classes. and if you dont have the original, you dont get all the skills for the core classes. its a pretty smart move. they arnt forcing you into anything, but if you want it bad enough you will shell out the dough.
that is what anet meant.
SilentAssassin
man why are alot of you guys already nagging about factions just beeing an expansion with extra armor, skills weps etc..
NO its not !!
A.net tries to make a different play style, wait till 24 march and then you can start nagging about these stuff if its true.
Factions isn't an expansion, its a total new game (offcourse it has the same base as prophecies) , just think about those alliances, those massive battles, those PvE missions to gain control of an area/town, I haven't seen any of these things in prophecies.
and I am sure chapter 3 will have a total different style to, A.net is trying to be creative and 90% of the time I agree with them
and about balancing issues, just read the faq's A.net is trying to keep the game balanced and when they see something thats way to overpowered - overused they will nerf it, just like the way they always did in prophecies. offcourse their job will be harder and harder with every expansion, but thats what makes GuildWars so good

I've given you examples of why it is, and your response is "it will never be as creative as the original."
I'm sorry, but with a piss poor attitude like that, I'm going to tell you not to buy it, because you will never be satisfied with anything other than the original Guild Wars.
The good news is you can continue to play the original, without buying anything else. How can you ask for anything more than that?
(The only thing I can say about WoW is I played it for about 5 min. Worse graphics, worse interface, worse gameplay than Guild Wars. Why would I pay monthly for that? As for WoW costs, they're making something like 90 million dollars a MONTH from subscribers alone (6 million players x $15).
For that much money, playing WoW should be better. Strangely, it's not.
Illusion
wow just remember we had a preview and i have to agree on the ritualist being a little rigged me and friend teamed up dealing over 800 with the spirits talk about free factions =)
Martian
dude your talking bollocks, you're basically saying if i cant have assasins and ritualists nobody can! BWAHAHAHA! If your not willing to spunk an extra 50$ on it that does'nt mean everybody else has to do without it, besides why would Anet knowingly upset the balance of the game and create better characters for Factions players? get yer head on straight :P

wow+expansion+1year of gaming=250 bucks
GW+Factions+chapter2+chapter3+chapter4=250 bucks for unlimited play
i dont know, looks like guild wars wins there, it may have not started out with as muchcontent, but as time goes by GW will have more content for alot less money.
not to mention in wow you have to put up with the retarded antics of the comunity. GW, if the comunity pisses you off, you can play alone

nvm, I decided to stop discussing.
Anyway, A-net wont be as successful as they doing this year isnt my business.
GWF would never make another 1 million purchases in US, Euro and Korea as GW did
wsmcasey
All I can say about World of Warcraft is that it was the worst $80 bucks I ever paid for a game. The extra $30 was to play for 2 months. Unfortunately I bought into the hype before actually playing the game, and I got royally burned. Maybe at higher levels the game play is different, but I tried several characters and only got as high as level 13 before I was just total bored of the game. I felt utterly alone in the game, people didn't really talk that much, I never saw anyone recruiting to be in a guild, and even if you were in a guild, how the hell would you ever get to see your guildies? You have to walk forever just to get anywhere. Not my playing style I guess.
I don't think Factions will do bad at all. I have always had a feeling of community when playing guild wars. People are always talking, its easy to get into a guild if thats your think, you can be a loner if thats what you prefer. Also the depth of the skills are vastly superior and the combinations you can create with stacking skills makes this a better game for PvE and PvP imo.

GW+factions=100 (thats for the first year of the game aproximitly)
So in conclusion, GW is cheaper than WoW.
And if you look at, it WoW will have an exponential price rate that will forever rise the longer you play it. 2 years from now, guild wars will be hundreds of dollars less in total, plus the fact you dont even have to buy the expansions, so actually you could buy GW, and play for years, and only have payed 50 bucks.

But in the long-run, I think GW will beat WoW in content, and cost.

isnt guild wars a skill based game tbh if your not that good it wouldnt matter wheter you have assasain or rit due to skill level (there will be differences around killing assa and rit people will have to figure them out)
wondering aout what new armour will be coming out annd the costs of the stuff tbh! we need some mantle or balthazar armour!

The only concerns I have are these:
Lack of henchie AI or commands. Why? With the new content, as the OP mentioned, some "older" quests and missions may be hard to find groups for. And with henchies being dumb as rocks, some quests/missions may not be finshable (thank goodness for my guildes).
Lack of Pet commands. I am wanting to try a Ri/Ra for a beast master. Without pet commands though, I'll run into the same issues with just a ranger beast master... a dead pet. I'll admit, I'm a terrible beast master, but it was fun trying. Pet commands will help.
PvP issues. I don't like PvP in any shape or form, I find it so boring. Factions seems to rather "push" it. That's cool and all, as long as I don't have to PvP to complete quests/missions and such. My least favorite part in proph is the annoying pre to post searing PvP episode. It was as much fun as watching paint dry. After the 3rd time, I just went afk to get a drink, let the other team kill me over and over just so I could get past it (just had hencies with me, and I know they didn't care). I would do the same with more "forced" story line PvP situations.
Another issue with PvP and me, (and this comes from another online game I played that is no longer running) is missions and quests taking place within PvP territory. I can't see Anet doing this, but if they do, there's a whole bunch of content I'll miss out on, and that's a bummer.
The PvP issues are of course speculation on my part, I have seen nothing to "ease" those concerns though.
As for class balance, I'm sure Anet will keep them well enough equal. It's really the economy that is unbalanced right now. New players, or players with less time to play than some (like me) can't afford the items they want to get. Maybe, Factions (a big maybe) will help with that. Not sure how, but I'm hoping for an improved economy situation. It's all about balance after all.

the only quests that factiosn people might not be able to get are some of the really early ones, but its not like you cnat use hench with those anyways.
lastly, remember, even after factions, you can decide what continent your character starts at.
Pets shouldnt be a problem as long as you have GW:P, because once you get to the port town in factions, you can just sail to tyria and get the pet skills there.
as for you not likeing pvp, well if you ant stand it then you may have chosen the wrong game

As for not liking PvP, I don't think I've chosen the wrong game. That would be saying my entire guild (which is 100% PvE) chose the wrong game. None of us care for PvP and all of us have an awesome 0 fame rating! Woot!
One of the great things about GW, is that (so far) I can opt in or opt out of PvP.
It's also the only game where I can play for an hour or two and do something other than sit and "LFG" during that time period. It's fast moving and a blast too play. If PvP were the only thing, or the best part of it, then I see another Shadowbane ending for this game.
I do enjoy "cheering" the PvP on for access to FoW/UW and it adds a little something to the game. I just don't want to partake in it, cause I find that part boring. I'm not saying they should do away with PvP either (just to state that out right), just not force me into it. Anet, also never said they were forcing us into it, they have also not clarified what they meant by "co-op" missions either though. If it's several groups vs the enviroment then cool. If it's several groups vs several groups (of other players) then I see nothing more than an arena of people running in circles trying to spike the monks/mesmers... rinse repeat. and like I said, I do not find that fun. I've watched a couple of PvP matches in the past day or so, and I can honestly say "I just don't get it". I watched the same person do the same thing over and over and over again. They hit a warrior a few times, changed targets, did it again, changed targets, leveled some poor monk, and started on the warrior again. This went on for about five minutes before I stopped watching. Like I said, I don't get it. I do have respect for people who do enjoy it though. That's another great thing about GW, it's fun for a large group of people.
I just hope it stays that way and not attempts to force a play style on us.
Edit: apparently I can't spell and my grammar stinks prior three cups of coffee, so forgive me :P

well maybe saying wrong game is a little harsh, cause my guild is mostly pve, but a few of us do pvp.
Im just saying that it shouldnt be a suprise that they would try to put pvp into the main story, it gets oth sides to try out the other.
I dont think you will have to worry thought, the pvp in the actuall game will be way diffrent from actual arenas, but the significance of having it in pve is that it lets you get controll of certain areas, much like favor of the gods. Except in factions all countries can join in on it to fight together agaisnt the otehr faction, and its alot more accesable then having to do HoH.

This game is not just an expansion it is also a stand alone game. That is why they charge the $50 price tag. I for one am happy to pay the full price for a great game as long as there is no monthly fee.
ANet obviously loves this game and the people playing it. Why else would they constantly be tweaking it. They add new content FREE, they have holiday special themes and they are constanly trying to make the game as good as it can be. Of course they could not put every idea they had into the first game, they needed some stuff for futures chapters. They also needed to make sure that the game would survive as a free MMO.
As far as not being creative just wait and see. ANet has a group of very talented people who make this game and I am sure there will be some creative stuff in future chapters.

yup, just look at the new update, go to Sort by Campaign in the skils window, and you can see all the skills that are only in chapter 1. like I said, no chapter will ever be useless.

And until they make better Energy Armor than the ones in Prophecy, those will always be an option.
