PvP armor! :D
Silent Elvin Ranger
Hmm ranger sentry armor kinda looks like a ninja (japanese style) i love sentry armor for pvp (resolve trapping) ((resolve is a stance)). i definettly love the scouts armor. preperations are always up. I am very surprised they dint make armor with bonus while in presence of a spirit. that would encourage more spirit usage.

wow that monk armor might get a lil overpowered O_O disciples
think about Mo/me with martyr and arcane mimicry's a friends melandru's resillience... thats potentially crazy energy/hp and now insane defense... the new armor will make for some fun experimenting ^^

But, hey, if I can harden my Blinding Flash turret in the expansion to piss off warriors even more, well, that's enough reason to upgrade to the expansion right there. =) Peace, -CxE |
Hey Ensign,
The above was a response to saving the PvP Ele - I agree no armor will do it. The skill adds to me don't speak of a lot of hope IMO though there are a few new offensive and defensive skills to consider and possibly weave in.
Just wondering as Factions hits and we know the skills what your thoughts are there in regards to PvP.

The biggest benefit you get from it is some damage reduction from elemental spells, which actually are quite few. I hope they can either boost the armor (give it another bonus, or boost it in some way). Or reduce the requirement to 8-10 strength. Im sure Strength will be more useful overall in Chapter 2. Either way i'll probably make the armor and use it in PvE cause it looks nice. But theoretically it could be the worst warrior set, and you have to meet a hefty requirement to have it up to par with everything else. |
Couple that with a modest requirement (like 9str) and at least then you might see it sneak into PvP. Otherwise it's just a special farming armor (and you won't be showing it off to anyone there as you're probably soloing, right...)

this makes it seem more likely to me that u can alter ur strength attribute via skills to get the full effect of sentinel armor w/o dumping all the points in http://guildwiki.org/wiki/Skills_by_Campaign |
When I first saw the list I had the same hope.
As it turns out that's not it at all, oh well
To be anything but a sideline farm build/showpiece I think the requirement would have to drop down to 7-9 IMO, 9 seems to be the highest reasonable.

I got the sentinal armor still and I'm still able to use it in PvP. Although, I haven't seen anyone else with it.

I have seen a quite a few people with PFE armors around the battle islands. I for one am perfectly happy with the req. of the Sentinel's, for you should be paying a decent price for 100AL. I still see Glad's dominating PvP but I also see Sentinel's getting a lot of use in PvE for quests that require a stone-solid tank.
I already have the sets I want planned out.
For my Asssassin - Valkarie's Guise, Shrouded Gloves, Shrouded Leggings, Shrounded Shoes.
For my Elementalist - Tempest set for the 15AL enchantment bonus (5AL global, 10AL local) (tempest > battlemage)
and Finally for my Monk - 15k Acolyte ftw!

Higher energy armours will continue to be popular (Druid's, Gladiator's, Enchanter's, Ascetics, etc.). +Health armours will become very important (Shephards, etc.) and allow for more superior rune usage, and demand more offensive power. +Armour armour will, of course, have their uses, but will not be as important in the long run, except for on the more lightly armoured characters such as Monks (who will likely use Acolyte's). Warrior's and Rangers really don't need that extra 15-20 armour points unless they plan on making some sort of solo build for taking out NPC's in GvG or controlling outer objectives in 12v12.
