Doing What Anet Never Intended
Unclean
I was wondering if anyone else out there has attempted to do anything that the game designers never intended.
One little trick that I've been doing recently is committing suicide with my R/Mo13. I get a group together (usually in Ascalon) with the "challenge" of keeping me alive for 15 seconds. In fact, I offer 5k to anyone that can do it. Here's how I set it up:
"Listen up folks. Bring along any skills you'd like to make sure I stay alive. If I don't die in 15 seconds or less, you each get 5k. But if I DO die in 15 seconds or less, you get nothing. You have all the time you'd like to prepare. You choose when to start the timer, and where."
After everyone has found a good location far away from monsters, says they are ready and have cast all the spells on me they wanted (healing breeze, vital blessing, reversal of fortune, etc), they say "go" or something like that. I die in 1 second. We never even get into a single battle. I suggest that someone should res me. Someone attempts it. I don't even stand up and I'm dead again. I'm dead for good.
Question for everyone: how do I do it? I'm not in a battle, everyone has beefed up my life, spamming heals, and I have health regen from healing breeze. Feel free to ask all of the questions you want.
I'm sure as I do this more (and it's posted here now), it'll be copied by other people. So I'd like to copyright this mischief technique now.

Hmmm, Do you have skills beyond your level?
One way is to put unyielding aura on yourself, then take it off and you die.
But that won't explain how if you get res'd you die again.
Another way is probably that you are using all superior rune armor. At such a low level it kills you. Let them put the enchants and other things on you, switch armor then die.

heath saccing spells (infuse health ect)
Kakumei
At level 13, you'd have 340 health. Five superior runes would drop you to 1. Use Infuse Health, and you die instantly. 15% DP means you can't be ressed by normal means.
Oh, Vital Blessing. Huh.

you have a vamp weapon, and let your health degen down. and then when they say go you swap to some sup rune armor and kill yourself.
Epinephrine
Nevermind - saw you are R/Mo.
level 13 is 340 health. You can easily have very low health. - essentially 0. Contemplation of Purity would drop all enchants on you, your health could technically be 0, with a vamp weapon switch. -425 health from a 55 monk setup would leave you with no health, but alive at 0 DP; switching to a vampiric weapon will kill you. CoP+ weapon swap.

alright, you are a monk with several sup runes, and you are doing a mesmer spell that takes a percentege of your life, but it takes a percentege of your original life, not your current, and therefore you die, and when they try to res you since you now have a 15% dp, based on 15% of your original life, you will res with less than one point, which means you res as a dead man. unless they use resurection signet to res you with all your hp, which is 1hp, you will die every time the use restore life or rebirth.
Cherno
What weapon and/or offhand are you using?
Superiors plus a -50 grim cesta and you are insta dead, with dp you are below resable health.
Do you have a pet with you?
Isn't there like a sybiotic bond spell or something? I am not even sure what it does, but there might be some pet involvement.

And here are some of the responses I get when I do this trick:
"wtf?"
"LOL"
"That was 15 seconds, pay up" (obvious lie)
"hahaha"
"how'd you do that?"
"do it again without that skill" (I do, they still can't keep me alive)
"scammer!" (what are they losing from this?)
"wait, I wasn't ready!" (i.e. 'that was too fast for me to do anything')
"hax!" (this 'trick' is totally legit)
"lemme get some new skills"
And one special mention from an angry monk:
monk: "omg noob, go learn GW."
[monk leaves party]
me: "hey, not my fault a lvl 20 monk can't keep me alive for 15 seconds. How am I the noob?"
monk: "you killed yourself"
me: "yep. explaining how I die was never part of the challenge, but you're more than welcome to try again."
monk: "I'm not the noob. I have 15k armor and 2 ascended chars! you don't know anything about GW"
me: "I know how to bug know-it-all monks with big egos. "
monk: "come back when you know GW"
[ignores monk]
What this monk didn't know is that I usually give people that joined me gold for being good sports. But I don't give the jerks anything.

As I said above, 55 monk setup on your lower health, with CoP and a vamp weapon? That'd strip all the buffs instantly and you could die by weapon swap.

Okay, you can kill yourself fast. Good job. You win at dying. I don't know if that's anything to boast about.
Unclean
Epinephrine got it. Nice job!
One thing no one got is how I die instantly from a res, though. It's quite simple, really. Just think it through.
New question: what happens if someone casts that nature ritual that gives all creatures +X life? Then I can't drain my life fast enough, and I can't strip the enchantment with Contemplation of Purity.
@Kakumei - I'm not boasting. Just having a good time. And hopefully others are having a good time trying to put the puzzle together and imagining how people react to this.

Sure it is something to boast about. It is a fun challenge, people he deals with feel stupid that they think they can do something and can't then get all pissy about it.
We can all find little challenges to boast about in the game. Got one of every time of armor? each skin of weapon? Finished every bonus? Explored the whole map? I am sure that you will always find someone who thinks that is nothing to boast about.
This is his thing. Seems like a fun challenge. But since he said that we could ask whatever questions we wanted, he didn't say he would answer them.

If you are at 340 with the 5 runes taking you down to 1HP, using a -50 cesta would take you below resable health, even res sig or Vengeance. Then factor in DP. Even a level 20 can't be rebirthed without instadying.

Oh, and you aren't correct on the dp affecting the ability to res. You're on the right track, though...

Too easy...even with no /me or /n.
Bring 5 Sup Runes (not vigor) in extra armor. Weapon slot to swith too would be a Vamp 1 handed weapon, and the -50 cesta just for show.
Signal for them to set you up with Enchants/what not. You swith Armors to the sup rune armor.
Say Go once all their enchants are up. Cast CoP which immediently puts your health back to 1 hp (cause vital blessing, etc would be stripped), and you'd immediently die because of vamp degen taking the 1 hp - no time for them to even react. The monks could technically have a quick enough reaction with a 1/4 sec cast time spell to catch you before the vamp could get you (at ~1/2 sec). So you can bring some insurance in other spells. Like Infuse health.
Upon being rezzed, you'd immediently die again.
Fertile Season (the +health spriit you were refering too) would be your only potential problem. Maybe symbiosis if they recast a enchant in time. But even then - I could see you pulling through in 15 secs. Usually with use of a pet and Sym. Bond (send lvl1 pet to nearest enemy, and watch yourself take like 1billion dmg cause of your pets armor being so low).

You're right, Former Ruling. But Epinephrine got it right earlier.
The last question on the table is how I dealt with the +hp spirit. That's not an enchantment.

@Former Ruling -- I'm not sure who these "ranger saccers" are that you speak of, but this build would work with any profession. I also see that you edited your post after I made mine to include the spirit part. Re: your edit, yes, that's one way that it could be done. But I can kill my char that has fertile season on him in less than 15 seconds without ever getting hit by a monster.
So there's still a question on the table: without using pets, how can a char with fertile season on them kill themselves without engaging in a battle?

@Carinae - Shame is a Me spell, and is cast on monsters (not allies). Malign Intervention is a Necro spell, and also can only be cast on monsters (not allies). My char is a R/Mo13.
I wonder what would happen if a necro brought their hp down to 1 and did some kind of sac spell (awaken the blood, demonic flesh, etc)? I think because it works in percentages, a necro would have to cast a few sac spells before dying. (1 health, sac 20% = .8 health, sac 10% = .7 health, etc). Kinda like event horizon stuff.
The reason I think this is because the I can do some odd things with life being that low. For example, a fast switch to the vampiric weapon and back to a normal weapon very quickly will make the life bar drain but not all the way. Then it regens almost instantly, so it looks like a slide whistle if I hit F1 F2 F1 F2.
What does everyone else think?

Good guess! I didn't think of that either... but the problem would still remain. Say you drop a lvl 1 fertile season. That's still +50hp, so then maybe with a vamp weapon and infuse health. Wait, no (typing out loud here)... 51hp, sac half and that's 25~26. Vamp weapon @ -1~3 still would give the healers enough time to heal.

You are thinking outside the box here though... and that's what it took me (and half an hour of trying to figure out a solution to this!).

Fertile Season will definately defeat his suicide build. Since he is R/Mo, he has no self sacrifice spells except infuse health. Just keep healing breeze on him.
myswheels
at level 13 you'd have 340hp. minus 5 sup runes (-375) will put you at 1hp, although your actual health is -35. You could cop to remove enchants, and then swap to a vamp weapon and the -50 cesta. you would be at -85hp (1hp), and the vamp -1 regen would kill you.
After the first time, you have DP, so you are really getting into the negative hp.
You never told us how strong the fertile season was (or if there was one). If a ranger dropped a +370hp season you wouldn't be able to pull this off, but any season < 85hp wouldnt have an effect.
Another way to beat this, one member of the party can sac themselves, and another bring up a well of blood or power

Just a question thought... Are you moving at all ?
Becaus if yes, you could always get out of fertile's season range in time to die from the vamp mod.

Interesting idea, MSecorsky! I wonder if it would slow the char down enough. Isn't it a 25% reduction in movement? And stormchaser gives 25%, so they'd cancel out. I wonder if someone can outrun the area in 15 seconds...
