Ummm... it is a standalone game. The "yet not" part of your statement is silly. It smells like an expansion because for a large portion of the people buying it will be a continuation. The idea of expansion and standalone aren't mutually exclusive here. The game will be both fully playable by itself and will fully support characters from the original game. So it is an Expanding Standalone but not any less of a standalone product.

Trying to make this into some sort of a negative argument is silly and that is why everyone is laughing at you. I get your point and you are wrong in part.

As for what I was trying to say, no, that's not it at all. And I'm surprised more people really arent upset with it.

What my problem stems from is the special material you pay so much extra for to get. People could by the plain game, but most people try to get the extra materials.

In this case, the extra materials are class specific around the two new classes. By this, they are treating the extra materials as if they were extras for an expansion, not a stand alone. Which was my point. If this were extras for a stand alone, they would have done the preorder like they did last time. Each store gets a different version and a different special weapon.

In the Collector's Edition the Divine Aura-like extra would be applied to each character you create, not just the two new classes.

You see, while they are trying to promote the two new classes, and promote them heavily, that's not the point. The point is that the extra materials they are giving to the people who buy the expanded box sets should be all encompassing to the characters they create, and not just specific to two classes that are being added as of this game.

So Stand alone product, but the extras are not.

As I said, I think they're saving more special dances for other professions in later Chapters. In any case, the CE's are more than "Divine Aura" and "Special Dances."

It's art books, voice chat, mouse pads, etc., etc. You're taking a very small bit of the CE and (IMO) blowing it out of proportion.

Since Factions has two new classes why would they not promote them? Can you get special items for the rituatalist or Assassin in Prophecies?

And the rolls are reversed if Factions only owners buy Prophecies where is all this extra stuff for the two new classes.

In any case, I took one of your posts explaining your position, removed the useless information, and retained an answer--YOUR answer, in fact.

It's a stand alone. I agree. You agree. It may not be the best stand-alone out there, but there are marketing decisions behind it. Yes, the stand-alone does focus its bonuses more on the Assassin and the Ritualist, but it's -still- stand-alone.

While you may say it's a stupid marketing decision, this is Anet's company, and they believe it's their best decision--and, no offense intended, since you -don't- run a large online game, let alone a business (at least, I assume not), or have had some experience even marketing games--like, say, Diablo 2, then.. :shrugs:

It doesnt work like that. In the Prophecies chapter, you could buy the stuff for the classes. In Factions you cant. And in your reverse situtation, it doesnt apply since the classes dont exist in that game. I'm talking about specialties for all the classes in the game. As the two new classes dont exist in Proph, your situation doesnt make sense.
