So I'm in Droknars and I'm trying to buy a zealous sword hilt, I get 2 offers and they are both selling one for 10k. Wtf? Since when did something like this, cost this much? Purple items have zealous for christ sake, I could buy one of those and salvage it for about 500 gold.

Unless I totally missed out on a rise in prices, I think I'll be farming for one unless I get a decent seller.

And today seems the day for WoW accounts on the market, I see about 3 people selling one.

BLUE has zealous, its one of the lowest mods avialable.

They were just hoping you were a nub so you could filter money form you.

RELATED: I was buying Wroth's Rod and Icon set and this guy asked 15k for them. I just said no thank you, turned around, and bought them seperately for ~1k each.

How did you arrive at those numbers?
What would work better in comparison?
*some* extra damage some of the time is better than no extra damage all of the time, right?

I'm basically looking for someone to explain, in detail, and show their work...

I've read the entry for Sundering on guildwiki, and even looked at the external link to someone's spreadsheet, but while I can get the general gist, it's still not perfectly transparent on the "why" question.

Zealous is absolutely brilliant yet underappreciated, i'd rank it best hilt/haft (but not for hammers). Ho well, let people pay thousands of gold on addtional damage mods...

@the op, i've had a hard time finding such a mod online, here's my advice if you're not in a hurry : check the auction i bought one for 600g there.

Well, I got my zealous sword mod but I need an axe mod now.. here come the 5k-12k offers! Gotta love it.

If anyone has an axe haft, my IGN is Mr Indomitable. Thanks though MMS, if you have one of these let me know. I'm tired of dealing with these idiots.

And yes, I love zealous.. it's great. Sundering really is horrible, I dislike it. I don't see how they go for as much as they do personally. I love vampiric also..

These are almost as bad as sundering. 20% chance only triggers while using skills, this is worse than the Strength primary attribute.

Get a vampiric weapon and a zealous weapon.

ALL mods are blue in the PvE game. It is only when you are unlocking stuff on the Factions Reward screen do you see that some mods are blue and others are gold. Also, blue weapons do not make it any worse than a gold weapon (HoD weps anyone?). It is just rarity.

I don't think that is what Former is saying. He is saying that a blue weapon drop which can contain a zealous mod is fairly common. Yes in pve all mods are blue once salvaged, but the weapon color before it's salvaged can be blue, purple or gold. It isn't just the fact that their drop percentage is rarer, but the damage range, inherent damage mods, and pre and postfix mods determine the rarity quality of a weapon. For example you won't see a blue sword drop that is 15-22 damage, req 9, 15>50, vamp 3/1 and +1 sword 20%. That drop will definitely be gold. If you salvage it the hilt or pommel will be blue.

That is true. Didn't really understand what he meant. But I do know quite a 15^50 sword that drops and is blue. Blue just means more common. Just because a mod is more common doesn't mean it isn't as good. An Armor +5 mod is great as it is cheap compared to +30 Fortitude and it's common. People have this fascination w/ having items that are rare but might not even have a utility purpose whereas there are a quite a few common mods that are good.

The only sword that can drop blue with 15% is IDS. Or blue will be 10%max.

I don't like zealous because I gain 1 energy a hit, I like zealous because I'm stealing 1 energy a hit from that s.o.b. Monk who keeps healing his teamates.

I always thought it odd when zealous upgrades for axes and swords started getting so high, since you'd think they never would since every zealous upgrade gives exactly the same amount of zealousness ( ), while only a small percent of sundering upgrades are considered worthy of use. And yet the price continues to rise...

The 20% chance +1 Attribute mod is actually quite a good one for a main weapon. Say if you get a Horn Bow for ranger spike, a 5:1 vamp and a 20% chance +1 Marksmanship mod is far superior to that of say +x Armour or +30 HP. Sure you only have a chance of doing slightly more damage, but there is no other suffix mods that add any sort of damage (aside from Deathbane, Tenguslaying, etc. Too specific though.).

Obviously you're not going to have your vampiric up all the time, only when you're going to do some serious damage, so you're going to have an either Zealous or something else + a +x AL or +30 HP on your switchout.

Zealous doesn't steal energy, you only gain energy per hit. Otherwise it would be overpowered. On a sword or axe, zealous is (during normal hitting) equivilant to slightly more that +1 pip. While you're in frenzy/tf/whatever attack speed buff you use, it is worth much more than the 1 pip you lose.

Would be nice if they buffed the zealous for us hammer warriors, especially since hammer tends to be more energy dependant.

Way much more. I can constantly keep up tiger's fury using this even if it's a 10 energy cost (This is providing all your hits are landing). With an IAS of 1 attack/second you're gaining 1 energy/sec equivalent (if i recall well) to 3 pips of energy regen. Add this to your existing 1 energy pip and you virtually have 4 pips of energy regen on your warrior - Not bad at all.

Quote:

Indeed. I've never tried a zealous hammer since its base attack speed is a bit too slow to make up for the zealous mod. 2 energy/hit zealous mod would be a nice way of boosting hammers.

Swords and axes strike every 1.33 seconds, provided you're not in an IAS stance. I think, but I'm not sure, that hammers attack every 1.75 seconds. If a zealous hammer mod was to net you 2 energy per hit, it'd be overpowered, unfortunately.

Well, i've ad to see what the number would give for the current mods and here's the result :

Here are the terms used :

Base atk. speed = Base attack speed of the weapon, (ie time beetween each atack).
Atk/s = Number of attack/s (derived from base atk. speed).
Atk/s (IAS) = Same as above but with a 33% attack speed increase. Tiger fury, frenzy, etc.
E gain = Equivalent number of energy pips . (considering every attack hits)
E gain (IAS) = same as above but under increased attack speed.
VER = Virtual energy regeneration. This is the total equivalent of energy pips (1 energy pip remaining out of the 2 original, + energy gain). This is virtual because you don't see the energy pips but have the equivalent regen.
VER (IAS) = Same as above but with increased attack speed.

Honestly, i see little interest in the hammer zealous mod as it is, under IAS it is not too bad but not as good as an axe or sword upgrade.

My friend posted a WTB for an Icy Bow String, someone replied they wanted 5k for one. I saw someone spamming a WTS Staff Wrapping of Fortitude +22 hp 15k yesterday in ToA. I whispered him and told him that I couldn't sell a +28 for 3k. He said he knew, and "shhhh".

I also saw someone trying to sell bleached carapaces (not even shells, mind you) for 15k in the Amnoon Oasis). I PM'd him that I had one that I could part with for only 2k--that would be a huge turnaround for him. No response.

What I don't get is, if you have 15k, or even 5k, how would you have gotten it if you were stupid enough to pay so much for a crappy mod or item like that in the first place? Did you sell one to someone else for 20k?

If so, I've got a +28 staff wrapping of fortitude, only 60k...but for you, I'll go 50k...

These people are either unspeakably stuuuupid, and quite possibly malicious. Yet another strong argument for a larger ignore list.

Wait a minute, wait a minute... are you saying Zealous operates like Vampiric? Programmingwise, that's not too far away, but guildwiki and other sources say nothing of the sort about it *stealing* energy. They say that for each successful hit, the wielder *gains* energy...

If you're going to say that it steals energy from the target, we need a source and some testing to verify.

eudas

hm, obviously i need to finish reading ALL replies before replying myself. someone else above also mentions that zealous doesn't "steal" energy. i think that's more correct, but am open to having someone who's tested it clarify.

Just people trying to scam newcomers. Also, if you haven't logged in in a while you may be behind the times. When I first bought my +29 HP pommel, it was like 60k. A month or two later (after the green invasion) it was like 20k.

Also, after the whole IDS debacle people now thing Icy mods are really rare. When the IDS first came out I saw several people wanting to sell their Icy Hilt for like 10k. Some people even bought it and tried to put on their FDS to see if that was how to get the IDS.

alot of the overprice sellers are chinese farmers. i had one try to sell me a victo's for 30k yesterday when i'd seen it commonly advertised (and talked to many sellers) for days around 10-15k.

i kept telling him i'd give him 10k, 10k, 10k, 11k, haggling, you know... got him down to 23k before i gave up. just waited a bit, and a few minutes later someone was advertising 15k. i told him i'd give him 10k, we haggled to 12k. bought it for 12k.

then i went back to the chinese farmer to say "hey guy, i just bought one for 12k", and his reply was "no 25k"... obviously, they no habla engles. they probably only recognize the numbers. stupid chinese farmer. tryin' to out-eudas eudas!

Tombs cant be farmed like that, you need real groups to get those greens. You cant blame everything on chinese farmers.
