Worst Elite Skill

Well, I play little to no PVP, so I suppose that influences my opinion quite a bit.
I suppose I have been coddled by the ranger elites, most of which stand just fine on their own. I must admit I am utterly addicted to Oath Shot.

Quickshot: PERFECT spike after a dual shot, hits precisely at the same time because of its speed
Crippling Anguish: Slowdown=warrior shutdown/flagrunner shutdown
Ether prodigy: Unlimited energypool
Signet of Midnight: Especially combined with mantra of inscriptions, warrior pwange
Poison Arrow: no 3 sec preperation time, hardly any energy, long poison duration
Glimmeringmark: Anti-iway
Amity: Anti-iway but still pretty much sux
Escape: Speedboost+dodging attacks
Keystone sig: yeah sux atm
But for the rest, theyre not that bad are they?
Unyielding Aura or Keystone signet has my vote

elemental : mind spells closely followed with mist form, ether renewal and thunderclap (energyloss is a tad to high)
mesmers: keystone signet (because of lack of signets)
monk : peace and harmony + unyielding aura
necro: grenths balance
ranger: incendiary arrows, quick shot could use an unblockable/unevasionable mod
warrior: skull crack

Flourish, Skull Crack, Poison Arrow, Keystone Signet, Glimmering Mark, Crippling Anguish, Earth Shaker- take your pick.
Glad's Defense and Defy Pain don't get a mention, since they're useful in PvE.

What the hell is wrong with amnity? It's essentially a pacify AoE. Sure its a bad skill if you cast something like metoer storm afterwords, but I have used amnity in degen builds with well co-ordinated teams before and had it work quite well.
Also, I agree with Aera, quickshot has its purpose.

Can anyone say lightning surge, really uselss skill. Maybe wihout the exhaustion or delay it could be good, maybe.

imho a shot with a shortbow will stay well within 1 sec from activation till arrowlanding.
i agree with Aera: PERFECT spikerskill for dualshot combo

Im a little surpised at all the quickshot hate.
If your objective is to apply pressure then quickshot is a really good skill to up your dps. I guess people assume that rangers dont apply pressure well unless they are spreading posion. The flexablity in quickshot is that - you can apply pressure (on a point target like a warrior does) and support a spike with one skill.
I think a lot of elites are not "practical" to use because collectively our builds are optimized for the natural flow of how the game is played. Because of this, certain skills just dont fit in even though they could be perfectly fine or maybe great in select situations.
That being recognized a lot of elite skills are worst because other elites are better.
They are better mostly because they address a majority of situations that arise (metagame) or are very good at allowing situations for players to create.
Also, they are better for the ease of coropative use. The more independent a skill is the more use it will get because teamwork takes a significant amount of work in this game.

Signet of Midnight is NOT useless!!
I can't count how many times it saved my ass when I play as bonder in PVP. As a bonder I stay away from combat unless a bond fell off (if I have extra energy I cast an Aegis or similar rather than getting close in), but I always have that one warrior constantly chasing me and preventing me from casting the vital Blessed Signet. Since as I said I usually stay away from combat, its me+enemy warrior in one place and everyone else in another.
So you just don't realize how useful it is for me to throw a Midnight on that guy, and calmly cast my bonds and self healing while he swings around his hammer and not hitting crap. By the time blindness wears off, the signet of midnight recharges. 95% of warriors don't have mend ailment with them, and I can simply neutralize any single warrior on me while keeping my primary job as a bonder going full swing.

I see a lot of people saying Lightning Surge. I actually used Surge back in the day when I thought Air ele was the greatest character. Granted this was several months ago and I had not been playing the game for very long. I still don't think that it is a terrible elite. It may not be that great but it doesn't suck.
I would cast surge, then immediately after cast orb. Surge and orb would strike almost immediately and orb was a guaranteed hit since the target was knocked down. If you want to use a lightning elite I think that it is better then mind shock. It has an unconditional KD and comparable damage to shock. The delay on surge compliments orb well since it provides a decent spike when they both hit at the same time.
Worst elite Flourish.

Unyeilding aura is bad as a res, but it's fun to say "Do what I say or you die." Keystone signet will be good eventually- did you see the number new signets in the locked list? Also, when combined with Mantra of Signets*, it goes like this:
Use all signets. Mantra, Keystone. Use all signets again. Keystone. Use all signets again, for three uses of your entire army of signets with no recharge time. This is still not the best, but oh well.
*Note: Mantra of Signets is the one-shot version of Inscriptions- it makes your next signet recharge instantly.

For people who are hating on QS, you need to understand you are basically increasing your DPS with little or no energy management required.
Crippling Anguish bad? It is a very good warrior hate. Conditions like cripple are much easier to remove and with Mend Ailment and Mend Condition and Restore - conditions can be used to even increase healing! With Hex - not so unless Dwayna's Kiss which is rarely used and not as give as much healing as the Mends.
You can even use it on monks to slow them down for a warrior gank.
Not to mention that CA has a decent recharge time of 20 seconds (just like burns and surge) and adds health degen.
I think many people here are too focused on PvE and cannot see beyond it.

I'd say Skull Crack. Complete waste of an Elite.
The_Janitor
Skull Crack. Might not be THAT bad if it required no adrenaline.

Flourish is an excellent and I dare say even overpowered elite for pve. You get energy back, and instant recharge for skills that would usually be too cumbersome for warriors to use. For example, thrill of victory would take 8 seconds to recharge, savage slash 10, and desperation blow also something like that. But with flourish you can use these, flourish and have them all back to use again. Opens up a whole can of skills you wouldn't usually use.

Take all these energy strikes you didn"t even take a look before (Harmstring, Thrill of victory, Pure Strike, Desperate Strike, and even Wild blow-or hammer ones like Irresistable/crushing/belly smash etc...), then Flourish. You'll see the true power of this skill, which is to be the best Energy management skill for a warrior.
Its too slow recharge+energy needed to activate and the perfect timing needed to use it, still, doesn't make it a top elite.
Buff wanted: make it adrenal based, with 6-7 AD cost.

Quick shot! isn't even worth the platinum for the signet ^^ IMO that's the worst
Phoenix Ex
Quick Shot is definately not the worst elite. Its basically undodgable with the increased speed, not to mention it increases dps by quite a bit, especially when combined with preparation/conjure. And it frees you up to use defense stances instead of having tiger's fury on constantly.
Unyielding Aura is far, far worst than Quick Shot as an elite. And, no, spending -1 regen just to grief wammo that would probably leave when you do it anyways is NOT a good use at all, IMO.

Wanted to defend Marksmans Wager, I use it with serpents quickness to spam interrupts (savage, distraging, concussion) even from a distance I can rechage my energy while shutting down almost everything a caster tries.
I would have to say worst is Charge because it has little use in gameplay. sure if you have 3 wars who need to rush in you can use it but in most cases youll have one or two and they can use sprint. The only time it is useful is for running and thats not really part of the game.

Lightning Surge is one of the only good non energy mgt elites for Eles. The delay is what you want, because it makes the spike much stronger.
Soul Leech really kinda sucks, IMO. It's just too expensive, too slow to recharge, and too short in duration to do much good. SS does more damage to casters than SL, really. Only time SL would be good would be against a stupid heal monk or a stupid earth ele, and they'd have to be mashing buttons pretty furiously to do much damage in that 10 sec window.

Skull Crack compared to non-elite Concussion shot is a quite pathetic elite skill.

Some people mentioned water trident... it's good dealing with runners and might have some use on the heroes acsention maps. Better for warriors than mages though.
I'm also surprised more people haven't said 100 blades considering all the attention it is getting.

It amuses me how the PvP and PvE communities use completely different sets of elites. PvEers are telling me that Ether Prodigy and Charge suck: both are regularly used by top 10 pvp teams. Basically every warrior stance is worthless in pvp, but put a gear in a warriors hands... (I think pvpers are generally a bit more aware then pvers, because PvE is quicker unlocks).
Top votes seem to be going to Keystone signet and I won't argue with that.
Unyielding and Defy Pain are kind of the same to me: Vengence and Endure Pain have the same positives and the additional benefits of the elite version really worth the elite spot. There is a difference between skills that really suck and those that one has no idea how do use: I understand how I'd use Defy Pain and I'm still unimpressed, I don't play quick shot or hundred blades but I understand their potential.

Reading this thread, I can't believe how many people deserve to be shot for calling some of the best elites as "worst".

I'm going to go with Marksman's Wager ... can't say i've ever had a build that could successfully use it well.
Keystone sig comes in a close second for me as well, as i've had a minor amount of fun (although no real success) with signet builds

I know that the no-brainer elite for a bonder is Life Barrier... However, It's just too much energy degen to maintain Bond/Barrier on seven people then Balthazar's Spirit on myself even with Mantra of Inscriptions. If I'm just going to be putting it on tanks and the other monk I perfer Watchful Spirit over Life Barrier. Mainly becuase it combats shatter enchantment and is a spike heal with a huge range (Useful for when the tank goes to gather aggro).
I'd perfer to be able to throw out some active Protection instead of struggling under the weight of 15 maintained enchants. None of the other protection elites impress me too much becuase of high recharge times, I perfer the non-elite version in almost every case. So Unyielding it is.
