Find something that makes gold that you enjoy doing.
I spent a few weeks when I was new farming Gates of Kryta and selling sub-perfect items to new players who were extremely grateful to have such items for their low-level characters. Then I got bored. I farmed candy canes endlessly, getting caught up in the "farm now before Wintersday is over" excitement. I ended up with 400. I did some buy low/sell high stuff on auctions. That was boring. I'll still fetch somebody a collectible from the desert for 2K or so. I found one customer who instead of paying 2K per item paid 10K, and bought four of them. (He says he gets his gold as a 55 HP monk, and was dressing up other characters in a hurry.) More recently I've done a bunch of SF farming with my wife, because she enjoys that, and I've at least sampled most of the other standard farming places.
At the moment I'm feeling oppressed again by my bulging inventory, with over 20 items waiting for a warrior to be brought post-, and am playing him (he may be my last pre- character ever) until I'm ready to bring him post-.
I guess I could save a little inventory space by advancing my low level characters to the point I was certain they'd never need a weapon again below Req 9, but the warrior is the big win.
I also have a bunch of stuff in inventory of the sort that I used to enjoy selling but no longer do, in case I come to enjoy it again.
Oh yes -- I have 200K, and some greens, and a nice range of collectors items, and a few other nice things, and all except about 10 of the 400 candy canes, and I'm pretty sure that I've given my wife a lot more in the way of gold and greens than she ever gave me. And I've contributed a lot of dyes, jewels, etc. to our communal storage.
On the other hand, she has six characters who've made it at least to the Ring of Fire, and I have only one. It's all a question of what you like to do.
Fortunately, neither of us has much desire for fancy armor.
