In any case-
I simply liked certain items having a degree of rarity. Guild Wars was never supposed to be about the items--in the sense that having certain items really wouldn't effect gameplay in any dramatic way. However, for those who felt the need to MIN-MAX to the.. err.. max.. there would be that option.
It's that option I like. Not because I min-max TO THE EXTREME, but rather because it creates a system of what is and isn't valuable, and gives me satisfaction in acquiring these items. ;P
Farming, in other words, for farming's sake. Just the pleasure of acquiring an item deemed to be rare.
When I popped my sup ab, I was squeeling with delight. Once I realized everyone else was popping them too, my elation vanished. I didn't want the sup ab for the money or to use it for myself. I wanted it for the satisfaction of knowing, hey, I got a rare item. ;P
Ah, well.
