HoD Swords and Factions Drop - Unlucky Buyers?

Was playing the Factions preview, came across an Oni Blade with +5 energy as a mob drop. Possible implications for the market?

probably because they nerfed an item in guildwars and want to re-introduce it to the game because of its popularity. Im sure GW didnt expect the HoD sword to turn into a 400k+ item. Most regular players of guildwars didnt even know what it was untill people saw it spammed for rediculus(sp?) prices in the trade chat.
its good that they are bringing a new item like that so now all players who need more energy that wield melee weapons can enjoy it without paying an arm and a leg for it.

Unfortunately, I didn't screenshot my Oni Blade, and sold it to the merchant to buy more Kurzick keys, so I could find out what drops where. If I find another, I'll be sure to SS it.

Was the +5 energy line in color (meaning, it was an upgrade mod?), or was it in plain white (meaning, it was inherent, like the +dmg modifiers?) ???

I dont want to sound like an ass but I'm cynical about this. No screenshot provided so I have to assume this is false information. Probably to drive down prices of current HOD swords.

Yeah, w/o SS, he could just be trying to get anxious sellers to get rid of it at lower prices. If there is an SS w/ little suspicion of PhotoShop, then I will just give my 2 to my friends I suppose...

the item was never removed.. only the ability to craftit taken out, thuisleaving it in the hands of the fortunate few to reap the benefits and wealth of it
if it was imbalanced, then it should have been removed entirely, not limited to a select few

also that was a drop and not something a wealthy person could craft a bunch of.it could be something to spice things up a bit.
there might be things here we need that small edge for.
has anybody done the Factions quests in lions arch and bergan hot springs yet?
it looks as though some Factions material is creeping into chapter 1 which is an indication of the possibility of assassin/ritualist skill quests as well for a start up new character in presear

I dont think HOD is really that unblanced. Its just 5 energy, a e-dnial mesmer takes that off in like seconds.

If it's a Sword, with an inherent mod that can replace the damage mod, then it won't be on every single one now, will it?

If it is a random mod on swords, and not on everyone of that type, then it's among the stupidest thing Anet could do. The prices for those swords will be astrmonical, possibly even more than the current HoD sword.

Howso? If it's generating more Denravi-esque Swords, and feeding them into the economy, the only thing that will increase the prices is the skin of the Weapon, which happens now anyway. Instead of paying 400k+ for a Denravi Sword, they'll be paying 500k+ for say, an Oni Blade, +5 Energy. Over time, the prices of the inherent mod will continue to drop, so just like now with say, Crystallines with 15^50 being far more expensive than for instance, a Gladius with 15^50, the skin rarity will make up the value of the item.

The item could have also been a bugged drop (like unconditional weapons), and possibly removed a short time later. We won't know until someone finds another sample and places a screen shot here. Until then, I have to treat this news with skepticism.

hm...well maybe they are reintroducing it because it isnt unbalanced anymore, its more unbalanced to have a few select ppl have +% energy then for everyone to have the option of having it, plus the game changes, things that were considered too powerful and where nerfed were not really all that powerful to begin with.

All the "unbalanced items" that they are allowing for the preview will go bye-bye after this weekend. It's more an inside joke thing. It just shows that the devs have a sense of humor.

Knowing Vanquisher, he wouldn't lie about such a thing. Shit i've farmed with him in Sorrow's Furnace quite a bit. But since this is only the preview event, they'll disappear, then if they appear in the retail, i can imagine them being just as expensive if they're equally rare.
