Why do they sell/buy for so much

They are used to buy a Guild Hall. Only way to buy one, actually. And once you have guildhall, you can participate in GvG-battles.

And nice place which you can call home, where you don't have to worry about anyone spamming casinos or trade-channel spam.

And I think this has been answered several times already.

Only 10% of guilds have one, 99% of guilds want one..

they did raise the sigil drop from 1 per HoH win to 3 though, howver if its the same team winning HoH everytime that does kinda make it bad xD

hopefully prices drop though

i won mine though so its possible to win =)

the guys with guild halls doing tombs for pvp fun and to sell sigils on for stupid money.

I thought when you win a Sigil you can use them to get fame? If this is still true can you buy Sigils and use them to get yourself fame? Although this is probably widly frowned upon

No. No, you can't use it to get fame.

Sigil prices have been going down steadily since release; I remember when they were around the 100k mark. I think they're around 20k now; probably have dropped some more.

Sigil Traders are located in Heroes' Ascent, and the sigils themeselves can also be dropped from a chest opened once you win Halls.

I think that's all there is to it.

Price of sigils will probably go up again when factions comes out, many ppl will buy a new guild hall I think.

There is a sigil trader in the halls when you go to preview them from Lion's Arch as well.

Seeing faction, many will change to the new guilds halls.
