i've been usin VerizonDsl since it first came out and had no problems till today... F'in idiots over there.. now i feel like switchin to OOL

I switched my router's release/renew time from the default 1 day release/renew to an 8 minute release/renew. While this doesn't solve the problem, I am staying connected for longer periods of time than I have before I made the change.
Hopefully after Wednesday's fix, Verizon will be running normally again.

Man this sucks. Why did they have to implement a 15 minute lease duration. That bunch of failures at Verizon better fix this. I need to do Dunes and I would like to be able to complete it this time. Hopefully they'll fix this issue or it looks like im shopping for a new ISP.

Here's a link to the Verizon tech support phone number I found on Guild Hall Forums. If ya got bad error 7 Verizon problems heres somewhat of solution. Let them know your unhappy hopefully they will change things to be good again.

We called up today i'm located outskirts of Philly...But Verizon blamed it on our IP address idk wtf that means. but they didnt say anything about fixing it.

Out of interest when did this problem start for everyone? I've had DSL for over 5 years (with a different company in the beginning) and I just started having this occur about a week and a half ago.
By the by I ordered a static IP, we'll see if that fixes it (10 days).

Yeah, it started a week ago for me. It wasn't too bad at first, but then it got worse and worse up into the weekend.

About ten days ago for me. When i was switched for 786/128 to 1.5/386 Thanks alot verizon I like the speed increase. I am dl 3x faster, When I do dl that is. In the mean time i cant freakin PLAY YOU IDIOTS!! Ill wait till I get the new modem your sending me. If that dosen't work Im gone 8-P

I have a DSL account with Verizon (3mb/768) and I just recently started getting that annoying "err=7" thing. My IP gets refreshed which causes the disconnects , the same thing happens in mIRC. My solution was to switch to their business adsl (still 3mb/768 but double the price ) I get an IP block to futz around with and no disonnects. Not worth it just to play a game and not a very good solution but I have other uses for it so it's ok for me.
Verizon originally told me they were having router issues and traffic issues just recently and they may have had to resort to this type of IP refreshing.
I'll see like Burem if this static IP works and report back.

For the record I live in Maryland 5 miles outside of the District and I don't believe they have upgraded us to 3/768 yet, however I kindof hope they don't if it is going to cause such problems. By the way it seems that although I don't pay extra for one my IP addy is static, at least it hasnt changed since last time I looked at it which was several months ago. I use PPPoE and have my WAN set to keep alive: redial period 30 seconds. I dont know if that has any effect.
Again, I am one of those lucky people who has only had error7 once, and it had nothing to do with my connection. Also my friends with VZE here also have never had any problems, and the one that did get err7 was with me when it happened.
Does anyone know which states have been upgraded to the 3/768, and then which states are having this issue, because I want to know if it is related.

Well, I'm not sure if we were upgraded, but PA, NJ, and NY have bad routers, which I hope Verizon is going to fix soon.

Well it must be eastern pa because here in pittsburgh (western PA), I have no problems whatso ever. I played GW last night for about 4 hours straight without an error. I have only had one err=7 crash the whole time I have had GW and that wasn't due to verizon. For what it is worth I also have the 3/768 speed cap. According to my router I haven't had a different IP address in the last 4 1/2 days.

Interestingly eventhough they said they were going to upgrade me to 3/786 on tuesday (they don't do it automaticly, you have to ask) when I called they claim ed i'm too far from the switch. For the record I live 3 miles from the switch. Once again, wtf?

The 18,000 ft limit on DSL is also based on the actual copper wire length from the switch. Which tends to be longer than straight line distance. At 3 miles from the switch I would be happy to get DSL at all.

Hope I'm not jumping the gun here or jinxing myself, but my connection has been running stable without any disconnects now for the past 5 hours, maybe Verizon has finally fixed this issue?

The Tech came to my house today and tested the line and it was fine...all that stuff they were saying about bad hardware/settings/wiring was mostly crap.
But I'm very, very glad to have my service back to where it was before the middle of last week.
Now I have to call and have them re-establish the 3/768 service they dropped down for troubleshooting purposes.

Things like these are what make me love my ISP. I have Cox High Speed, hooked it right up to my computer when I first got it. Started working flawlessly and haven't had ONE single problem with it, ever.

I worked in telecom for a while and I can tell you Verizon is well known as THE WORST COSTOMER SERVICE provider in the industry. In fact they reduced what is considered Costomer Service to a new low that actually will eventualy ooze its way into nearly every industry where consumer choice is limited. They know this too its a long earned reputation.
When I did consulting I would advise another carrier - anyone but verizon is better - if you have a choice please take it and get away from that juggernaut.

Hey guys, it is not the ISP. It is game problem. I just cant got out from Piken, becouse every time that the world change screen appear, the game is down and show the message with Err=7.

Honestly how can it be a game error, if it where no one would be playing the game at all right now, everyone would be just disconnected.
I can stream music, run teamspeak, open a browser and play guildwars, no disconnects at all.
